1And having calledG4779 togetherG4779 the twelveG1427, he gaveG1325 them powerG1411 and authorityG1849 over all demonsG1140, and to healG2323 diseasesG3554, 2and sentG649 them to proclaimG2784 the kingdomG932 of 1GodG2316 and to healG2390 the sickG772. 3And he saidG3004 to them, TakeG142 nothingG3367 for the wayG3598, neither staffG4464, nor scrip, nor breadG740, nor moneyG694; nor to have twoG1417 body-coats apiece. 4And into whatsoever houseG3614 ye enterG1525, there abideG3306 and thence goG1831 forthG1831. 5And as manyG3745 as may not receiveG1209 you, goingG1831 forthG1831 from that cityG4172, shake off evenG2532 the dustG2868 from your feetG4228 for a witness against them. 6And goingG1330 forthG1831 they passedG1330 through the villagesG2968, announcing the glad tidings and healingG2323 everywhereG3837. 7And HerodG2264 the tetrarch heardG191 of all the thingsG3956 which were done [by him], and was in perplexity, because it was saidG3004 by some that JohnG2491 was risenG1453 from among [the] deadG3498, 8and by some that Elias had appearedG5316, and by othersG243 that oneG5100 of the oldG744 prophetsG4396 had risenG450 againG450. 9And HerodG2264 saidG3004, JohnG2491 I have beheadedG607, but who isG1510 this of whom I hearG191 suchG5108 thingsG3778? and he soughtG2212 to seeG3708 him. 10And the apostlesG652 having returnedG5290 related to him whatever they had done. And he tookG3880 them and withdrew apart into [a desert place of] a cityG4172 calledG2564 BethsaidaG966. 11But the crowdsG3793 knowingG1097 [it] followedG190 him; and he received them and spake to them of the kingdomG932 of 2GodG2316, and cured those that had needG5532 of healingG2390. 12But the dayG2250 beganG757 to decline, and the twelveG1427 cameG4334 and saidG3004 to him, SendG630 awayG630 the crowdG3793 that they may goG4198 into the villagesG2968 around, and [into] the fieldsG68, and lodge and findG2147 victuals, for hereG5602 we areG1510 in a desert placeG5117. 13And he saidG3004 to them, GiveG1325 ye them to eatG2068. And they saidG3004, We have not moreG4183 than fiveG4002 loavesG740 and twoG1417 fishes, unless we should goG4198 and buyG59 foodG1033 for all this peopleG2992; 14for they wereG1510 about fiveG4000 thousandG4000 menG435. And he saidG3004 to his disciplesG3101, Make them sit down in companies by fiftiesG4004. 15And they did so, and madeG4160 them all sit down. 16And takingG2983 the fiveG4002 loavesG740 and the twoG1417 fishes, lookingG308 up to heavenG3772 he blessedG2127 them, and broke and gaveG1325 to the disciplesG3101 to setG3908 before the crowdG3793. 17And they all ateG2068 and were filledG5526; and there was takenG142 up of what had remained over and above to them in fragmentsG2801 twelveG1427 hand-baskets. 18And it cameG1096 to passG1096 as he wasG1510 prayingG4336 aloneG3441, his disciplesG3101 wereG1510 with him, and he askedG1905 them sayingG3004, Who do the crowdsG3793 sayG3004 that I amG1510? 19But they answeringG611 saidG3004, JohnG2491 the baptistG910; but othersG243, Elias; and othersG243, that oneG5100 of the oldG744 prophetsG4396 has risenG450 againG450. 20And he saidG3004 to them, But ye, who do ye sayG3004 that I amG1510? And PeterG4074 answeringG611 saidG3004, The ChristG5547 of 3GodG2316. 21But, earnestly charging them, he enjoined [them] to sayG3004 this to no manG3778, 22sayingG3004, The SonG5207 of manG444 must sufferG3958 manyG4183 thingsG4183, and be rejectedG593 of the eldersG4245 and chiefG749 priestsG749 and scribesG1122, and be killedG615, and the thirdG5154 dayG2250 be raisedG1453 up. 23And he saidG3004 to [them] all, If any oneG5100 will comeG2064 after me, let him denyG720 himself and takeG142 up his crossG4716 daily and followG190 me; 24for whosoever shall desireG2309 to saveG4982 his lifeG5590 shall loseG622 it, but whosoever shall loseG622 his lifeG5590 for my sakeG1752, he shall saveG4982 it. 25For what shall a manG444 profitG5623 if he shall have gainedG2770 the wholeG3650 worldG2889, and have destroyedG622, or come under the penalty of the lossG2210 of himself? 26For whosoever shall have been ashamedG1870 of me and of my wordsG3056, of him will the SonG5207 of manG444 be ashamedG1870 whenG3752 he shall comeG2064 in his gloryG1391, and [in that] of the FatherG3962, and of the holyG40 angelsG32. 27But I sayG3004 unto you of a truth, There areG1510 some of those standingG2476 here who shall not tasteG1089 deathG2288 until they shall have seenG3708 the kingdomG932 of 4GodG2316. 28And it cameG1096 to passG1096 after these wordsG3056, about eightG3638 daysG2250, that taking PeterG4074 and JohnG2491 and JamesG2385 he wentG305 up into a mountainG3735 to prayG4336. 29And as he prayedG4336 the fashion of his countenance becameG1096 differentG2087 and his raiment whiteG3022 [and] effulgent. 30And lo, twoG1417 menG435 talked with him, who wereG1510 MosesG3475 and Elias, 31who, appearing in gloryG1391, spokeG3004 of his departure which he was about to accomplish in JerusalemG2419. 32But PeterG4074 and those with him wereG1510 oppressed with sleepG5258: but having fully awoke up they sawG3708 his gloryG1391, and the twoG1417 menG435 who stood with him. 33And it cameG1096 to passG1096 as they departed from him, PeterG4074 saidG3004 to JesusG2424, MasterG1988, it isG1510 goodG2570 for us to beG1510 hereG5602; and let us makeG4160 threeG5140 tabernaclesG4633, oneG1520 for thee, and oneG1520 for MosesG3475, and oneG1520 for Elias: not knowing what he saidG3004. 34But as he was sayingG3004 these thingsG3778, there cameG1096 a cloudG3507 and overshadowedG1982 them, and they fearedG5399 as they enteredG1525 into the cloudG3507: 35and there wasG1510 a voiceG5456 out of the cloudG3507 sayingG3004, This isG1510 my beloved SonG5207: hearG191 him. 36And as the voiceG5456 was [heard] JesusG2424 was foundG2147 aloneG3441: and they kept silence, and toldG518 no oneG3762 in those daysG2250 any of the thingsG3739 they had seenG3708. 37And it cameG1096 to passG1096 on the following dayG2250, when they cameG1096 downG2718 from the mountainG3735, a greatG4183 crowdG3793 met him. 38And lo, a manG435 from the crowdG3793 criedG994 out sayingG3004, TeacherG1320, I beseech thee look upon my sonG5207, for he isG1510 mineG1473 onlyG3439 child: 39and beholdG2400, a spiritG4151 takesG2983 him, and suddenlyG1810 he criesG2896 out, and it tears him with foaming, and with difficulty departs from him after crushing him. 40And I besought thy disciplesG3101 that they might castG1544 him out, and they could not. 41And JesusG2424 answeringG611 saidG3004, O unbelievingG571 and pervertedG1294 generationG1074, how long shall I beG1510 with you and suffer you? BringG4317 hither thy sonG5207. 42But as he was yet comingG4334, the demonG1140 tore him and dragged him all together. And JesusG2424 rebukedG2008 the uncleanG169 spiritG4151, and healedG2390 the childG3816 and gaveG591 him backG591 to his fatherG3962. 43And all were astonishedG1605 at the glorious greatness of 5GodG2316. And as all wonderedG2296 at all the thingsG3956 which [Jesus] did, he saidG3004 to his disciplesG3101, 44Do ye let these wordsG3056 sink into your earsG3775. For the SonG5207 of manG444 is about to be deliveredG3860 into men's handsG5495. 45But they understood not this saying, and it wasG1510 hid from them that they should not perceive it. And they fearedG5399 to askG2065 him concerningG4012 this saying. 46And a reasoning cameG1525 in amongst them, who should beG1510 [the] greatestG3173 of them. 47And JesusG2424, seeingG3708 the reasoning of their heartG2588, having taken a little childG3813 setG2476 it by him, 48and saidG3004 to them, Whosoever shall receiveG1209 this littleG3398 childG3813 in my nameG3686 receivesG1209 me, and whosoever shall receiveG1209 me receivesG1209 him that sentG649 me. For he who isG1510 the leastG3398 among you all, he isG1510 greatG3173. 49And JohnG2491 answeringG611 saidG3004, MasterG1988, we sawG3708 some oneG5100 casting out demonsG1140 in thy nameG3686, and we forbad him, because he follows not with us. 50And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, ForbidG2967 [him] not, for he that isG1510 not against you isG1510 for you. 51And it cameG1096 to passG1096 when the daysG2250 of his receiving up were fulfilled, that he stedfastly set his faceG4383 to goG4198 to JerusalemG2419. 52And he sentG649 messengersG32 before his faceG4383. And having goneG4198 they enteredG1525 into a villageG2968 of the SamaritansG4541 that they might makeG2090 readyG2090 for him. 53And they did not receiveG1209 him, because his faceG4383 wasG1510 [turned as] goingG4198 to JerusalemG2419. 54And his disciplesG3101 JamesG2385 and JohnG2491 seeingG3708 [it] saidG3004, LordG2962, wilt thou that we speakG3004 [that] fireG4442 comeG2597 down from heavenG3772 and consume them, as alsoG2532 Elias did? 55But turningG4762 he rebukedG2008 them [and said, Ye know not of what spirit ye are]. 56And they wentG4198 to another villageG2968. 57And it came to pass as they wentG565 in the wayG3598, oneG5100 saidG3004 to him, I will followG190 thee wheresoever thou goest, Lord. 58And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, The foxesG258 have holes and the birdsG4071 of the heavenG3772 roosting-places, but the SonG5207 of manG444 has not whereG4226 he may lay his headG2776. 59And he saidG3004 to another, FollowG190 me. But he saidG3004, LordG2962, allowG2010 me to goG565 firstG4413 and buryG2290 my fatherG3962. 60But Jesus saidG3004 to him, Suffer the deadG3498 to buryG2290 their ownG1438 deadG3498, but do thou goG565 and announce the kingdomG932 of 6GodG2316. 61And another alsoG2532 saidG3004, I will followG190 thee, LordG2962, but firstG4413 allowG2010 me to bid adieu to those at my houseG3624. 62But JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, No oneG3762 having laidG1911 his handG5495 on [the] plough and lookingG991 backG3694 isG1510 fit for the kingdomG932 of 7GodG2316.
