Context of Psalms 88:3
1Lord, God of my salvation, I cry out before you day and night. 2May my prayer reach your presence; listen to my cry. For I have had enough troubles, and my life is near Sheol. 4I am counted among those going down to the Pit. I am like a man without strength, 5abandoned among the dead. I am like the slain lying in the grave, whom you no longer remember, and who are cut off from your care.

Commentaries on Psalms 88:3
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3For my soul is full of troubles - I am full of trouble. The word rendered as “full” means properly to satiate as with food; that is, when as much had been taken as could be. So he says here, that this trouble was as great as he could bear; he could sustain no more. He had reached the utmost point of endurance; he had no power to bear anymore. And my life draweth nigh unto the grave - Hebrew, to Sheol. Compare the notes at Isaiah 14:9; notes at Job…Read the comment
