Psalms 22:1-21
112My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? 3Far from my 4help are the words of my 56groaning.2My God, I 7cry out by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but 8I have no rest.3Yet 9You are holy, You who 10are enthroned upon 11the praises of Israel.4In You our fathers 12trusted; They trusted and You 13rescued them.5To You they cried out and they fled to safety; 14In You they trusted and were not 15disappointed.
6But I am a 16worm and not a person, A 17disgrace of mankind and 18despised by the people.7All who see me 19deride me; They 20sneer, they 21shake their heads, saying,8“22Turn 23him over to the Lord; 24let Him save him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.”
9Yet You are He who 25brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.10I was cast upon You 26from 27birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.
1128Do not be far from me, for 29trouble is near; For there is 30no one to help.12Many 31bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of 32Bashan have encircled me.13They 33open their mouths wide at me, As a ravening and roaring 34lion.14I am 35poured out like water, And all my 36bones are out of joint; My 37heart is like wax; It is melted within 38me.15My 39strength is dried up like a piece of pottery, And 40my tongue clings to my jaws; And You 41lay me 42in the dust of death.16For 43dogs have surrounded me; 44A band of evildoers has encompassed me; 45They 46pierced my hands and my feet.17I can count all my bones. 47They look, they stare at me;18They 48divide my garments among them, And they cast lots for my clothing.
19But You, Lord, 49do not be far away; You who are my help, 50hurry to my assistance.20Save my 51soul from 52the sword, My 53only life from the 54power of the dog.21Save me from the 55lion’s mouth; From the horns of the 56wild oxen You 57answer me.
