Psalms 94

The Lord Implored to Avenge His People.

1Lord, God of 12vengeance, God of 3vengeance, 45shine forth!26Rise up, 7Judge of the earth, Pay back retribution 8to the proud.3How long, Lord, shall the wicked-- How long shall the 9wicked triumph?4They pour out words, they 10speak arrogantly; All who do injustice 11boast.5They 12crush Your people, Lord, And 13afflict Your inheritance.6They 14kill the widow and the stranger And murder the orphans.715They have said, “16The Lord does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob perceive.”

8Pay attention, you 17stupid ones among the people; And when will you understand, 18foolish ones?9He who 19planted the ear, 20does He not hear? Or He who formed the eye, 21does He not see?10He who 2223disciplines the nations, will He not rebuke, He who 24teaches mankind knowledge?11The Lord 25knows human thoughts, 26That they are mere breath.

12Blessed is the man whom 27You discipline, 28Lord, And 29whom You teach from Your Law,13So that You may grant him 30relief from the 31days of adversity, Until 32a pit is dug for the wicked.14For 33the Lord will not abandon His people, Nor will He 34abandon His inheritance.15For 3536judgment 37will again be righteous, And all the upright in heart 38will follow it.16Who will 39stand up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me 40against those who do injustice?

17If 41the Lord had not been my help, My soul would soon have dwelt in the land of silence.18If I should say, “42My foot has slipped,” Your faithfulness, Lord, will support me.19When my anxious thoughts 43multiply within me, Your 44comfort delights my soul.20Can a 4546throne of destruction be allied with You, One 47which devises 48mischief by decree?21They 49band themselves together against the 50life of the righteous And 51condemn 52the innocent to death.22But the Lord has been my 53refuge, And my God the 54rock of my refuge.23He has 55brought back their injustice upon them, And He will 5657destroy them in their evil; The Lord our God will 58destroy them.
