21But beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,the handχεὶρcheirG5495of the one betrayingπαραδιδόντοςparadidontosG3860Me is withMineἐμοῦemouG1473on the tableτραπέζης.trapezēsG5132.

22For indeedμὲνmenG3303,the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444is goingπορεύεται·poreuetaiG4198as it hasG2192been determinedὡρισμένονhōrismenonG3724;but woeοὐαὶouaiG3759to that manἀνθρώπῳanthrōpōG444by whomοὗhouG3739He is betrayedπαραδίδοται.paradidotaiG3860!”

23And they beganἤρξαντοērxantoG757to debateσυζητεῖνsuzēteinG4802amongπρὸςprosG4314themselvesἑαυτοὺςhe'autousG1438whichτίςtisG5101one of them it was who wasG3195goingG3195toG3195doπράσσειν.¶prasseinG4238thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778.

24Anda disputeφιλονεικίαphiloneikiaG5379alsoκαὶkaiG2532developedἘγένετοEgenetoG1096amongἐνenG1722them as towhichτίςtisG5101one of them was regardedδοκεῖdokeiG1380as beingG1510the greatestμείζων.meizōnG3173.

25And He saidG3004to them,“The kingsβασιλεῖςbasileisG935of the GentilesἐθνῶνethnōnG1484domineerG2961overG2961them; and thoseG3588who haveG1850authorityἐξουσιάζοντεςexousiazontesG1850overG1850them are calledκαλοῦνται.kalountaiG2564‘BenefactorsεὐεργέταιeuergetaiG2110.’

26But it isnot thisG3779wayG3779for you;ratherἀλλ᾽all᾽G235,the oneG3739who is the greatestμείζωνmeizōnG3173amongἐνenG1722you must becomeγινέσθωginesthōG1096likeὡςhōsG5613the youngestνεώτερος,neōterosG3501,and the leaderἡγούμενοςhēgoumenosG2233likeὡςhōsG5613the servantδιακονῶν.diakonōnG1247.

27ForwhoτίςtisG5101is greaterμείζων,meizōnG3173,the one who reclinesἀνακείμενοςanakeimenosG345at the tableorἢēG2228the one who servesδιακονῶν;diakonōnG1247?Is it not the one who reclinesἀνακείμενος;anakeimenosG345at the table? ButI amεἰμιeimiG1510amongἐν μέσῳen mesōG1722 G3319you as the one who servesδιακονῶν.diakonōnG1247.

28“You are the ones who have stoodδιαμεμενηκότεςdiamemenēkotesG1265by Me in MytrialsπειρασμοῖςpeirasmoisG3986;

29and justG2531asG2531My FatherπατήρpatērG3962hasG2192grantedδιατίθεμαιdiatithemaiG1303Me akingdomβασιλείαν,basileianG932,I grantδιέθετόdiethetoG1303you

30that you mayeatἔσθητεesthēteG2068and drinkπίνητεpinēteG4095at My tableτραπέζηςtrapezēsG5132in MykingdomβασιλείᾳbasileiaG932, andyou will sitκαθήσεσθεkathēsestheG2521on thronesθρόνωνthronōnG2362judgingκρίνοντεςkrinontesG2919the twelveδώδεκαdōdekaG1427tribesφυλὰςphulasG5443of IsraelἸσραήλ.¶IsraēlG2474.

31“SimonΣίμωνSimōnG4613,SimonΣίμων,SimōnG4613,beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,SatanσατανᾶςsatanasG4567hasG2192demandedἐξῃτήσατοexētēsatoG1809tosiftσινιάσαιsiniasaiG4617you menlikeὡςhōsG5613wheatσῖτον.sitonG4621;

32but Ihave prayedἐδεήθηνedeēthēnG1189for you, thatyour faithπίστιςpistisG4102will not failἐκλίπῃeklipēG1587; andyou, whenποτεpoteG4218you haveturnedG1994backἐπιστρέψαςepistrepsasG1994,strengthenστήρισονstērisonG4741your brothersἀδελφούςadelphousG80.”

33But he saidG3004to Him, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,I amεἰμιeimiG1510readyἕτοιμόςhetoimosG2092to goπορεύεσθαι.poreuesthaiG4198with You bothG2532to prisonφυλακὴνphulakēnG5438and to deathθάνατονthanatonG2288!”

34But He saidG3004,“I tellλέγωlegōG3004you, PeterΠέτρε,PetreG4074,the roosterἀλέκτωρalektōrG220will not crowφωνήσειphōnēseiG5455todayσήμερονsēmeronG4594untilἕωςhe'ōsG2193you have deniedἀπαρνήσῃaparnēsēG533threeτρίςtrisG5151timesG5151that you knowG3609Me.”

35And He saidG3004to them, “WhenὅτεhoteG3753I sentG649you outG649withoutἄτερaterG817moneyG905beltG905and bagπήραςpērasG4082and sandalsὑποδημάτων,hupodēmatōnG5266,you did not lackὑστερήσατε;husterēsateG5302anythingτινοςtinosG5100, did you?”They saidG3004, “No,nothingοὐθενός.outhenosG3762.”

36And He saidG3004to them,“But nowνῦνnunG3568,whoeverG3588hasἔχωνechōnG2192a moneyG905beltG905is to takeἀράτω,aratōG142it along, likewiseὁμοίωςhomoiōsG3668alsoG2532a bagπήραν·pēranG4082, andwhoeverG3588hasἔχωνechōnG2192noμὴmēG3361swordμάχαιραν.machairanG3162is to sellπωλησάτωpōlēsatōG4453hiscloakἱμάτιονhimationG2440and buyἀγορασάτωagorasatōG59one.

37For I tellλέγωlegōG3004you that thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778which is writtenγεγραμμένονgegrammenonG1125mustδεῖdeiG1163be fulfilledτελεσθῆναιtelesthēnaiG5055in Me: ‘And He was countedἐλογίσθη.elogisthēG3049with wrongdoersἀνόμωνanomōnG459’; forthat which refersπερὶperiG4012to Me hasἔχει.echeiG2192itsfulfillmentτέλοςtelosG5056.”

38They saidG3004, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,lookἰδοὺidouG2400,hereὧδεhōdeG5602are twoδύο.duoG1417swordsμάχαιραιmachairaiG3162.”And He saidG3004to them,“It is enoughἱκανόνhikanonG2425.”

39And He cameG1831outG1831and wentἐπορεύθηeporeuthēG4198,as was His habitἔθοςethosG1485, tothe MountὄροςorosG3735of OlivesG1636;and the disciplesμαθηταίmathētaiG3101alsoG2532followedἠκολούθησανēkolouthēsanG190Him.

40NowδὲdeG1161when He arrivedγενόμενοςgenomenosG1096at the placeτόπουtopouG5117,He saidG3004to them, “PrayπροσεύχεσθεproseuchestheG4336that you do not comeG1525intoG1525temptationπειρασμόν.peirasmonG3986.”

41And He withdrewἀπεσπάσθηapespasthēG645from them aboutὡσεὶhōseiG5616a stone’sλίθουlithouG3037throwβολήν,bolēnG1000, and HekneltG1119 G5087downG5087 G1119and beganto prayπροσηύχετοprosēuchetoG4336,

42sayingλέγων·legōnG3004,“Fatherπάτερ,paterG3962,ifεἰeiG1487You are willingβούλειbouleiG1014,removeπαρένεγκεparenegkeG3911thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778cupποτήριονpotērionG4221from Me;yetπλὴνplēnG4133not My willθέλημάthelēmaG2307,but YoursG4674be doneγινέσθω.ginesthōG1096.”

43[NowδὲdeG1161anangelἄγγελοςangelosG32from heavenοὐρανοῦouranouG3772appearedG3708to Him, strengtheningἐνισχύωνenischuōnG1765Him.

44AndbeingγενόμενοςgenomenosG1096in agonyἀγωνίᾳagōniaG74,He was prayingπροσηύχετο.prosēuchetoG4336very ferventlyG1618;and His sweatἱδρὼςhidrōsG2402becameἐγένετοegenetoG1096likeὡσεὶhōseiG5616dropsθρόμβοιthromboiG2361of bloodαἵματοςaimatosG129,fallingG2597downκαταβαίνοντεςkatabainontesG2597upon the groundγῆν.]]gēnG1093].

45When He roseἀναστὰςanastasG450from prayerπροσευχῆς,proseuchēsG4335,He cameἐλθὼνelthōnG2064to the disciplesμαθητὰςmathētasG3101and foundεὗρενheurenG2147them sleepingκοιμωμένουςkoimōmenousG2837from sorrowλύπηςlupēsG3077,

46and He saidG3004to them,“WhyτίtiG5101areG2518you sleepingκαθεύδετε;katheudeteG2518?GetG450upG450andprayπροσεύχεσθεproseuchestheG4336that you do not comeG1525intoG1525temptationπειρασμόν.¶peirasmonG3986.”

47While He was stillἜτιEtiG2089speakingλαλοῦντοςlalountosG2980,beholdἰδοὺidouG2400,a crowdὄχλος,ochlosG3793came,and the one calledλεγόμενοςlegomenosG3004JudasἸούδαςIoudasG2455,oneεἷςheisG1520of the twelveδώδεκαdōdekaG1427,was leadingG4281theG4281wayG4281for them; and he approachedἤγγισενēngisenG1448JesusἸησοῦIēsouG2424to kissφιλῆσαιphilēsaiG5368Him.

48But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidG3004to him,“JudasἸούδα,IoudaG2455,are you betrayingπαραδίδως;paradidōsG3860the SonυἱὸνhuionG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444with a kissφιλήματιphilēmatiG5370?”

49When thoseοἱhoiG3588whoτὸtoG3588were aroundπερὶperiG4012Him sawG3708what was going to happenἐσόμενονesomenonG1510,they saidG3004, “Lordκύριε,kurieG2962,shall we strikeπατάξομενpataxomenG3960with theswordμαχαίρῃ;machairēG3162?”

50And oneεἷςheisG1520of them struckἐπάταξενepataxenG3960the slaveδοῦλονdoulonG1401of the highἀρχιερέωςarchiereōsG749priestG749and cutἀφεῖλενapheilenG851offG851his rightδεξιόν.dexionG1188earοὖςousG3775.

51But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424respondedἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611and saidG3004, “StopἐᾶτεeateG1439!NoG2193moreG2193of thisτούτου.toutouG3778.”And He touchedἁψάμενοςhapsamenosG681his earὠτίουōtiouG5621and healedἰάσατοiasatoG2390him.

52And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidG3004to the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749andofficersστρατηγοὺςstratēgousG4755of the templeG2413and eldersπρεσβυτέρους·presbuterousG4245who had comeπαραγενομένουςparagenomenousG3854againstἐπ᾽ep᾽G1909Him,“Have you comeἐξήλθατεexēlthateG1831outG1831with swordsμαχαιρῶνmachairōnG3162and clubsξύλων;xulōnG3586as you wouldagainstἐπὶepiG1909a manG3027incitingG3027aG3027revoltG3027?

53While I was with you dailyκαθ᾽ ἡμέρανkath᾽ hēmeranG2596 G2250in the templeG2413,you did not layἐξετείνατεexeteinateG1614handsχεῖραςcheirasG5495on Me; butthisαὕτηhautēG3778hourὥραhōraG5610and the powerἐξουσίαexousiaG1849of darknessσκότους.¶skotousG4655are yoursG4771.”

54NowG1161they arrestedΣυλλαβόντεςSullabontesG4815Him and ledἤγαγονēgagonG71Him away,and broughtεἰσήγαγονeisēgagonG1521Himto the houseοἰκίανoikianG3614of the highἀρχιερέως.archiereōsG749priestG749; butPeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074was followingἠκολούθειēkoloutheiG190atG3113aG3113distanceG3113.

55After they kindledG4015a fireπῦρpurG4442in the middleμέσῳmesōG3319ofthe courtyardαὐλῆςaulēsG833and satG4776downG4776togetherσυγκαθισάντωνsugkathisantōnG4776,PeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074was sittingἐκάθητοekathētoG2521amongμέσοςmesosG3319them.

56And a slaveG3814womanG3814,seeingG3708him as he satκαθήμενονkathēmenonG2521in the firelightφῶςphōsG5457,and staringἀτενίσασαatenisasaG816at him, saidG3004, “ThisG3778manG3778was with Him asκαὶkaiG2532wellκαὶkaiG2532.”

57But he deniedἠρνήσατοērnēsatoG720it,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “I do not knowG3609Him, womanγύναι.¶gunaiG1135!”

58And a littleβραχὺbrachuG1024laterμετὰmetaG3326,anotherG2087personG2087sawG3708him and saidἔφη·ephēG5346, “You are oneof them tooG2532!”But PeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074saidἔφη·ephēG5346, “Manἄνθρωπε,anthrōpeG444,I amG1510not!”

59And after aboutὡσεὶhōseiG5616an hourὥραςhōrasG5610had passedδιαστάσηςdiastasēsG1339,someτιςtisG5100otherἄλλοςallosG243manG243beganto insistδιϊσχυρίζετοdiischurizetoG1340,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “Certainlyἐπ᾽ ἀληθείαςep᾽ alētheiasG1909 G225thisG3778manG3778alsoG2532was with Him,for he, tooG2532,is a GalileanΓαλιλαῖόςGalilaiosG1057.”

60But PeterΠέτρος·PetrosG4074saidλέγεις.legeisG3004, “Manἄνθρωπε,anthrōpeG444,I do not knowG3609whatὃhoG3739you are talkingG3004about!” And immediatelyπαραχρῆμαparachrēmaG3916,while he was stillἔτιetiG2089speakingλαλοῦντοςlalountosG2980,a roosterἀλέκτωρ.alektōrG220crowedἐφώνησενephōnēsenG5455.

61And thenthe LordκύριοςkuriosG2962turnedστραφεὶςstrapheisG4762and lookedἐνέβλεψενeneblepsenG1689atG1689PeterΠέτρῳ,PetrōG4074.And PeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074rememberedὑπεμνήσθηhupemnēsthēG5279the wordG3056of the LordκυρίουkuriouG2962,howὡςhōsG5613He had toldG3004him, “BeforeπρὶνprinG4250a roosterἀλέκτοραalektoraG220crowsφωνῆσαιphōnēsaiG5455todayσήμερονsēmeronG4594,you will denyἀπαρνήσῃaparnēsēG533Me threeG5151timesG5151.”

62And he wentG1831outG1831and weptἔκλαυσενeklausenG2799bitterlyπικρῶς.¶pikrōsG4090.

63The menἄνδρεςandresG435who were holdingG4912Jesus inG4912custodyG4912beganmockingἐνέπαιζονenepaizonG1702Him and beatingδέροντες.derontesG1194Him,

64and they blindfoldedπερικαλύψαντεςperikalupsantesG4028Him and repeatedlyaskedἐπηρώτωνepērōtōnG1905Him, sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “Prophesyπροφήτευσον,prophēteusonG4395,whoτίςtisG5101is the one who hitπαίσαςpaisasG3817You?”

65And they were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004manyπολλὰpollaG4183otherἕτεραheteraG2087thingsG4183againstεἰςeisG1519Him,blasphemingβλασφημοῦντεςblasphēmountesG987.

66WhenὡςhōsG5613it was dayἡμέρα,hēmeraG2250, theCouncilG4244ofG4244eldersG4244of the peopleλαοῦ,laouG2992assembledσυνήχθηsunēchthēG4863,bothτεteG5037chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and scribesγραμματεῖς,grammateisG1122,and they ledG520Him awayἀπήγαγονapēgagonG520to theircouncilσυνέδριονsunedrionG4892chamberG4892,sayingG3004,

67“IfεἰeiG1487You are theChristχριστός,christosG5547,tellG3004us.” But He saidλέγοντες·legontesG3004to them,“IfἐὰνeanG1437I tellG3004you, you will not believeπιστεύσητε.pisteusēteG4100;

68and ifἐὰνeanG1437I askἐρωτήσω,erōtēsōG2065aG2065questionG2065,you will not answerἀποκριθῆτεapokrithēteG611.

69But from nowνῦνnunG3568onthe SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444will be seatedκαθήμενοςkathēmenosG2521at the rightδεξιῶνdexiōnG1188handG1188of the powerδυνάμεωςdunameōsG1411of Godθεοῦ.¶theouG2316.”

70And they allπάντες·pantesG3956saidλέγετεlegeteG3004, “SoοὖνounG3767You arethe SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of Godθεοῦ;theouG2316?”And He saidἔφη·ephēG5346to them, “You say correctlythat I amG1510.”

71And thenthey saidG3004, “WhatτίtiG5101furtherἔτιetiG2089needχρείαν;chreianG5532do we haveἔχομενechomenG2192of testimonyμαρτυρίαςmarturiasG3141?For we have heardἠκούσαμενēkousamenG191itourselvesG846from His ownmouthστόματοςstomatosG4750!”
