Context of Psalms 25:16

14The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant. 15My eyes are continually toward the Lord, For He will rescue my feet from the net. Turn to me and be gracious to me, For I am lonely and afflicted. 17The troubles of my heart are enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses. 18Look at my misery and my trouble, And forgive all my sins.

• Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 16Turn thee unto me - Rather, the Hebrew means: “look upon me.” The idea, however, is that the face of God was, as it were, turned in another direction, or that He was not attentive to him; and he prays that He would turn and behold him; that He would see him in his trouble. And have mercy upon me - The psalmist seems to have felt that if God would look upon him he would pity him. He would see his case to be so sad that He would show him compassion - as…Read the comment
• Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 15-22Verses 15-22 The psalmist concludes, as he began, with expressing dependence upon God, and desire toward him. God would, at length, give Israel rest from all their enemies round about…Read the comment
