Psalms 27

A Psalm of Fearless Trust in God.

A Psalm of David.

1The Lord is my 1light and my 2salvation; Whom should I fear? The Lord is the 34defense of my life; 5Whom should I dread?2When evildoers came upon me to 6devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they 7stumbled and fell.3If an 8army encamps against me, My heart will not fear; If war arises against me, In spite of this I am 9confident.

410One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may 11dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold 12the 13beauty of the Lord And to 1415meditate in His temple.5For on the 16day of trouble He will 17conceal me in His 18tabernacle; He will 19hide me in the secret place of His tent; He will 20lift me up on a rock.6And now 21my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer 22sacrifices in His tent 23with shouts of joy; I will 24sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

725Hear, Lord, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and 26answer me.8When You said, “27Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “28I shall seek Your face, Lord.”929Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in 30anger; You have been 31my help; 32Do not abandon me nor 33forsake me, God of my salvation!1034For my father and 35my mother have forsaken me, But 36the Lord will take me up.

1137Teach me Your way, Lord, And lead me on a 38level path Because of my enemies.12Do not turn me over to the 3940desire of my enemies, For 41false witnesses have risen against me, And the violent 42witness.13I certainly believed that I would see the 43goodness of the Lord In the 44land of the living.1445Wait for the Lord; Be 46strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.
