Psalms 78:43-68
43When He performed His 1signs in Egypt And His 2marvels in the field of Zoan,44And 3turned their rivers to blood, And their streams, so that they could not drink.45He sent swarms of 4flies among them that devoured them, And 5frogs that destroyed them.46He also gave their crops to the 6grasshopper And the product of their labor to the 7locust.47He 8destroyed their vines with 9hailstones And their sycamore trees with frost.48He also turned their 10cattle over to the hailstones, And their herds to bolts of lightning.49He 11sent His burning anger upon them, Fury and indignation and trouble, A band of 12destroying angels.50He leveled a path for His anger; He did not spare their souls from death, But 13turned their lives over to the plague,51And 14struck all the firstborn in Egypt, The 15first and best of their vigor in the tents of 16Ham.52But He 17led His own people out like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness 18like a flock;53He led them 19safely, so that they did not fear; But 20the sea engulfed their enemies.
54So 21He brought them to His holy 22land, To this 2324hill country 25which His right hand had gained.55He also 26drove out the nations from them And 27apportioned them as an inheritance by measurement, And had the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.56Yet they 2829tempted and 30rebelled against the Most High God And did not keep His testimonies,57But turned back and 31acted treacherously like their fathers; They 32turned aside like a treacherous bow.58For they 33provoked Him with their 34high places And 35moved Him to jealousy with their 36carved images.59When God heard them, He 37was filled with 38wrath And He utterly 39rejected Israel;60So that He 40abandoned the 41dwelling place at Shiloh, The tent 42which He had pitched among people,61And He gave up His 43strength to captivity And His glory 44into the hand of the enemy.62He also 45turned His people over to the sword, And 46was filled with wrath at His inheritance.6347Fire devoured 48His young men, And 49His 50virgins had no wedding songs.6451His 52priests fell by the sword, And 53His 54widows could not weep.
65Then the Lord 55awoke as if from sleep, Like a 56warrior 57overcome by wine.66He 5859drove His adversaries backward; He put on them an everlasting disgrace.67He also 60rejected the tent of Joseph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,68But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount 61Zion, which He loved.
