Darby Bible

1In those [times], the myriadsG3461 of the crowdG3793 beingG1510 gatheredG1996 togetherG1996, soG5620 that they trod oneG240 on another, he beganG757 to sayG3004 to his disciplesG3101 firstG4413, BewareG4337 of the leavenG2219 of the PhariseesG5330, which isG1510 hypocrisyG5272; 2but there isG1510 nothing covered up which shall not beG1510 revealedG601, nor secretG2927 that shall not beG1510 knownG1097; 3therefore whatever ye have saidG3004 in the darknessG4653 shall be heardG191 in the lightG5457, and what ye have spokenG2980 in the earG3775 in chambers shall be proclaimedG2784 upon the housetopsG1430. 4But I sayG3004 to you, my friendsG5384, FearG5399 not those who killG615 the bodyG4983 and after this have no more that they can do. 5But I will shew you whom ye shall fearG5399: FearG5399 him who after he has killedG615 has authorityG1849 to cast into hellG1067; yea, I sayG3004 to you, FearG5399 him. 6AreG1510 not fiveG4002 sparrowsG4765 soldG4453 for twoG1417 assaria? and oneG1520 of them isG1510 not forgottenG1950 before 1GodG2316. 7But evenG2532 the hairsG2359 of your headG2776 are all numberedG705. FearG5399 not therefore, ye are better than manyG4183 sparrowsG4765. 8But I sayG3004 to you, Whosoever shall confessG3670 me before menG444, the SonG5207 of manG444 will confessG3670 him alsoG2532 before the angelsG32 of 2GodG2316; 9but he that shall have deniedG720 me before menG444 shall be deniedG720 before the angelsG32 of 3GodG2316; 10and whoever shall sayG3004 a wordG3056 against the SonG5207 of manG444 it shall be forgivenG863 him; but to him that speaksG3004 injuriously against the HolyG40 SpiritG4151 it shall not be forgivenG863. 11But whenG3752 they bringG1533 you before the synagoguesG4864 and rulersG746 and the authoritiesG1849, be not careful howG4459 or what ye shall answer, or what ye shall sayG3004; 12for the HolyG40 SpiritG4151 shall teachG1321 you in the hourG5610 itself what should be saidG3004. 13And a person saidG3004 to him out of the crowdG3793, TeacherG1320, speakG3004 to my brotherG80 to divide the inheritanceG2817 with me. 14But he saidG3004 to him, ManG444, who established me [as] a judgeG2923 or a divider over you? 15And he saidG3004 to them, Take heed and keepG5442 yourselves from all covetousnessG4124, for [it isG1510] not because a man isG1510 in abundanceG4052 [that] his lifeG2222 isG1510 in his possessionsG5225. 16And he spokeG3004 a parableG3850 to them, sayingG3004, The landG5561 of a certainG5100 richG4145 manG444 brought forth abundantly. 17And he reasonedG1260 within himself sayingG3004, What shall I do? for I have not [a place] whereG4226 I shall lay up my fruitsG2590. 18And he saidG3004, This will I do: I will take away my granaries and buildG3618 greaterG3173, and there I will lay up all my produceG4160 and my goodG18 thingsG3778; 19and I will sayG3004 to my soulG5590, SoulG5590, thou hast muchG4183 goodG18 thingsG4183 laid by for manyG4183 yearsG2094; repose thyself, eatG2068, drinkG4095, be merryG2165. 20But 4GodG2316 saidG3004 to him, FoolG878, this nightG3571 thy soulG5590 shall beG1510 required of thee; and whose shall beG1510 what thou hast preparedG2090? 21ThusG3779 is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not richG4147 toward 5GodG2316. 22And he saidG3004 to his disciplesG3101, For this cause I sayG3004 unto you, Be not careful for lifeG5590, what ye shall eatG2068, nor for the bodyG4983, what ye shall putG1746 on. 23The lifeG5590 isG1510 moreG4183 than foodG5160, and the bodyG4983 than raiment. 24ConsiderG2657 the ravens, that they sowG4687 not nor reapG2325; which have neither storehouse nor granary; and 6GodG2316 feedsG5142 them. HowG4214 muchG4214 better areG1510 ye than the birdsG4071? 25But which of you by being careful can addG4369 to his statureG2244 oneG3588 cubit? 26If thereforeG3767 ye cannot [do] evenG3761 what is leastG1646, whyG5101 are ye careful about the restG3062? 27ConsiderG2657 the liliesG2918 howG4459 they growG837: they neither toilG2872 nor spinG3514; but I sayG3004 unto you, Not evenG3761 SolomonG4672 in all his gloryG1391 was clothed as oneG1520 of these. 28But if 7GodG2316 thusG3779 clothe the grassG5528, which to-day isG1510 in the fieldG68 and to-morrow isG1510 castG906 into [the] oven, howG4214 muchG4214 ratherG3123 you, O ye of little faith? 29And ye, seekG2212 not what ye shall eatG2068 or what ye shall drinkG4095, and be not in anxiety; 30for all these thingsG3778 do the nationsG1484 of the worldG2889 seekG1934 after, and your FatherG3962 knows that ye have needG5535 of these thingsG3778; 31but seekG2212 his kingdomG932, and [all] these thingsG3778 shall be addedG4369 to you. 32FearG5399 not, littleG3398 flockG4168, for it has been the good pleasureG2106 of your FatherG3962 to giveG1325 you the kingdomG932. 33SellG4453 what ye possess and giveG1325 almsG1654; makeG4160 to yourselves purses which do not grow oldG3822, a treasureG2344 which does not fail in the heavensG3772, whereG3699 thiefG2812 does not drawG1448 near nor mothG4597 destroyG1311. 34For whereG3699 your treasureG2344 isG1510, there alsoG2532 will your heartG2588 beG1510. 35Let your loinsG3751 beG1510 girdedG4024 about, and lampsG3088 burningG2545; 36and ye like menG444 who wait their ownG1438 lordG2962 whenever he may leave the weddingG1062, that when he comesG2064 and knocksG2925, they may openG455 to him immediatelyG2112. 37Blessed are those bondmen whom the lordG2962 [on] comingG2064 shall findG2147 watchingG1127; verily I sayG3004 unto you, that he will girdG4024 himself and make them reclineG347 at table, and comingG2064 up will serveG1247 them. 38And if he comeG2064 in the secondG1208 watchG5438, and comeG2064 in the thirdG5154 watchG5438, and findG2147 [them] thusG3779, blessed areG1510 those [bondmen]. 39But this knowG1097, that if the master of the houseG3624 had knownG1097 in what hourG5610 the thiefG2812 was comingG2064, he would have watched, and not have suffered his houseG3624 to be dug through. 40And ye therefore, be ye readyG2092, for in the hourG5610 in which ye do not thinkG1380 [it], the SonG5207 of manG444 comesG2064. 41And PeterG4074 saidG3004 to him, LordG2962, sayest thou this parableG3850 to us, or alsoG2532 to all? 42And the LordG2962 saidG3004, Who then isG1510 the faithfulG4103 and prudent stewardG3623, whom his lordG2962 will setG2525 over his household, to giveG1325 the measure of corn in seasonG2540? 43Blessed is that bondman whom his lordG2962 [on] comingG2064 shall findG2147 doing thusG3779; 44verily I sayG3004 unto you, that he will setG2525 him over all that he has. 45But if that bondman should sayG3004 in his heartG2588, My lordG2962 delays to comeG2064, and begin to beatG5180 the menservants and the maidservants, and to eatG2068 and to drinkG4095 and to be drunken, 46the lordG2962 of that bondman shall comeG2240 in a dayG2250 when he does not expectG4328 it, and in an hourG5610 he knowsG1097 not of, and shall cutG1371 him in two and appoint his portionG3313 with the unbelieversG571. 47But that bondman who knewG1097 his own lord's will, and had not preparedG2090 [himself] nor done his will, shall be beatenG1194 with manyG4183 [stripes]; 48but he who knewG1097 [it] not, and did thingsG3956 worthyG514 of stripes, shall be beatenG1194 with fewG3641. And to every oneG3739 to whom muchG4183 has been givenG1325, muchG4183 shall be required from him; and to whom [men] have committed muchG4183, they will askG154 from him the moreG4183. 49I have comeG2064 to castG906 a fireG4442 on the earthG1093; and what will I if alreadyG2235 it has been kindled? 50But I have a baptismG908 to be baptised with, and howG4459 am I straitened until it shall have been accomplishedG5055! 51ThinkG1380 ye that I have comeG3854 to giveG1325 peaceG1515 in the earthG1093? Nay, I sayG3004 to you, but ratherG235 division: 52for from henceforth there shall beG1510 fiveG4002 in oneG1520 houseG3624 dividedG1266; threeG5140 shall beG1510 dividedG1266 against twoG1417, and twoG1417 against threeG5140: 53fatherG3962 against sonG5207, and sonG5207 against fatherG3962; motherG3384 against daughterG2364, and daughterG2364 against motherG3384; a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 54And he saidG3004 alsoG2532 to the crowdsG3793, WhenG3752 ye seeG3708 a cloudG3507 rising out of the westG1424, straightway ye sayG3004, A shower is comingG2064; and so it happensG1096. 55And whenG3752 [ye see] the southG3558 windG3558 blowG4154, ye sayG3004, There will beG1510 heatG2742; and it happensG1096. 56HypocritesG5273, ye know howG4459 to judge of the appearanceG4383 of the earthG1093 and of the heavenG3772; howG4459 [is it then that] ye do not discern this timeG2540? 57And whyG5101 evenG2532 of yourselves judgeG2919 ye not what is rightG1342? 58For as thou goest with thine adverse party before a magistrate, strive in the wayG3598 to be reconciled with him, lest he drag thee awayG5217 to the judgeG2923, and the judgeG2923 shall deliverG3860 thee to the officerG4233, and the officerG4233 castG906 thee into prisonG5438. 59I sayG3004 unto thee, Thou shalt in no wise comeG1831 out thence until thou hast paidG591 the very lastG2078 mite.
