Psalms 78:56-71
56Yet they 12tempted and 3rebelled against the Most High God And did not keep His testimonies,57But turned back and 4acted treacherously like their fathers; They 5turned aside like a treacherous bow.58For they 6provoked Him with their 7high places And 8moved Him to jealousy with their 9carved images.59When God heard them, He 10was filled with 11wrath And He utterly 12rejected Israel;60So that He 13abandoned the 14dwelling place at Shiloh, The tent 15which He had pitched among people,61And He gave up His 16strength to captivity And His glory 17into the hand of the enemy.62He also 18turned His people over to the sword, And 19was filled with wrath at His inheritance.6320Fire devoured 21His young men, And 22His 23virgins had no wedding songs.6424His 25priests fell by the sword, And 26His 27widows could not weep.
65Then the Lord 28awoke as if from sleep, Like a 29warrior 30overcome by wine.66He 3132drove His adversaries backward; He put on them an everlasting disgrace.67He also 33rejected the tent of Joseph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,68But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount 34Zion, which He loved.69And He 35built His sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which He has established forever.70He also 36chose His servant David And took him from the sheepfolds;71From 3738the care of the 39ewes 40with nursing lambs He brought him To 41shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel 42His inheritance.
