Zechariah Chapter 1

Darby Bible

1In the eighthH8066 monthH2320, in the second yearH8141 of DariusH1867, came the wordH1697 of Jehovah unto ZechariahH2148 the prophetH5030, the sonH1121 of Berechiah, the sonH1121 of IddoH5714, sayingH559, 2Jehovah hath been very wroth with your fathersH1. 3And thou shalt sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: ReturnH7725 unto me, saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, and I will returnH7725 unto you, saith Jehovah of hostsH6635. 4BeH1961 ye not as your fathersH1, unto whom the formerH7223 prophetsH5030 cried, sayingH559, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: TurnH7725 ye now from your evilH7451 waysH1870, and from your evilH7451 doings; but they did not hearken nor attend unto me, saith Jehovah. 5Your fathersH1, whereH346 are they? and the prophetsH5030, do they liveH2421 for everH5769? 6But my wordsH1697 and my statutesH2706, which I commandedH6680 my servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, did they not overtakeH5381 your fathersH1? And they turnedH7725 and saidH559, Like as Jehovah of hostsH6635 thought to do unto us, according to our waysH1870 and according to our doings, soH3651 hath he dealt with us. 7Upon the fourH702 and twentieth dayH3117 of the eleventh monthH2320, which is the monthH2320 Shebat, in the second yearH8141 of DariusH1867, came the wordH1697 of Jehovah unto ZechariahH2148 the prophetH5030, the sonH1121 of Berechiah, the sonH1121 of IddoH5714, sayingH559, 8I sawH7200 by nightH3915, and behold, a manH376 ridingH7392 upon a redH122 horseH5483, and he stoodH5975 among the myrtle-trees that were in the low valley; and behind him were redH122, bay, and whiteH3836 horsesH5483. 9And I saidH559, My lordH113, what are these? And the angelH4397 that talked with me saidH559 unto me, I will shew thee what these are. 10And the manH376 that stoodH5975 among the myrtle-trees answered and saidH559, These are they whom Jehovah hath sentH7971 to walkH1980 to and fro through the earthH776. 11And they answered the angelH4397 of Jehovah that stoodH5975 among the myrtle-trees, and saidH559, We have walkedH1980 to and fro through the earthH776, and behold, all the earthH776 sitteth stillH5975 and is at rest. 12And the angelH4397 of Jehovah answered and saidH559, Jehovah of hostsH6635, how long wilt thou not have mercyH7355 on JerusalemH3389 and on the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, against which thou hast had indignation these seventyH7657 yearsH8141? 13And Jehovah answeredH6030 the angelH4397 that talked with me goodH2896 wordsH1697, comfortingH5150 wordsH1697. 14And the angelH4397 that talked with me saidH559 unto me, Cry, sayingH559, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: I am jealousH7065 for JerusalemH3389 and for ZionH6726 with a greatH1419 jealousyH7068, 15and I am wroth exceedingly with the nationsH1471 that are at easeH7600; for I was but a littleH4592 wroth, and they helpedH5826 forward the affliction. 16ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah: I am returnedH7725 to JerusalemH3389 with mercies: my houseH1004 shall be builtH1129 in it, saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, and the line shall be stretchedH5186 forth upon JerusalemH3389. 17Cry further, sayingH559, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: My citiesH5892 shall yetH5750 overflowH6327 with prosperity, and Jehovah shall yetH5750 comfortH5162 ZionH6726, and shall yetH5750 chooseH977 JerusalemH3389. 18And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. 19And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these? And he said to me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem. 20And Jehovah shewed me four craftsmen. 21And I said, What come these to do? And he spoke, saying, Those are the horns which scattered Judah, so that no man lifted up his head; but these are come to affright them, to cast out the horns of the nations, which lifted up the horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.
