Psalms 75

God Humbles the Proud, but Exalts the Righteous.

For the music director; set to Lit Do Not DestroyAl-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song.

1We 1give thanks to You, God, we give thanks, For Your name is 2near; People declare 3Your wondrous works.2“When I select an 4appointed time, It is I who 5judge fairly.3The 6earth and all who inhabit it 7are unsteady; It is I who have firmly set its 8pillars. Selah4I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ And to the wicked, ‘9Do not lift up the horn;5Do not lift up your horn on high, 10Do not speak with insolent 11pride.’”

6For not from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the 1213desert comes exaltation;7But 14God is the Judge; He 15puts down one and exalts another.8For a 16cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams; It is 1718well mixed, and He pours out of this; Certainly all the wicked of the earth must drain and 19drink its dregs.

9But as for me, I will 20declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.10And 21He will cut off all the 22horns of the wicked, But 23the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.
