Context of Psalms 69:24
22May their table before them become a snare; And when they are at peace, may it become a trap. 23May their eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their hips shake continually. Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them. 25May their camp be desolated; May there be none living in their tents. 26For they have persecuted him whom You Yourself struck, And they tell of the pain of those whom You have wounded.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 24Pour out thine indignation upon them - That is, Punish them for their sins; or, do justice to them. And let thy wrathful anger - literally, “the burning of thy wrath;” glow of anger; burning wrath. See Numbers 25:4; Numbers 32:14, 1 Samuel 28:18. This is undoubtedly a petition that God would visit them with the severity of his indignation; or, it expresses the belief of the psalmist that they “deserved” such tokens of his displeasure. Take hold of them…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-29Verses 22-29 These are prophecies of the destruction of Christ's persecutors. Verses #(22-23), are applied to the judgments of God upon the unbelieving Jews, in Ro 11:9, 10. When the supports of life and delights of sense, through the corruption of our nature, are made the food and fuel of sin, then our table is a snare. Their sin was, that they would not see, but shut their eyes against the light, loving darkness rather; their punishment was, that they…Read the comment
