Psalms 149

Israel Invoked to Praise the Lord.

1 1Praise 2the Lord! Sing a 3new song to the Lord, And His praise 4in the congregation of the godly ones.2Israel shall be joyful in 5his Maker; The sons of Zion shall rejoice in their 6King.3They shall praise His name with 7dancing; They shall sing praises to Him with 8tambourine and lyre.4For the Lord 9takes pleasure in His people; He will 10glorify the lowly with salvation.

5The 11godly ones shall be jubilant in glory; They shall 12sing for joy on their beds.6The 13high praises of God shall be in their 14mouths, And a 15two-edged 16sword in their hands,7To 17execute vengeance on the nations, And punishment on the peoples,8To bind their kings 18with chains, And their 19dignitaries with shackles of iron,9To 20execute against them the judgment written. This is an 21honor for all His godly ones. 22Praise 23the Lord!
