Darby Bible

1And he saidG3004 alsoG2532 to [his] disciplesG3101, There wasG1510 a certainG5100 richG4145 manG444 who had a stewardG3623, and he wasG1510 accused to him as wasting his goods. 2And having called him, he saidG3004 to him, What [is] this that I hearG191 of thee? giveG591 the reckoning of thy stewardshipG3622, for thou canst be noG3756 longerG2089 steward. 3And the stewardG3623 saidG3004 within himself, What shall I do; for my lordG2962 is takingG851 the stewardshipG3622 from me? I am not ableG2480 to digG4626; I am ashamedG153 to beg. 4I knowG1097 what I will do, that whenG3752 I shall have been removed from the stewardshipG3622 I may be receivedG1209 into their houses. 5And having called to [him] each oneG1520 of the debtorsG5533 of his ownG1438 lordG2962, he saidG3004 to the firstG4413, HowG4214 muchG4214 owest thou to my lordG2962? 6And he saidG3004, A hundredG1540 baths of oilG1637. And he saidG3004 to him, TakeG1209 thy writingG1125 and sitG2523 down quickly and writeG1125 fiftyG4004. 7Then he saidG3004 to another, And thou, howG4214 muchG4214 dost thou oweG3784? And he saidG3004, A hundredG1540 cors of wheatG4621. And he saysG3004 to him, TakeG1209 thy writingG1125 and writeG1125 eightyG3589. 8And the lordG2962 praisedG1867 the unrighteousG93 stewardG3623 because he had done prudently. For the sonsG5207 of this world areG1510, for their ownG1438 generationG1074, more prudent than the sonsG5207 of lightG5457. 9And I sayG3004 to you, MakeG4160 to yourselves friendsG5384 with the mammon of unrighteousnessG93, that whenG3752 it failsG1587 ye may be receivedG1209 into the eternalG166 tabernaclesG4633. 10He that isG1510 faithfulG4103 in the leastG1646 isG1510 faithfulG4103 alsoG2532 in muchG4183; and he that isG1510 unrighteousG94 in the leastG1646 isG1510 unrighteousG94 alsoG2532 in muchG4183. 11If thereforeG3767 ye have not been faithfulG4103 in the unrighteousG94 mammon, who shall entrustG4100 to you the trueG228? 12and if ye have not been faithfulG4103 in that which is another's, who shall giveG1325 to you your own? 13No servantG3610 can serveG1398 twoG1417 mastersG2962, for either he will hateG3404 the oneG1520 and will loveG25 the otherG2087, or he will cleave to the oneG1520 and despiseG2706 the otherG2087. Ye cannot serveG1398 1GodG2316 and mammon. 14And the PhariseesG5330 alsoG2532, who were covetous, heardG191 all these thingsG3778, and mocked him. 15And he saidG3004 to them, Ye areG1510 they who justifyG1344 themselves before menG444, but 2GodG2316 knowsG1097 your heartsG2588; for what amongst menG444 isG1510 highly thought of isG1510 an abominationG946 before 3GodG2316. 16The lawG3551 and the prophetsG4396 [were] until JohnG2491: from that timeG5119 the glad tidings of the kingdomG932 of 4GodG2316 are announced, and every one forces his way into it. 17But it isG1510 easier that the heavenG3772 and the earthG1093 should passG3928 awayG3928 than that oneG1520 tittle of the lawG3551 should fail. 18Every oneG3588 who puts awayG630 his wifeG1135 and marriesG1060 another commitsG3431 adulteryG3431; and every oneG3588 that marriesG1060 oneG3588 put awayG630 from a husbandG435 commitsG3431 adulteryG3431. 19NowG1161 there wasG1510 a richG4145 manG444 and he wasG1510 clothed in purpleG4209 and fine linen, making good cheer in splendour every dayG2250. 20And [there was] a poorG4434 man, by nameG3686 LazarusG2976, [who] was laid at his gateway full of sores, 21and desiring to be filledG5526 with the crumbs which fellG4098 from the tableG5132 of the richG4145 manG4145; but the dogsG2965 alsoG2532 comingG2064 licked his sores. 22And it cameG1096 to passG1096 that the poorG4434 manG4145 diedG599, and that he was carried awayG667 by the angelsG32 into the bosomG2859 of AbrahamG11. And the richG4145 manG4145 alsoG2532 diedG599 and was buriedG2290. 23And in hadesG86 liftingG1869 up his eyesG3788, being in torments, he seesG3708 AbrahamG11 afar off, and LazarusG2976 in his bosomG2859. 24And he crying out saidG3004, FatherG3962 AbrahamG11, have compassion on me, and sendG3992 LazarusG2976 that he may dipG911 the tip of his fingerG1147 in waterG5204 and cool my tongueG1100, for I am suffering in this flameG5395. 25But AbrahamG11 saidG3004, ChildG5043, recollect that thou hast fully receivedG618 thy goodG18 thingsG18 in thy lifetime, and likewiseG3668 LazarusG2976 evilG2556 thingsG18. But nowG1161 he is comfortedG3870 hereG5602, and thou art in suffering. 26And besides all this, between us and you a greatG3173 chasm is fixed, so that those who desireG2309 to pass hence to you cannot, nor do they who [desireG2309 to cross] from there pass over unto us. 27And he saidG3004, I beseech thee thenG3767, fatherG3962, that thou wouldest sendG3992 him to the houseG3624 of my fatherG3962, 28for I have fiveG4002 brothersG80, soG2443 that he may earnestly testifyG1263 to them, that they alsoG2532 may not comeG2064 to this placeG5117 of tormentG931. 29But AbrahamG11 saysG3004 to him, They have MosesG3475 and the prophetsG4396: let them hearG191 them. 30But he saidG3004, Nay, fatherG3962 AbrahamG11, but if oneG5100 from the deadG3498 should goG4198 to them, they will repentG3340. 31And he saidG3004 to him, If they hearG191 not MosesG3475 and the prophetsG4396, not evenG2532 if oneG5100 riseG450 from among [the] deadG3498 will they be persuadedG3982.
