Joshua Chapter 1
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass after the deathH4194 of MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah, that Jehovah spoke to JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, Moses' attendant, sayingH559, 2MosesH4872 my servantH5650 is deadH4191; and nowH6258, riseH6965 up, go over this JordanH3383, thou and all this peopleH5971, into the landH776 which I giveH5414 unto them, to the children of IsraelH3478. 3Every placeH4725 whereon the soleH3709 of your footH7272 shall treadH1869 have I givenH5414 to you, as I saidH1696 unto MosesH4872. 4From the wildernessH4057 and this LebanonH3844 to the greatH1419 riverH5104, the riverH5104 EuphratesH6578, the whole landH776 of the HittitesH2850, to the greatH1419 seaH3220, toward the going down of the sunH8121, shall beH1961 your borderH1366. 5None shall beH1961 able to standH3320 before thee all the daysH3117 of thy life: as I wasH1961 with MosesH4872, so will I beH1961 with thee; I will not leaveH5800 thee, neither will I forsakeH5800 thee. 6Be strongH2388 and courageousH553, for thou shalt cause this peopleH5971 to inheritH5157 the landH776 which I have swornH7650 unto their fathersH1 to giveH5414 them. 7OnlyH7535 be strongH2388 and veryH3966 courageousH553, that thou mayest takeH2388 heedH8104 to do according to all the lawH8451 that MosesH4872 my servantH5650 commandedH6680 thee. TurnH5493 not from it to the rightH3225 or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8This bookH5612 of the lawH8451 shall not departH4185 from thy mouthH6310; and thou shalt meditateH1897 upon it dayH3119 and nightH3915, that thou mayest takeH8104 heedH8104 to do according to all that is writtenH3789 therein; for thenH227 shalt thou have good successH6743 in thy waysH1870, and thenH227 shalt thou prosperH6743. 9Have I not commandedH6680 thee: Be strongH2388 and courageousH553? Be not afraid, neither be dismayedH2865; for Jehovah thy 1GodH430 is with thee whithersoever thou goest. 10And JoshuaH3091 commandedH6680 the officersH7860 of the peopleH5971, sayingH559, 11GoH935 through the midstH7130 of the campH4264, and commandH6680 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, PrepareH3559 yourselves victuals, for in threeH7969 daysH3117 ye shall passH5674 over this JordanH3383, that ye may enter in to takeH3423 possessionH3423 of the landH776 which Jehovah your 2GodH430 giveth you to possessH3423 it. 12And to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to halfH2677 the tribeH7626 of ManassehH4519 spoke JoshuaH3091, sayingH559, 13RememberH2142 the wordH1697 that MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah commandedH6680 you, sayingH559, Jehovah your 3GodH430 has givenH5414 you restH5117 and has givenH5414 you this landH776. 14Your wivesH802, your littleH2945 onesH2945, and your cattle shall abide in the landH776 that MosesH4872 gaveH5414 you on this sideH5676 of the JordanH3383, but ye, all the valiant menH1368, shall go over in arrayH2571 before your brethren and helpH5826 them, 15until Jehovah giveH5414 your brethren restH5117 as to you, and they alsoH1571 takeH3423 possessionH3423 of the landH776 which Jehovah your 4GodH430 giveth them; then shall ye returnH7725 into the landH776 of your possessionH3423 and possessH3423 it, which MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah gaveH5414 you on this sideH5676 of the JordanH3383 toward the sun-rising. 16And they answered JoshuaH3091, sayingH559, All that thou hast commandedH6680 us will we do, and whither thou shalt sendH7971 us will we goH7971. 17According as we hearkened to MosesH4872 in all things, soH3651 will we hearken to thee; onlyH7535 may Jehovah thy 5GodH430 beH1961 with thee as he wasH1961 with MosesH4872. 18Every oneH376 that is rebelliousH4784 against thy commandment and hearkeneth not to thy wordsH1697 in everythingH3605 that thou commandest us, shall be putH4191 to deathH4191. OnlyH7535 be strongH2388 and courageousH553.
