Psalms 81:2-16

2Raise a song, strike 1the timbrel, The sweet sounding 2lyre with the 3harp.3Blow the trumpet at the 4new moon, At the full moon, on our 5feast day.4For it is a statute for Israel, An ordinance of the God of Jacob.5He established it for a testimony in Joseph When he 67went throughout the land of Egypt. I heard a 8language that I did not know:

6“I 910relieved his shoulder of the burden, His hands were freed from the 11basket.7You 12called in trouble and I rescued you; I 13answered you in the hiding place of thunder; I proved you at the 14waters of Meribah. 15Selah.816Hear, O My people, and I will 17admonish you; O Israel, if you 18would listen to Me!9Let there be no 19strange god among you; Nor shall you worship any foreign god.1020I, the Lord, am your God, Who brought you up from the land of Egypt; 21Open your mouth wide and I will 22fill it.

11“But My people 23did not listen to My voice, And Israel did not 24obey Me.12So I 25gave 26them over to the stubbornness of their heart, To walk in their own devices.13Oh that My people 27would listen to Me, That Israel would 28walk in My ways!14I would quickly 29subdue their enemies And 30turn My hand against their adversaries.1531Those who hate the Lord would 32pretend obedience to Him, And their time of punishment would be forever.1633But I would feed you with the 3435finest of the wheat, And with 36honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
