2 Peter Chapter 1
Darby Bible
1Simon PeterG4074, bondman and apostleG652 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547, to them that have received like precious faithG4102 with us through [the] righteousnessG1343 of our 1GodG2316 and Saviour JesusG2424 ChristG5547: 2GraceG5485 and peaceG1515 be multipliedG4129 to you in [the] knowledgeG1922 of 2GodG2316 and of JesusG2424 our LordG2962. 3As his divineG2304 powerG1411 has given to us all thingsG3956 which relate to lifeG2222 and 3godlinessG2150, through the knowledgeG1922 of him that has calledG2564 us by gloryG1391 and virtue, 4through which he has given to us the greatestG3173 and preciousG5093 promises, that through these ye may becomeG1096 partakersG2844 of [the] divineG2304 natureG5449, having escaped the corruption that is in the worldG2889 through lustG1939. 5But for this very reason alsoG2532, using therewith all diligenceG4710, in your faithG4102 have alsoG2532 virtue, in virtue knowledgeG1108, 6in knowledgeG1108 temperance, in temperance enduranceG5281, in enduranceG5281 4godlinessG2150, 7in 5godlinessG2150 brotherlyG5360 loveG26, in brotherlyG5360 loveG26 loveG26: 8for these thingsG3778 existing and abounding in you make [you] to be neither idleG692 nor unfruitfulG175 as regards the knowledgeG1922 of our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547; 9for he with whom these thingsG3778 areG1510 not present isG1510 blindG5185, short-sighted, and has forgotten the purging of his former sinsG265. 10Wherefore the ratherG3123, brethren, use diligence to makeG4160 your callingG2821 and electionG1589 sureG949, for doing these thingsG3778 ye will never fall; 11for thusG3779 shall the entrance into the everlasting kingdomG932 of our LordG2962 and Saviour JesusG2424 ChristG5547 be richlyG4146 furnished unto you. 12Wherefore I will be careful to put you alwaysG104 in mind of these thingsG3778, although knowing [them] and established in the present truthG225. 13But I account it rightG1342, as longG3745 as I amG1510 in this tabernacleG4638, to stir you up by putting [you] in remembrance, 14knowing that the putting off of my tabernacleG4638 isG1510 speedily [to take place], as alsoG2532 our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 has manifested to me; 15but I will use diligence, that after my departure ye should have alsoG2532, at any time, [in your power] to call to mind these thingsG3778. 16For we have not made known to you the powerG1411 and coming of our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, following cleverly imagined fables, but having been eyewitnesses of his majestyG3168. 17For he receivedG2983 from 6GodG2316 [the] FatherG3962 honour and gloryG1391, such a voiceG5456 beingG1510 uttered to him by the excellent gloryG1391: This isG1510 my belovedG27 SonG5207, in whom I have found my delight; 18and this voiceG5456 we heardG191 uttered from heavenG3772, beingG1510 with him on the holyG40 mountainG3735. 19And we have the prophetic wordG3056 [madeG4160] surer, to which ye do wellG2573 taking heed (as to a lampG3088 shiningG5316 in an obscure placeG5117) until [the] dayG2250 dawn and [the] morning star arise in your heartsG2588; 20knowingG1097 this firstG4413, that [the scope of] no prophecyG4394 of scriptureG1124 is had from its ownG2398 particular interpretation, 21for prophecyG4394 was not everG4218 uttered by [the] will of manG444, but holyG40 menG444 of 7GodG2316 spake under the power of [the] HolyG40 SpiritG4151.
