Psalms 90:1-17

1 1Lord, You have been our 2 3dwelling place in all generations.2Before 4the mountains were born 5Or You 6gave birth to the earth and the world, Even 7from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

3You 8turn mortals back into dust And say, “Return, you sons of mankind.”4For 9a thousand years in Your sight Are like 10yesterday when it passes by, 11Or like a 12watch in the night.5You 13have 14swept them away like a flood, they 15 16fall asleep; In the morning they are like 17grass that 18sprouts anew.6In the morning it 19flourishes and 20sprouts anew; Toward evening it 21wilts and 22withers away.

7For we have been 23consumed by Your anger, And we have been terrified by Your wrath.8You have 24placed our guilty deeds before You, Our 25hidden sins in the light of Your presence.9For 26all our days have dwindled away in Your fury; We have finished our years like a 27sigh.10As for the days of our 28life, 29they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, 30eighty years, Yet their pride is only 31trouble and tragedy; For it quickly passes, and we 32disappear.11Who 33understands the 34power of Your anger And Your fury, according to the 35fear 36that is due You?12So 37teach us to number our days, That we may 38 39present to You a heart of wisdom.

13Do 40return, Lord; 41how long will it be? And 42be 43sorry for Your servants.14 44Satisfy us in the morning with Your graciousness, That we may 45sing for joy and rejoice all our days.15 46Make us glad 47according to the days You have afflicted us, And the 48years we have seen 49evil.16Let Your 50work appear to Your servants And Your 51majesty 52to their children.17May the 53kindness of the Lord our God be upon us; And 54 55confirm for us the work of our hands; Yes, 56confirm the work of our hands.
