1But JesusG2424, fullG4134 of [the] HolyG40 SpiritG4151, returnedG5290 from the JordanG2446, and was ledG71 by the SpiritG4151 in the wildernessG2048 2fortyG5062 daysG2250, temptedG3985 of the devilG1228; and in those daysG2250 he did not eatG2068 anything, and when they were finished he hungered. 3And the devilG1228 saidG3004 to him, If thou beG1510 SonG5207 of 1GodG2316, speakG3004 to this stoneG3037, that it becomeG1096 breadG740. 4And JesusG2424 answeredG611 unto him saying, It is writtenG1125, ManG444 shall not liveG2198 by breadG740 aloneG3441, but by every word of 2God. 5And [the devil], leading him up into a high mountain, shewed him all the kingdomsG932 of the habitable worldG3625 in a moment of timeG5550. 6And the devilG1228 saidG3004 to him, I will giveG1325 thee all this powerG1849, and their gloryG1391; for it is givenG1325 up to me, and to whomsoever I will I giveG1325 it. 7If thereforeG3767 thou wilt do homage before me, all [of it] shall beG1510 thine. 8And JesusG2424 answeringG611 him saidG3004, It is writtenG1125, Thou shalt do homage to [the] LordG2962 thy 3GodG2316, and him aloneG3441 shalt thou serveG3000. 9And he ledG71 him to JerusalemG2419, and setG2476 him on the edge of the temple, and saidG3004 to him, If thou beG1510 SonG5207 of 4GodG2316, castG906 thyself downG2736 hence; 10for it is writtenG1125, He shall give charge to his angelsG32 concerningG4012 thee to keep thee; 11and on [their] handsG5495 shall they bearG142 thee, lest in any wise thou strikeG4350 thy footG4228 against a stoneG3037. 12And JesusG2424 answeringG611 saidG3004 to him, It is saidG3004, Thou shalt not tempt [the] LordG2962 thy 5GodG2316. 13And the devilG1228, having completed every temptationG3986, departedG868 from him for a timeG2540. 14And JesusG2424 returnedG5290 in the powerG1411 of the SpiritG4151 to GalileeG1056; and a rumour wentG1831 out into the wholeG3650 surroundingG4066 country about him; 15and he taughtG1321 in their synagoguesG4864, being glorifiedG1392 of all. 16And he cameG2064 to NazarethG3478, whereG3757 he wasG1510 brought up; and he enteredG1525, accordingG2596 to his custom, into the synagogueG4864 on the sabbathG4521 dayG2250, and stoodG450 up to readG314. 17And [the] bookG975 of the prophetG4396 Esaias wasG1510 given to him; and having unrolled the bookG975 he foundG2147 the placeG5117 whereG3757 it wasG1510 writtenG1125, 18[The] SpiritG4151 of [the] LordG2962 is upon me, because he has anointedG5548 me to preachG2784 glad tidings to [the] poorG4434; he has sentG649 me to preachG2784 to captives deliverance, and to [the] blindG5185 sight, to sendG649 forthG649 [the] crushed delivered, 19to preachG2784 [the] acceptableG1184 yearG1763 of [the] LordG2962. 20And having rolled up the bookG975, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he satG2523 downG2523; and the eyesG3788 of all in the synagogueG4864 wereG1510 fixed upon him. 21And he beganG757 to sayG3004 to them, To-day this scriptureG1124 is fulfilled in your earsG3775. 22And all bore witnessG3140 to him, and wonderedG2296 at the wordsG3056 of graceG5485 which wereG1510 comingG1607 out of his mouthG4750. And they saidG3004, IsG1510 not this the sonG5207 of JosephG2501? 23And he saidG3004 to them, Ye will surely sayG3004 to me this parableG3850, PhysicianG2395, healG2323 thyself; whatsoever we have heardG191 has taken placeG1096 in CapernaumG2584 do hereG5602 alsoG2532 in thine ownG1438 country. 24And he saidG3004, Verily I sayG3004 to you, that no prophetG4396 isG1510 acceptableG1184 in his [ownG1438] country. 25But of a truthG225 I sayG3004 to you, There wereG1510 manyG4183 widowsG5503 in IsraelG2474 in the daysG2250 of Elias, whenG3753 the heavenG3772 wasG1510 shutG2808 up for threeG5140 yearsG2094 and sixG1803 monthsG3376, so that a greatG3173 famineG3042 cameG1096 upon all the landG1093, 26and to noneG3762 of them was Elias sentG3992 but to Sarepta of Sidonia, to a womanG1135 [that was] a widowG5503. 27And there wereG1510 manyG4183 lepersG3015 in IsraelG2474 in the time of Elisha the prophetG4396, and noneG3762 of them wasG1510 cleansedG2511 but Naaman the Syrian. 28And they were all filledG4130 with rageG2372 in the synagogueG4864, hearingG191 these thingsG3778; 29and risingG450 up they castG1544 him forth out of the cityG4172, and ledG71 him up to the brow of the mountainG3735 upon which their cityG4172 was builtG3618, so that they might throw him down the precipice; 30but he, passingG1330 through the midstG3319 of them, wentG4198 his way, 31and descended to CapernaumG2584, a cityG4172 of GalileeG1056, and taughtG1321 them on the sabbathsG4521. 32And they wereG1510 astonishedG1605 at his doctrine, for his wordG3056 wasG1510 with authorityG1849. 33And there wasG1510 in the synagogueG4864 a manG444 having a spiritG4151 of an uncleanG169 demonG1140, and he cried with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, 34saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, JesusG2424, NazareneG3479? hast thou comeG2064 to destroyG622 us? I know thee who thou art, the HolyG40 [OneG3588] of 6GodG2316. 35And JesusG2424 rebukedG2008 him, sayingG3004, Hold thy peace, and comeG1831 out from him. And the demonG1140, having thrown him down into the midstG3319, cameG1831 out from him without doing him any injury. 36And astonishment cameG1096 upon all, and they spokeG3004 to oneG240 another, sayingG3004, What wordG3056 [is] this? for with authorityG1849 and powerG1411 he commandsG2004 the uncleanG169 spiritsG4151, and they comeG1831 out. 37And a rumour wentG1607 out into every placeG5117 of the country round concerningG4012 him. 38And risingG450 up out of the synagogueG4864, he enteredG1525 into the houseG3614 of SimonG4613. But Simon's mother-in-law wasG1510 suffering under a bad feverG4446; and they askedG2065 him for her. 39And standing over her, he rebukedG2008 the feverG4446, and it leftG863 her; and forthwith standing up she servedG1247 them. 40And when the sunG2246 went down, all, as manyG3745 as had persons sickG770 with divers diseasesG3554, broughtG71 them to him, and having laidG2007 his handsG5495 on every oneG1520 of them, he healedG2323 them; 41and demonsG1140 alsoG2532 wentG1831 out from manyG4183, crying out and sayingG3004, Thou art the SonG5207 of 7GodG2316. And rebukingG2008 them, he suffered them not to speakG2980, because they knew him to beG1510 the ChristG5547. 42And when it was dayG2250 he wentG1831 out, and wentG1831 into a desert placeG5117, and the crowdsG3793 soughtG1934 after him, and cameG2064 up to him, and [would have] kept him back that he should not goG4198 from them. 43But he saidG3004 to them, I must needs announce the glad tidings of the kingdomG932 of 8GodG2316 to the otherG2087 citiesG4172 alsoG2532, for for this I have been sentG649 forthG649. 44And he wasG1510 preachingG2784 in the synagoguesG4864 of GalileeG1056.
