Psalms 118

Thanksgiving for the Lord’s Saving Goodness.

11Give thanks to the Lord, for 2He is good; For His mercy is everlasting.2Let 3Israel say, “His mercy is everlasting.”3Oh let the 4house of Aaron say, “His mercy is everlasting.”4Let those 5who 6fear the Lord say, “His mercy is everlasting.”

5From my 7distress I called upon 8the Lord; 9The Lord answered me and 10put me in an open space.6The Lord is 11for me; I will 12not fear; 13What can man do to me?7The Lord is for me 14among those who help me; Therefore I will 15look with satisfaction on those who hate me.8It is 16better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in people.9It is 17better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in noblemen.

10All nations 18surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I will certainly 19fend them off.11They 20surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me; In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off.12They surrounded me 21like bees; They were extinguished like a 22fire of thorn bushes; In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off.13You 23pushed me violently so that I 24was falling, But the Lord 25helped me.142627The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become 28my salvation.

15The sound of 29joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; The 30right hand of the Lord performs valiantly.16The 31right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord performs valiantly.17I 32will not die, but live, And 33tell of the works of 34the Lord.1835The Lord has 36disciplined me severely, But He has 37not turned me over to death.

1938Open the gates of righteousness to me; I will enter through them, I will give thanks to 39the Lord.20This is the gate of the Lord; The 40righteous will enter through it.21I will give thanks to You, for You have 41answered me, And You have 42become my salvation.

22A 43stone which the builders rejected Has become the 44chief cornerstone.23This came about from the Lord; It is marvelous in our eyes.24This is the day which the Lord has made; Let’s 45rejoice and be glad in it.25Please, O Lord, 46do save us; Please, O Lord, do send 47prosperity!2648Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; We have 49blessed you from the house of the Lord.2750The Lord is God, and He has given us 51light; Bind the festival sacrifice 52to the 53horns of the altar with cords.2854You are my God, and I give thanks to You; You are my God, 55I exalt You.2956Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His mercy is everlasting.
