Psalms 50

God, the Judge of the Righteous and the Wicked.

A Psalm of 1 Chr 15:17; 2 Chr 29:30Asaph.

11The Mighty One, God, the Lord, has spoken And summoned the earth, 2from 3the rising of the sun to its setting.2Out of Zion, 4the perfection of beauty, God 5has shone.3May our God 6come and not keep silent; 7Fire devours before Him, And a storm is violently 8raging around Him.4He 9summons the heavens above, And the earth, to judge His people:5“Gather My 10godly ones to Me, Those who have made a 11covenant with Me by 12sacrifice.”6And the 13heavens declare His righteousness, For 14God Himself is judge. Selah

7“15Hear, My people, and I will speak; Israel, I will testify 16against you; I am God, 17your God.8I do 18not rebuke you for your sacrifices, And your burnt offerings are continually before Me.9I will not take a 19bull from your house, Nor male goats from your folds.10For 20every animal of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills.11I know every 21bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is 22Mine.12If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the 23world is Mine, and 24everything it contains.13Shall I eat the flesh of 2526bulls Or drink the blood of male goats?14Offer God 27a sacrifice of thanksgiving And 28pay your vows to the Most High;1529Call upon Me on the day of trouble; I will 30rescue you, and you will 31honor Me.”

16But to the wicked God says, “What right do you have to tell of My statutes And to take 32My covenant in your mouth?17For you yourself 33hate discipline, And you 34throw My words behind you.18When you see a thief, you 35become friends with him, And 36you 37associate with adulterers.19You 3839let your mouth loose in evil, And your 40tongue harnesses deceit.20You sit and 41speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.21These things you have done and 42I kept silent; You thought that I was just like you; I will 43rebuke you and present the case before your eyes.

22“Now consider this, you who 44forget God, Or I will 45tear you in pieces, and there will be no one to save you.23He who 46offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who 47sets his way properly I will 48show the salvation of God.”
