Luke 15
Darby Bible
1And all the tax-gatherers and the sinnersG268 wereG1510 coming near to him to hearG191 him; 2and the PhariseesG5330 and the scribesG1122 murmured, sayingG3004, This [manG3778] receivesG4327 sinnersG268 and eats with them. 3And he spokeG3004 to them this parableG3850, sayingG3004, 4What manG444 of you having a hundredG1540 sheepG4263, and having lostG622 oneG1520 of them, does not leaveG2641 the ninety and nineG1767 in the wildernessG2048 and goG4198 after that which is lostG622, until he findG2147 it? 5and having foundG2147 it, he laysG2007 it upon his own shouldersG5606, rejoicingG5463; 6and being comeG2064 to the houseG3624, calls togetherG4779 the friendsG5384 and the neighbours, sayingG3004 to them, RejoiceG4796 with me, for I have foundG2147 my lostG622 sheepG4263. 7I sayG3004 unto you, that thusG3779 there shall beG1510 joyG5479 in heavenG3772 for oneG1520 repenting sinnerG268, [more] than for ninety and nineG1767 righteousG1342 who have no needG5532 of repentanceG3341. 8Or, what womanG1135 having tenG1176 drachmas, if she loseG622 oneG1520 drachma, does not light a lampG3088 and sweep the houseG3614 and seekG2212 carefully till she findG2147 it? 9and having foundG2147 it she calls togetherG4779 the friendsG5384 and neighbours, sayingG3004, RejoiceG4796 with me, for I have foundG2147 the drachma which I had lostG622. 10ThusG3779, I sayG3004 unto you, there is joyG5479 before the angelsG32 of 1GodG2316 for oneG1520 repenting sinnerG268. 11And he saidG3004, A certainG5100 manG444 had twoG1417 sonsG5207; 12and the younger of them saidG3004 to his fatherG3962, FatherG3962, giveG1325 to me the share of the property that falls [to me]. And he divided to them what he was possessed of. 13And after not manyG4183 daysG2250 the younger sonG5207 gatheringG4863 all togetherG4863 went away into a countryG5561 a long way off, and there dissipated his property, livingG2198 in debauchery. 14But when he had spentG1159 all there aroseG1096 a violent famineG3042 throughout that countryG5561, and he beganG757 to be in want. 15And he wentG4198 and joinedG2853 himself to oneG1520 of the citizensG4177 of that countryG5561, and he sentG3992 him into his fieldsG68 to feedG1006 swine. 16And he longed to fillG1072 his bellyG2836 with the husks which the swine were eatingG2068; and no oneG3762 gaveG1325 to him. 17And comingG2064 to himself, he saidG5346, HowG4214 manyG4214 hired servants of my father's have abundanceG4052 of breadG740, and I perishG622 hereG5602 by famineG3042. 18I will riseG450 up and goG4198 to my fatherG3962, and I will sayG3004 to him, FatherG3962, I have sinnedG264 against heavenG3772 and before thee; 19I amG1510 no longer worthyG514 to beG1510 calledG2564 thy sonG5207: makeG4160 me as oneG1520 of thy hired servants. 20And he roseG450 up and went to his ownG1438 fatherG3962. But while he was yet a long way off, his fatherG3962 sawG3708 him, and was moved with compassionG4697, and ranG5143, and fell upon his neckG5137, and covered him with kisses. 21And the sonG5207 saidG3004 to him, FatherG3962, I have sinnedG264 against heavenG3772 and before thee; I amG1510 no longer worthyG514 to beG1510 calledG2564 thy sonG5207. 22But the fatherG3962 saidG3004 to his bondmen, BringG1627 out the best robeG4749 and clothe him in [it], and put a ring on his handG5495 and sandalsG5266 on his feetG4228; 23and bringG5342 the fatted calfG3448 and killG2380 it, and let us eatG2068 and make merryG2165: 24for this my sonG5207 wasG1510 deadG3498 and has come to life, wasG1510 lostG622 and has beenG1510 foundG2147. And they beganG757 to make merryG2165. 25And his elderG4245 sonG5207 wasG1510 in the fieldG68; and as, comingG2064 [up], he drew nigh to the houseG3614, he heardG191 music and dancing. 26And having calledG4341 oneG1520 of the servantsG3816, he inquiredG4441 what these thingsG3778 might beG1510. 27And he saidG3004 to him, Thy brotherG80 is comeG2240, and thy fatherG3962 has killedG2380 the fatted calfG3448 because he has receivedG618 him safe and well. 28But he became angryG3710 and would not goG1831 in. And his fatherG3962 wentG1831 out and besought him. 29But he answeringG611 saidG3004 to his fatherG3962, BeholdG2400, soG2443 manyG5118 yearsG2094 I serveG1398 thee, and neverG3763 have I transgressed a commandmentG1785 of thine; and to me hast thou neverG3763 givenG1325 a kid that I might make merryG2165 with my friendsG5384: 30but whenG3753 this thy sonG5207, who has devouredG2719 thy substance with harlots, is comeG2064, thou hast killedG2380 for him the fatted calfG3448. 31But he saidG3004 to him, ChildG5043, thou art ever with me, and all that isG1510 mine isG1510 thine. 32But it wasG1510 right to make merryG2165 and rejoiceG5463, because this thy brotherG80 wasG1510 deadG3498 and has come to life again, and wasG1510 lostG622 and has beenG1510 foundG2147.
