Psalms 142

Prayer for Help in Trouble.

Possibly Contemplative; or Didactic; or Skillful PsalmMaskil of David, when he was 1 Sam 22:1; 24:3in the cave. A Prayer.

1I 1cry out with my voice to the Lord; With my voice I 2implore the Lord for compassion.2I 3pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my 4trouble before Him.3When 5my spirit felt weak within me, You knew my path. In the way where I walk They have 6hidden a trap for me.4Look to the right and see; For there is 7no one who regards me favorably; 8There is no 9escape for me; 10No one cares for my soul.

5I cried out to You, Lord; I said, “You are 11my refuge, My 12portion in the 13land of the living.614Give Your attention to my cry, For I have been 15brought very low; Rescue me from my persecutors, For they are too 16strong for me.717Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Your name; The righteous will surround me, For You will 18look after me.”
