Darby Bible

1And he spokeG3004 alsoG2532 a parableG3850 to them to the purport that they should alwaysG3842 prayG4336 and not faint, 2sayingG3004, There wasG1510 a judgeG2923 in a cityG4172, not fearingG5399 1GodG2316 and not respecting manG444: 3and there wasG1510 a widowG5503 in that cityG4172, and she cameG2064 to him, sayingG3004, AvengeG1556 me of mineG1473 adverse party. 4And he wouldG2309 not for a timeG5550; but afterwards he saidG3004 within himself, If evenG2532 I fearG5399 not 2GodG2316 and respectG1788 not manG444, 5at any rate because this widowG5503 annoys me I will avengeG1556 her, that she may not by perpetually comingG2064 completely harass me. 6And the LordG2962 saidG3004, HearG191 what the unjust judgeG2923 saysG3004. 7And shall not 3GodG2316 at all avenge his electG1588, who cryG994 to him dayG2250 and nightG3571, and he bears long as to them? 8I sayG3004 unto you that he will avenge them speedily. But when the SonG5207 of manG444 comesG2064, shall he indeed findG2147 faithG4102 on the earthG1093? 9And he spokeG3004 alsoG2532 to some, who trustedG3982 in themselves that they wereG1510 righteousG1342 and made nothing of all the restG3062 [of menG3778], this parableG3850: 10TwoG1417 menG444 wentG305 up into the templeG2411 to prayG4336; the oneG1520 a PhariseeG5330, and the otherG2087 a tax-gatherer. 11The PhariseeG5330, standingG2476, prayedG4336 thus to himself: 4GodG2316, I thankG2168 thee that I amG1510 not as the restG3062 of menG444, rapacious, unjustG94, adulterersG3432, or evenG2532 as this tax-gatherer. 12I fastG3522 twiceG1364 in the weekG4521, I tithe everythingG3956 I gainG2932. 13And the tax-gatherer, standingG2476 afar off, would not liftG1869 up evenG3761 his eyesG3788 to heavenG3772, but smote upon his breastG4738, sayingG3004, O 5GodG2316, have compassion on me, the sinnerG268. 14I sayG3004 unto you, This [manG3778] wentG2597 downG2597 to his houseG3624 justifiedG1344 rather than that [other]. For every one who exaltsG5312 himself shall be humbledG5013, and he that humblesG5013 himself shall be exaltedG5312. 15And they broughtG4374 to him alsoG2532 infantsG1025 that he might touchG681 them, but the disciplesG3101 when they sawG3708 [it] rebukedG2008 them. 16But JesusG2424 callingG4341 them to [him] saidG3004, Suffer little childrenG3813 to comeG2064 to me, and do not forbidG2967 them, for of suchG5108 isG1510 the kingdomG932 of 6GodG2316. 17Verily I sayG3004 to you, Whosoever shall not receiveG1209 the kingdomG932 of 7GodG2316 as a little childG3813 shall in no wise enterG1525 therein. 18And a certainG5100 rulerG758 askedG1905 him sayingG3004, GoodG18 teacherG1320, having done what, shall I inheritG2816 eternalG166 lifeG2222? 19But JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, WhyG5101 callest thou me goodG18? There is noneG3762 goodG18 but oneG1520, 8GodG2316. 20Thou knowest the commandmentsG1785: Do not commitG3431 adulteryG3431, Do not kill, Do not stealG2813, Do not bearG5576 falseG5576 witnessG5576, Honour thy fatherG3962 and thy motherG3384. 21And he saidG3004, All these thingsG3778 have I keptG5442 from my youthG3503. 22And when JesusG2424 had heardG191 this, he saidG3004 to him, OneG1520 thingG1520 is lackingG3007 to thee yet: SellG4453 all that thou hast and distribute to the poorG4434, and thou shalt have treasureG2344 in the heavensG3772, and comeG1204, followG190 me. 23But when he heardG191 this he becameG1096 very sorrowful, for he wasG1510 very richG4145. 24But when JesusG2424 sawG3708 that he became very sorrowful, he saidG3004, HowG4459 difficultly shall those who have riches enterG1531 into the kingdomG932 of 9GodG2316; 25for it isG1510 easier for a camelG2574 to enterG1525 through a needle's eye than for a richG4145 manG4145 to enterG1525 into the kingdomG932 of 10GodG2316. 26And those who heardG191 it saidG3004, And who can be savedG4982? 27But he saidG3004, The things that areG1510 impossibleG102 with menG444 areG1510 possibleG1415 with 11GodG2316. 28And PeterG4074 saidG3004, BeholdG2400, we have leftG863 all things and have followedG190 thee. 29And he saidG3004 to them, Verily I sayG3004 to you, There isG1510 no oneG3762 who has leftG863 home, or parentsG1118, or brethren, or wifeG1135, or childrenG5043, for the kingdomG932 of 12God's sakeG1752, 30who shall not receiveG618 manifold more at this timeG2540, and in the comingG2064 ageG165 lifeG2222 eternalG166. 31And he tookG3880 the twelveG1427 to [him] and saidG3004 to them, BeholdG2400, we goG305 up to JerusalemG2419, and all thingsG3956 that are writtenG1125 of the SonG5207 of manG444 by the prophetsG4396 shall be accomplishedG5055; 32for he shall be deliveredG3860 up to the nationsG1484, and shall be mockedG1702, and insulted, and spitG1716 upon. 33And when they have scourged [him] they will killG615 him; and on the thirdG5154 dayG2250 he will riseG450 againG450. 34And they understoodG1097 nothing of these thingsG3778. And this word wasG1510 hiddenG2928 from them, and they did not knowG1097 what wasG1510 saidG3004. 35And it cameG1096 to passG1096 when he cameG1096 into the neighbourhood of JerichoG2410, a certainG5100 blindG5185 man satG2521 by the wayside begging. 36And when he heardG191 the crowdG3793 passing, he inquiredG4441 what this might beG1510. 37And they toldG518 him that JesusG2424 the Nazaraean was passingG3928 by. 38And he called out sayingG3004, JesusG2424, SonG5207 of DavidG1138, have mercyG1653 on me. 39And those [who were] goingG4254 before rebukedG2008 him that he might be silentG4601; but he criedG2896 out soG2443 muchG4183 the moreG3123, SonG5207 of DavidG1138, have mercyG1653 on me. 40And JesusG2424 stoodG2476 still, and commandedG2753 him to be ledG71 to him. And when he drew nigh he askedG1905 him [saying], 41What wilt thou that I shall do to thee? And he saidG3004, LordG2962, that I may seeG308. 42And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, SeeG308: thy faithG4102 has healed thee. 43And immediatelyG3916 he sawG3708, and followedG190 him, glorifyingG1392 13GodG2316. And all the peopleG2992 when they sawG3708 [it] gaveG1325 praiseG136 to 14GodG2316.
