Mark 14
Darby Bible
1NowG1161 the passoverG3957 and the [feast of] unleavenedG106 bread wasG1510 after twoG1417 daysG2250. And the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the scribesG1122 wereG1510 seekingG2212 howG4459 they might seizeG2902 him by subtlety and killG615 him. 2For they saidG3004, Not in the feastG1859, lestG3361 perhaps there beG1510 a tumult of the peopleG2992. 3And when he wasG1510 in BethanyG963, in the houseG3614 of SimonG4613 the leperG3015, as he lay at table, there cameG2064 a womanG1135 having an alabasterG211 flask of ointment of pureG4101 nardG3487, very costly; and having broken the alabasterG211 flask, she pouredG2708 it out upon his headG2776. 4And there wereG1510 some indignantG23 in themselves, and saying, WhyG5101 has this wasteG684 beenG1510 made of the ointment? 5for this ointment could have been sold for more than threeG5145 hundredG5145 denariiG1220 and givenG1325 to the poorG4434. And they spoke very angrily at her. 6But JesusG2424 saidG3004, Let her aloneG863; whyG5101 do ye trouble her? she has wrought a goodG2570 workG2041 as to me; 7for ye have the poorG4434 alwaysG3842 with you, and wheneverG3752 ye would ye can do them good; but me ye have not alwaysG3842. 8What she could she has done. She has beforehand anointed my bodyG4983 for the burialG1780. 9And verily I sayG3004 unto you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preachedG2784 in the wholeG3650 worldG2889, what this [woman] has done shall be alsoG2532 spokenG2980 of for a memorialG3422 of her. 10And JudasG2455 Iscariote, oneG1520 of the twelveG1427, wentG565 awayG565 to the chiefG749 priestsG749 that he might deliverG3860 him up to them; 11and they, when they heardG191 it, rejoicedG5463, and promisedG1861 him to giveG1325 moneyG694. And he soughtG2212 howG4459 he could opportunely deliverG3860 him up. 12And the firstG4413 dayG2250 of unleavenedG106 bread, whenG3753 they slew the passoverG3957, his disciplesG3101 sayG3004 to him, WhereG4226 wilt thou that we goG565 and prepareG2090, that thou mayest eatG2068 the passoverG3957? 13And he sendsG649 twoG1417 of his disciplesG3101, and saysG3004 to them, GoG5217 into the cityG4172, and a manG444 shall meet you carryingG941 a pitcherG2765 of waterG5204; followG190 him. 14And wheresoever he entersG1525, sayG3004 to the master of the houseG3617, The TeacherG1320 saysG3004, WhereG3699 isG1510 my guest-chamber whereG3699 I may eatG2068 the passoverG3957 with my disciplesG3101? 15and he will shew you a largeG3173 upper room furnishedG4766 readyG2092. There makeG2090 readyG2092 for us. 16And his disciplesG3101 wentG1831 awayG1831 and cameG2064 into the cityG4172, and foundG2147 as he had saidG3004 to them; and they madeG2090 readyG2090 the passoverG3957. 17And when eveningG3798 was comeG2064, he comesG2064 with the twelveG1427. 18And as they lay at table and were eatingG2068, JesusG2424 saidG3004, Verily I sayG3004 to you, OneG1520 of you shall deliverG3860 me up; he who is eatingG2068 with me. 19And they beganG757 to be grievedG3076, and to sayG3004 to him, oneG1520 by oneG1520, Is it I? [and another, Is it I?] 20But he answered and saidG3004 to them, OneG1520 of the twelveG1427, he who dips with me in the dish. 21The SonG5207 of manG444 goesG5217 indeedG3303 as it is writtenG1125 concerningG4012 him, but woeG3759 to that manG444 by whom the SonG5207 of manG444 is deliveredG3860 up; [it were] goodG2570 for that manG444 if he had not been bornG1080. 22And as they wereG1510 eatingG2068, Jesus, having takenG2983 breadG740, when he had blessedG2127, brokeG2806 [it], and gaveG1325 [it] to them, and saidG3004, TakeG2983 [this]: this isG1510 my bodyG4983. 23And having takenG2983 [the] cupG4221, when he had givenG1325 thanksG2168, he gaveG1325 [it] to them, and they all drankG4095 out of it. 24And he saidG3004 to them, This isG1510 my bloodG129, that of the [new] covenantG1242, that shed for manyG4183. 25Verily I sayG3004 to you, I will no more drinkG4095 at all of the fruit of the vineG288, until that dayG2250 whenG3752 I drinkG4095 it newG2537 in the kingdomG932 of 1GodG2316. 26And having sung a hymnG5214, they wentG1831 out to the mountG3735 of Olives. 27And JesusG2424 saysG3004 to them, All ye shall be offendedG4624, for it is writtenG1125, I will smite the shepherdG4166, and the sheepG4263 shall be scatteredG1287 abroad. 28But after I am risenG1453, I will goG4254 before you into GalileeG1056. 29But PeterG4074 saidG5346 to him, EvenG2532 if all should be offendedG4624, yet not I. 30And JesusG2424 saysG3004 to him, Verily I sayG3004 to thee, that thou to-day, in this nightG3571, before [the] cock shall crowG5455 twiceG1364, thou shalt thrice denyG533 me. 31But he saidG3004 [so much] exceedingly the more, If I should have to dieG4880 with thee, I will in no wise denyG533 thee. And likewiseG5615 saidG3004 they all too. 32And they comeG2064 to a placeG5564 of which the nameG3686 [is] GethsemaneG1068, and he saysG3004 to his disciplesG3101, SitG2523 hereG5602 while I shall prayG4336. 33And he takesG3880 with him PeterG4074 and JamesG2385 and JohnG2491, and he beganG757 to be amazed and oppressed in spirit. 34And he saysG3004 to them, My soulG5590 isG1510 full of grief evenG2532 unto deathG2288; abideG3306 hereG5602 and watchG1127. 35And, goingG4281 forward a littleG3398, he fellG4098 upon the earthG1093; and he prayedG4336 that, if it wereG1510 possibleG1415, the hourG5610 might passG3928 awayG3928 from him. 36And he saidG3004, AbbaG5, FatherG3962, all thingsG3778 are possibleG1415 to thee: takeG3911 awayG575 this cupG4221 from me; but not what I will, but what thou [wilt]. 37And he comesG2064 and findsG2147 them sleepingG2518. And he saysG3004 to PeterG4074, SimonG4613, dost thou sleepG2518? Hast thou not been ableG2480 to watchG1127 oneG1520 hourG5610? 38WatchG1127 and prayG4336, that ye enter not into temptationG3986. The spiritG4151 indeed [is] willingG4289, but the fleshG4561 weakG772. 39And goingG565 awayG565, he prayedG4336 againG3825, sayingG3004 the sameG846 thing. 40And returningG5290, he foundG2147 them againG3825 sleepingG2518, for their eyesG3788 wereG1510 heavy; and they knew not what they should answerG611 him. 41And he comesG2064 the thirdG5154 timeG5610 and saysG3004 to them, SleepG2518 on now, and take your restG373. It is enough; the hourG5610 is comeG2064; beholdG2400, the SonG5207 of manG444 is deliveredG3860 up into the handsG5495 of sinnersG268. 42AriseG1453, let us goG71; beholdG2400, he that delivers me up has drawn nigh. 43And immediately, while he was yet speakingG2980, JudasG2455 comes up, [being] oneG1520 of the twelveG1427, and with him a great crowdG3793, with swordsG3162 and sticks, from the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the scribesG1122 and the eldersG4245. 44NowG1161 he that deliveredG3860 him up had givenG1325 them a sign between them, sayingG3004, Whomsoever I shall kissG5368, that isG1510 he; seizeG2902 him, and leadG520 [him] awayG520 safely. 45And being comeG2064, straightway comingG2064 up to him, he saysG3004, RabbiG4461, RabbiG4461; and he covered him with kisses. 46And they laidG1911 their handsG5495 upon him and seizedG2902 him. 47But a certainG5100 oneG1520 of those who stoodG3936 by, having drawn his swordG3162, struck the bondman of the highG749 priestG749, and took off his earG5621. 48And JesusG2424 answeringG611 saidG3004 to them, Are ye comeG1831 out as against a robberG3027, with swordsG3162 and sticks to take me? 49I wasG1510 daily with you teachingG1321 in the templeG2411, and ye did not seizeG2902 me; but [it isG1510] that the scripturesG1124 may beG1510 fulfilled. 50And all leftG863 him and fledG5343. 51And a certainG5100 youngG3495 man followed him with a linenG4616 clothG4616 cast about his nakedG1131 [body]; and [the youngG3495 men] seizeG2902 him; 52but he, leavingG2641 the linenG4616 clothG4616 behind [him], fledG5343 from them nakedG1131. 53And they ledG520 awayG520 JesusG2424 to the highG749 priestG749. And there comeG4905 togetherG4905 to him all the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the eldersG4245 and the scribesG1122. 54And PeterG4074 followedG190 him at a distance, till [he wasG1510] within the courtG833 of the highG749 priest's palace; and he wasG1510 sitting with the officersG5257 and warmingG2328 himself in the lightG5457 [of the fire]. 55And the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the wholeG3650 sanhedrim soughtG2212 testimonyG3141 against JesusG2424 to cause him to be putG2289 to deathG2289, and did not findG2147 [any]. 56For manyG4183 bore falseG5576 witnessG5576 against him, and their testimonyG3141 did not agree. 57And certainG5100 persons roseG450 up and bore falseG5576 witnessG5576 against him, sayingG3004, 58We heardG191 him sayingG3004, I will destroyG2647 this templeG3485 which is made with handsG5499, and in the course of threeG5140 daysG2250 I will buildG3618 another not made with handsG5499. 59And neither thusG3779 did their testimonyG3141 agree. 60And the highG749 priestG749, risingG450 up before them all, askedG1905 JesusG2424, sayingG3004, Answerest thou nothing? What do these testify against thee? 61But he wasG1510 silentG4623, and answeredG611 nothing. AgainG3825 the highG749 priestG749 askedG1905 him, and saysG3004 to him, Thou art the ChristG5547, the SonG5207 of the Blessed? 62And JesusG2424 saidG3004, I amG1510, and ye shall seeG3708 the SonG5207 of manG444 sittingG2521 at the rightG1188 handG1188 of powerG1411, and comingG2064 with the cloudsG3507 of heavenG3772. 63And the highG749 priestG749, having rent his clothes, saysG3004, What needG5532 have we any moreG2089 of witnessesG3144? 64Ye have heardG191 the blasphemyG988; what think ye? And they all condemnedG2632 him to beG1510 guiltyG1777 of deathG2288. 65And some beganG757 to spitG1716 upon him, and cover up his faceG4383, and buffet him, and sayG3004 to him, ProphesyG4395; and the officersG5257 struck him with the palms of their hands. 66And PeterG4074 beingG1510 below in the palace-court, there comesG2064 oneG1520 of the maids of the highG749 priestG749, 67and seeingG3708 PeterG4074 warmingG2328 himself, having looked at him, saysG3004, And thou wast with the NazareneG3479, JesusG2424. 68But he deniedG720, sayingG3004, I know not nor understand what thou sayest. And he wentG1831 out into the vestibule; and a cock crew. 69And the maid, seeingG3708 him, againG3825 beganG757 to sayG3004 to those that stoodG3936 by, This isG1510 [oneG3778] of them. 70And he againG3825 deniedG720. And againG3825, after a littleG3398, those that stoodG3936 by saidG3004 to PeterG4074, TrulyG230 thou art [oneG3588] of them, for alsoG2532 thou art a GalileanG1057. 71But he beganG757 to curse and to swearG3660, I know not this manG444 of whom ye speakG3004. 72And the secondG1208 timeG1208 a cock crew. And PeterG4074 rememberedG363 the word that JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, Before [the] cock crowG5455 twiceG1364, thou shalt denyG533 me thrice; and whenG5613 he thought thereon he weptG2799.
