Psalms 78:12-43
121He performed wonders before their fathers In the land of Egypt, in the 2field of Zoan.13He 3divided the sea and caused them to pass through, And He made the waters stand 4up like a heap.14Then He led them with the cloud by 5day And all the night with a 6light of fire.15He 7split the rocks in the wilderness And gave them plenty to drink like the ocean depths.16He 8brought forth streams from the rock And made waters run down like rivers.
17Yet they still continued to sin against Him, To 9rebel against the Most High in the desert.18And in their heart they 10put God to the test By asking for 11food 12that suited their taste.19Then they spoke against God; They said, “13Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?20Behold, He 14struck the rock so that waters gushed out, And streams were overflowing; Can He also provide bread? Will He prepare 15meat for His people?”
21Therefore the Lord heard and 16was 17full of wrath; And a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also mounted against Israel,22Because they 18did not believe in God And did not trust in His salvation.23Yet He commanded the clouds above And 19opened the doors of heaven;24He 20rained down manna upon them to eat, And gave them 2122food from heaven.25Man ate the bread of 23angels; He sent them 24food 2526in abundance.26He 27made the east wind blow in the sky And by His 28power He directed the south wind.27When He rained meat upon them like the dust, Even 29winged fowl like the sand of the seas,28He let them fall in the midst of 30their camp, All around their dwellings.29So they 31ate and were well filled, And He 32satisfied their longing.3033Yet before they had abandoned their longing, 34While their food was in their mouths,31The 35anger of God rose against them And killed 36some of their 37strongest ones, And 38subdued the choice men of Israel.32In spite of all this they 39still sinned And 40did not believe in His wonderful works.33So He brought 41their days to an end in futility, And their years to an end in sudden terror.
34When He killed them, then they 42sought Him, And they returned and searched 43diligently for God;35And they remembered that God was their 44rock, And the Most High God their 45Redeemer.36But they 46flattered Him with their mouth And 47lied to Him with their tongue.37For their heart was not 48steadfast toward Him, Nor were they faithful with His covenant.38But He, being 49compassionate, 5051forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them; And often He 5253restrained His anger And did not stir up all His wrath.39So 54He remembered that they were only 55flesh, A 5657wind that passes and does not return.
40How often they 58rebelled against Him in the wilderness And 59grieved Him in the 60desert!41Again and again they 6162tempted God, And pained the 63Holy One of Israel.42They 64did not remember 65His 66power, The day when He 67redeemed them from the enemy,43When He performed His 68signs in Egypt And His 69marvels in the field of Zoan,
