Psalms 39:2-9
2I was 1mute 2and silent, I 3refrained even from good, And my 4sorrow grew worse.3My 5heart was hot within me, While I was musing the fire burned; Then I spoke with my tongue:4“Lord, make me to know 6my end And what is the extent of my days; Let me know how 7transient I am.5Behold, You have made 8my days as handbreadths, And my 9lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Surely every man 10at his best is 11a mere 12breath. 13Selah.6Surely every man 14walks about as 15a phantom; Surely they make an 16uproar for nothing; He 17amasses riches and does not know who will gather them.
7“And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My 18hope is in You.819Deliver me from all my transgressions; Make me not the 20reproach of the foolish.9I have become 21mute, I do not open my mouth, Because it is 22You who have done it.
