Psalms 55:1-17

112Give ear to my prayer, O God; And 3do not hide Yourself from my supplication.2Give 4heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my 5complaint and 67am surely distracted,3Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the 8pressure of the wicked; For they 9bring down 10trouble upon me And in anger they 11bear a grudge against me.

4My 12heart is in anguish within me, And the terrors of 13death have fallen upon me.5Fear and 14trembling come upon me, And 1516horror has overwhelmed me.6I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and 1718be at rest.7Behold, I would wander far away, I would 19lodge in the wilderness. 20Selah.8I would hasten to my place of refuge From the 21stormy wind and tempest.”

922Confuse, O Lord, 23divide their tongues, For I have seen 24violence and strife in the city.10Day and night they go around her upon her walls, And iniquity and mischief are in her midst.1125Destruction is in her midst; 26Oppression and deceit do not depart from her 27streets.

12For it is 28not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who 29has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him.13But it is you, a man 30my equal, My 31companion and my 3233familiar friend;14We who had sweet 34fellowship together 35Walked in the house of God in the throng.15Let 36death come 37deceitfully upon them; Let them 38go down alive to 39Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst.

16As for me, I shall 40call upon God, And the Lord will save me.1741Evening and 42morning and at 43noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice.
