Psalms 21

Praise for Salvation.

For the music director. A Psalm of David.

1Lord, in Your strength the king will 1be glad, And in Your 2salvation how greatly he will rejoice!2You have 3given him his heart’s desire, And You have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah3For You 4meet him with the blessings of good things; You set a 5crown of pure gold on his head.4He asked for life from You, You 6gave it to him, 7Length of days forever and ever.5His 8glory is great through Your 9salvation, 10Splendor and majesty You place upon him.6For You make him 11most 12blessed forever; You make him joyful 13with the joy of Your presence.

7For the king 14trusts in the Lord, And through the faithfulness of the Most High 15he will not be shaken.8Your hand will 16find all your enemies; Your right hand will find those who hate you.9You will make them 17as a fiery oven in the time 18of your anger; The Lord will 19swallow them up in His wrath, And 20fire will devour them.10You will eliminate their 21descendants from the earth, And their 2223children from among the sons of mankind.11Though they 2425intended evil against You And 26devised a plot, They will not succeed.12For You will 27make them turn their back; You will take aim at their faces 28with Your bowstrings.13Be exalted, Lord, in Your strength; We will 29sing and praise Your power.
