Haggai Chapter 1
Darby Bible
1In the second yearH8141 of DariusH1867 the kingH4428, in the sixthH8345 monthH2320, on the first dayH3117 of the monthH2320, came the wordH1697 of Jehovah by the prophetH5030 HaggaiH2292 unto ZerubbabelH2216 the sonH1121 of ShealtielH7597, governorH6346 of JudahH3063, and to JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of JehozadakH3087, the high priestH3548, sayingH559, 2ThusH3541 speaketh Jehovah of hostsH6635, sayingH559, This peopleH5971 sayH559, The timeH6256 is not comeH935, the timeH6256 that Jehovah's houseH1004 should be builtH1129. 3And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came by HaggaiH2292 the prophetH5030, sayingH559, 4Is it timeH6256 for you that ye should dwellH3427 in your wainscoted housesH1004, while this houseH1004 lieth waste? 5And nowH6258 thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: Consider your waysH1870. 6Ye have sownH2232 muchH7235, and bringH935 in littleH4592; ye eatH398, but are not satisfied; ye drinkH8354, but are not filled with drinkH8354; ye clotheH3847 yourselves, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages for a bagH6872 with holes. 7ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: Consider your waysH1870. 8GoH935 up to the mountainH2022 and bringH935 woodH6086, and buildH1129 the houseH1004, and I will take pleasureH7521 in it, and I will be glorifiedH3513, saith Jehovah. 9Ye looked for muchH7235, and behold it was littleH4592; and whenH834 ye broughtH935 it home, I blew upon it. Wherefore? saith Jehovah of hostsH6635. Because of my houseH1004 that lieth waste, whilst ye runH7323 every manH376 to his own houseH1004. 10ThereforeH3651 over you the heavensH8064 withholdH3607 their dewH2919, and the earthH776 withholdeth its fruit. 11And I calledH7121 for a drought upon the landH776, and upon the mountainsH2022, and upon the corn, and upon the newH8492 wineH8492, and upon the oilH3323, and upon that which the groundH776 bringeth forthH3318, and upon manH120, and upon cattleH929, and upon all the labour of the handsH3709. 12And ZerubbabelH2216 the sonH1121 of ShealtielH7597, and JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of JehozadakH3087, the high priestH3548, and all the remnantH7611 of the peopleH5971, hearkened to the voiceH6963 of Jehovah their 1GodH430, and the wordsH1697 of HaggaiH2292 the prophetH5030, according as Jehovah their 2GodH430 had sentH7971 him, and the peopleH5971 fearedH3372 before Jehovah. 13Then spoke HaggaiH2292, Jehovah's messengerH4397, in Jehovah's message unto the peopleH5971, sayingH559, I am with you, saith Jehovah. 14And Jehovah stirredH5782 up the spiritH7307 of ZerubbabelH2216 the sonH1121 of ShealtielH7597, governorH6346 of JudahH3063, and the spiritH7307 of JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of JehozadakH3087, the high priestH3548, and the spiritH7307 of all the remnantH7611 of the peopleH5971; and they cameH935 and workedH4399 at the houseH1004 of Jehovah of hostsH6635, their 3GodH430, 15in the fourH702 and twentieth dayH3117 of the sixthH8345 monthH2320, in the second yearH8141 of DariusH1867 the kingH4428.
