Context of Psalms 34:8
6This wretched man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. 7The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! 9Fear the Lord, you His saints; For to those who fear Him there is no lack of anything. 10The young lions do without and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 8O taste and see that the Lord is good - Apply to him by faith and prayer; plead his promises, he will fulfill them; and you shall know in consequence, that the Lord is good. God has put it in the power of every man to know whether the religion of the Bible be true or false. The promises relative to enjoyments in this life are the grand tests of Divine revelation. These must be fulfilled to all them who with deep repentance and true faith turn unto the…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 8O taste and see - This is an address to others, founded on the experience of the psalmist. He had found protection from the Lord; he had had evidence of His goodness; and he asks now of others that they would make the same trial which he had made. It is the language of piety in view of personal experience; and it is such language as a young convert, whose heart is filled with joy as hope first dawns on his soul, would address to his companions and…Read the comment
