1 Thessalonians 1

Giving Thanks for These Believers

11Paul, 2Silvanus, and 3Timothy,

To the 4church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 5Grace to you and peace.

26We always give thanks to God for all of you, 7making mention of you in our prayers; 3constantly keeping in mind your 8work of faith and labor of 9love and 1011perseverance of hope 12in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of 13our God and Father, 4knowing, 14brothers and sisters, beloved by God, 15His choice of you; 5for our 16gospel did not come to you in word only, but also 17in power and in the Holy Spirit and with 18full conviction; just as you know 19what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sakes. 6You also became 20imitators of us and of the Lord, 21having received 22the word during great affliction with the 23joy of the Holy Spirit, 7so that you became an example to all the believers in 24Macedonia and 25Achaia. 8For 26the word of the Lord has 27sounded forth from you, not only in 28Macedonia and 29Achaia, but 30in every place the news of your faith toward God has gone out, so that we have no need to say anything. 9For they themselves report about us 31as to the kind of 32reception we had with you, and how you 33turned to God 34from 35idols to serve 3637a living and true God, 10and to 38wait for His Son from 39heaven, whom He 40raised from the dead, that is, Jesus who 41rescues us from 42the wrath to come.
