2 Thessalonians 1

Giving Thanks for Faith and Perseverance

11Paul, 2Silvanus, and 3Timothy,

To the 4church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 25Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3We ought always 6to give thanks to God for you, 7brothers and sisters, as is only fitting, because your faith is increasing abundantly, and the 8love of each and every one of you toward one another grows ever greater. 4As a result, we ourselves 9speak proudly of you among 10the churches of God for your 11perseverance and faith 1213in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. 5This is 14a 15plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be 16considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you indeed are suffering. 617For after all 18it is only right 19for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us, 2021when the Lord Jesus will be revealed 22from heaven 23with 24His mighty angels 825in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who 26do not know God, and to those who 27do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9These people will pay the penalty of 28eternal destruction, 29away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10when He comes to be 30glorified among His 31saints on that 32day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed--because our 33testimony to you was believed. 11To this end also we 34pray for you always, that our God will 35consider you worthy of your 36calling, and fulfill every desire for 37goodness and the 38work of faith with power, 12so that the 39name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, in accordance with the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
