1 Corinthians Chapter 1
Darby Bible
1PaulG3972, [a] calledG2822 apostleG652 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547, by 1God's will, and SosthenesG4988 the brotherG80, 2to the assemblyG1577 of 2GodG2316 which isG1510 in CorinthG2882, to [those] sanctifiedG37 in ChristG5547 JesusG2424, calledG1941 saintsG40, with all that in every placeG5117 callG1941 on the nameG3686 of our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, both theirs and ours: 3GraceG5485 to you and peaceG1515 from 3GodG2316 our FatherG3962, and [the] LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547. 4I thankG2168 my 4GodG2316 alwaysG3842 about you, in respect of the graceG5485 of 5GodG2316 givenG1325 to you in ChristG5547 JesusG2424; 5that in everythingG3956 ye have been enrichedG4148 in him, in all wordG3056 [of doctrine], and all knowledgeG1108, 6(according as the testimonyG3142 of the ChristG5547 has been confirmedG950 in you,) 7soG5620 that ye come shortG5302 in no giftG5486, awaitingG553 the revelationG602 of our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547; 8who shall alsoG2532 confirmG950 you to [the] endG5056, unimpeachable in the dayG2250 of our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547. 96GodG2316 [is] faithfulG4103, by whom ye have been calledG2564 into [the] fellowshipG2842 of his SonG5207 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 our LordG2962. 10NowG1161 I exhortG3870 you, brethren, by the nameG3686 of our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, that ye all sayG3004 the sameG846 thing, and that there beG1510 not among you divisionsG4978; but that ye beG1510 perfectly united in the sameG846 mindG3563 and in the sameG846 opinion. 11For it has beenG1510 shewn to me concerningG4012 you, my brethren, by those of [the house of] Chloe, that there areG1510 strifes among you. 12But I speakG3004 of this, that each of you saysG3004, I amG1510 of PaulG3972, and I of ApollosG625, and I of CephasG2786, and I of ChristG5547. 13Is the ChristG5547 divided? has PaulG3972 been crucifiedG4717 for you? or have ye been baptised unto the nameG3686 of PaulG3972? 14I thankG2168 7God that I have baptised noneG3762 of you, unless CrispusG2921 and GaiusG1050, 15that no oneG5100 may sayG3004 that I have baptised unto my own nameG3686. 16Yes, I baptised alsoG2532 the houseG3624 of StephanasG4734; for the rest I know not if I have baptised any otherG243. 17For ChristG5547 has not sentG649 me to baptise, but to preach glad tidings; not in wisdomG4678 of wordG3056, that the crossG4716 of the ChristG5547 may not be made vain. 18For the wordG3056 of the crossG4716 isG1510 to them that perishG622 foolishnessG3472, but to us that areG1510 savedG4982 it isG1510 8God's powerG1411. 19For it is writtenG1125, I will destroyG622 the wisdomG4678 of the wiseG4680, and setG114 asideG114 the understandingG4907 of the understandingG4907 ones. 20WhereG4226 [is the] wiseG4680? whereG4226 scribeG1122? whereG4226 disputer of this worldG2889? has not 9GodG2316 made foolish the wisdomG4678 of the worldG2889? 21For since, in the wisdomG4678 of 10GodG2316, the worldG2889 by wisdomG4678 has not knownG1097 11GodG2316, 12GodG2316 has been pleased by the foolishnessG3472 of the preachingG2782 to saveG4982 those that believeG4100. 22Since JewsG2453 indeed askG154 for signsG4592, and GreeksG1672 seekG2212 wisdomG4678; 23but we preachG2784 ChristG5547 crucifiedG4717, to JewsG2453 an offence, and to nationsG1484 foolishnessG3472; 24but to those that [are] calledG2822, both JewsG2453 and GreeksG1672, ChristG5547 13God's powerG1411 and 14God's wisdomG4678. 25Because the foolishness of 15GodG2316 isG1510 wiser than menG444, and the weaknessG772 of 16GodG2316 isG1510 strongerG2478 than menG444. 26For considerG991 your callingG2821, brethren, that [there are] not manyG4183 wiseG4680 accordingG2596 to fleshG4561, not manyG4183 powerfulG1415, not manyG4183 high-born. 27But 17GodG2316 has chosen the foolishG3474 things of the worldG2889, that he may put to shameG2617 the wiseG4680; and 18GodG2316 has chosen the weakG772 things of the worldG2889, that he may put to shameG2617 the strongG2478 things; 28and the ignoble things of the worldG2889, and the despisedG1848, has 19GodG2316 chosen, [and] things that areG1510 not, that he may annul the things that areG1510; 29soG3704 that no fleshG4561 should boastG2744 before 20GodG2316. 30But of him areG1510 ye in ChristG5547 JesusG2424, who has beenG1510 made to us wisdomG4678 from 21GodG2316, and righteousnessG1343, and holinessG38, and redemptionG629; 31that according as it is writtenG1125, He that boastsG2744, let him boastG2744 in [the] LordG2962.
