Acts 13:2-52

2While they were 1servingG3008 the LordG2962 and fastingG3522, 2the HolyG40 SpiritG4151 saidG3004, “SetG873 3BarnabasG921 and SaulG4569 apartG873 for Me for 4the workG2041 to whichG3739 I have calledG4341 them.” 3ThenG5119, when they had fastedG3522, 5prayedG4336, and 6laidG2007 their handsG5495 onG2007 them, 7they sentG630 them awayG630.

4SoG3767, being 8sentG1599 outG1599 by the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, they wentG2718 downG2718 to SeleuciaG4581 and fromG1564 thereG1564 they sailedG636 to 9CyprusG2954. 5When they reachedG1096 SalamisG4529, they began to proclaimG2605 the wordG3056 of GodG2316 in 10the synagoguesG4864 of the JewsG2453; and they alsoG2532 hadG2192 11JohnG2491 as their helperG5257. 6When they had goneG1330 throughG1330 the wholeG3650 islandG3520 as farG891 as PaphosG3974, they foundG2147 a 12magicianG3097, a JewishG2453 13falseG5578 prophetG5578 whoseG3739 nameG3686 was Bar-JesusG919, 7whoG3739 was with the 14proconsulG446, SergiusG4588 PaulusG3972, a manG435 of intelligenceG4908. ThisG3778 manG3778 summonedG4341 BarnabasG921 and SaulG4569 and soughtG1934 to hearG191 the wordG3056 of GodG2316. 8But ElymasG1681 the 15magicianG3097 (for soG3779 his nameG3686 is translatedG3177) was opposingG436 them, seekingG2212 to turnG1294 the 16proconsulG446 awayG1294 from 17the faithG4102. 9But SaulG4569, whoG3588 was alsoG2532 known as PaulG3972, 1819filledG4092 with the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, staredG816 at him, 10and saidG3004, “20You who are fullG4134 of allG3956 deceitG1388 and fraudG4468, you 21sonG5207 of the devilG1228, you enemyG2190 of allG3956 righteousnessG1343, will you not stopG3973 makingG1294 crookedG1294 22the straightG2117 waysG3598 of the LordG2962? 11NowG3568, beholdG2400, 23the handG5495 of the LordG2962 is upon you, and you will be blindG5185 and not seeG991 the sunG2246 for a timeG2540.” And immediatelyG3916 a mistG887 and a darknessG4655 fellG4098 upon him, and he wentG4013 aboutG4013 seekingG2212 those whoG5497 would leadG5497 him byG5497 theG5497 handG5497. 12ThenG5119 the 24proconsulG446 believedG4100 when he sawG3708 what had happenedG1096, being amazedG1605 at 25the teachingG1322 of the LordG2962.

13NowG1161 PaulG3972 and his companionsG3588G4012 putG321 outG321 toG321 seaG321 from 26PaphosG3974 and cameG2064 to 27PergaG4011 in 28PamphyliaG3828; but 29JohnG2491 leftG672 them and returnedG5290 to JerusalemG2414. 14But goingG1330 onG1330 from PergaG4011, they arrivedG3854 at 30PisidianG4099 31AntiochG490, and on 32the SabbathG4521 dayG2250 they wentG2064 into 33the synagogueG4864 and satG2523 downG2523. 15AfterG3326 34the readingG320 of the LawG3551 and 35the ProphetsG4396, 36the synagogueG752 officialsG752 sentG649 word to them, sayingG3004, “37BrothersG435G80, ifG1487 you have anyG5100 wordG3056 of exhortationG3874 for the peopleG2992, sayG3004 it.” 16PaulG3972 stoodG450 upG450, and 38motioningG2678 with his handG5495 saidG3004,

“MenG435 of IsraelG2475, and 39you who fearG5399 GodG2316, listenG191: 17The GodG2316 of thisG3778 peopleG2992 IsraelG2474 40choseG1586 our fathersG3962 and 4142madeG5312 the peopleG2992 greatG5312 duringG1722 their stayG3940 in the landG1093 of EgyptG125, and with an upliftedG5308 armG1023 43He ledG1806 them outG1806 from it. 18For 44a periodG5550 of aboutG5613 fortyG5066 yearsG5066 45He putG5159 upG5159 with them in the wildernessG2048. 1946When He had destroyedG2507 47sevenG2033 nationsG1484 in the landG1093 of CanaanG5477, He 48distributedG2624 their landG1093 asG2624 anG2624 inheritanceG2624--all of which took 49aboutG5613 450G5071G4004 yearsG2094. 20AfterG3326 theseG3778 thingsG3778 He 50gaveG1325 them judgesG2923 untilG2193 51SamuelG4545 the prophetG4396. 21ThenG2532 they 52askedG154 for a kingG935, and GodG2316 gaveG1325 them 53SaulG4549 the sonG5207 of KishG2797, a manG435 of the tribeG5443 of BenjaminG958, for fortyG5065 yearsG2094. 22AfterG2596 He had 54removedG3179 him, He raisedG1453 upG1453 DavidG1160 to be their kingG935, concerning whomG3739 He alsoG2532 testifiedG3140 and saidG3004, ‘55I have foundG2147 DavidG1160, the son of JesseG2421, a manG435 afterG2596 My heartG2588, whoG3739 will doG4160 allG3956 My 56willG2307.’ 2357From the descendantsG4690 of thisG3778 manG3778, 58accordingG2596 to promiseG1860, GodG2316 has broughtG71 to IsraelG2474 59a SaviorG4990, JesusG2424, 24after 60JohnG2491 had proclaimedG4296, beforeG4253 61His comingG4383G1529, a 62baptismG908 of repentanceG3341 to allG3956 the peopleG2992 of IsraelG2474. 25And whileG5613 JohnG2491 63was completingG4137 his courseG1408, 64he kept sayingG3004, ‘WhatG5101 do you supposeG5282 that I amG1510? I amG1510 not He. But beholdG2400, One is comingG2064 afterG3326 me, the sandalsG5266 of whoseG3739 feetG4228 I amG1510 not worthyG514 to untieG3089.’

26“65BrothersG435G80, sonsG5207 of Abraham’sG11 familyG1085, and thoseG3588 amongG1722 you who fearG5399 GodG2316, to us the messageG3056 of 66thisG3778 salvationG4991 has been sentG1821. 27For thoseG3588 who liveG2730 in JerusalemG2419, and their 67rulersG758, 68recognizingG50 neither Him norG2532 the 69declarationsG5456 of 70the prophetsG4396 which are 71readG314 everyG3956 SabbathG4521, fulfilledG4137 these by condemningG2919 Him. 28And though they foundG2147 noG3367 groundsG156 for putting Him to deathG2288, they 72askedG154 PilateG4091 that He be executedG337. 29WhenG5613 they had 73carriedG5055 outG5055 everythingG3956 that was writtenG1125 concerningG4012 Him, 74they tookG2507 Him downG2507 from the 7576crossG3586 and 77laidG5087 Him in a tombG3419. 30But GodG2316 78raisedG1453 Him from the deadG3498; 31and for manyG4183 daysG2250 79He appearedG3708 to thoseG3588 who cameG4872 upG4872 withG4872 Him from GalileeG1056 to JerusalemG2419, the veryG3748 onesG3748 whoG3748 are nowG3568 80His witnessesG3144 to the peopleG2992. 32And we 81preachG2097 to you the goodG2097 newsG2097 of 82the promiseG1860 madeG1096 to the fathersG3962, 33that GodG2316 has fulfilledG1603 thisG3778 promise to thoseG3588 of us who are the descendantsG5043 by 83raisingG450 JesusG2424, as it is alsoG2532 writtenG1125 in the secondG1208 PsalmG5568: ‘84You are My SonG5207; todayG4594 I have fatheredG1080 You.’ 34As for the fact that He 85raisedG450 Him from the deadG3498, neverG3371 againG3371 to returnG5290 to decayG1312, He has spokenG3004 inG3779 thisG3779 wayG3779: ‘86I will giveG1325 you the holyG3741 and faithfulG4103 mercies of DavidG1160.’ 35ThereforeG1360, He alsoG2532 saysG3004 in anotherG2087 Psalm: ‘87You will not 88allowG1325 Your 89HolyG3741 OneG3741 to 90undergoG3708 decayG1312.’ 36For 91DavidG1160, after he had 92servedG5256 God’sG2316 93purposeG1012 in his ownG2398 generationG1074, 94fellG2837 asleepG2837, and was 95buriedG4369 amongG4314 his fathersG3962 and 96underwentG3708 decayG1312; 37but He whomG3739 GodG2316 97raisedG1453 did not 98undergoG3708 decayG1312. 38ThereforeG3767 let it be knownG1110 to you, 99brothersG435G80, that 100throughG1223 101Him forgivenessG859 of sinsG266 is proclaimedG2605 to you, 39and 102throughG1722 Him 103everyoneG3956 who believesG4100 is 104freedG1344 from allG3956 thingsG3956, from whichG3739 you couldG1410 not be 105freedG1344 106throughG1722 the LawG3551 of MosesG3475. 40ThereforeG3767, seeG991 that the thingG3004 spokenG3004 of 107in the ProphetsG4396 does not comeG1904 uponG1904 you:41‘108LookG3708, you scoffersG2707, and beG2296 astonishedG2296, and 109perishG853; For I am accomplishingG2038 a workG2041 in your daysG2250, A workG2041 whichG3739 you will neverG3756G3361 believeG4100, thoughG1437 someoneG5100 should describeG1555 it to you.’”

42As 110Paul and Barnabas were goingG1826 outG1826, the people repeatedly beggedG3870 to have theseG3778 111thingsG4487 spokenG2980 to them the nextG3342 112SabbathG4521. 43NowG1161 when the meeting of the synagogueG4864 had brokenG3089 upG3089, manyG4183 of the JewsG2453 and the 113God-fearingG4576 114115proselytesG4339 followedG190 PaulG3972 and BarnabasG921, whoG3748 were speakingG4354 to them and urgingG3982 them to continueG4357 in 116the graceG5485 of GodG2316.

44The nextG2064 117SabbathG4521 nearlyG4975 allG3956 the cityG4172 assembledG4863 to hearG191 the wordG3056 of 118the LordG2316. 45But when 119the JewsG2453 sawG3708 the crowdsG3793, they were filledG4092 with jealousyG2205 and began contradictingG483 the thingsG2980 spokenG2980 by PaulG3972, and were 120blasphemingG987. 46PaulG3972 and BarnabasG921 spokeG3955 outG3955 boldlyG3955 and saidG3004, “It was necessaryG316 that the wordG3056 of GodG2316 be spokenG2980 to you 121firstG4413. SinceG1894 you repudiateG683 it and considerG2919 yourselvesG1438 unworthyG3756G514 of eternalG166 lifeG2222, beholdG2400, 122we are turningG4762 to the GentilesG1484. 47For soG3779 the LordG2962 has commandedG1781 us, ‘123I have appointedG5087 You as a 124lightG5457 125to the GentilesG1484, That You may 126bringG1510G1519 salvationG4991 to the endG2078 of the earthG1093.’”

48When the GentilesG1484 heardG191 this, they began rejoicingG5463 and glorifyingG1392 127the wordG3056 of 128the LordG2962; and allG3745 whoG3745 129had beenG1510 appointedG5021 to eternalG166 lifeG2222 believedG4100. 49And 130the wordG3056 of the LordG2962 was being spreadG1308 throughG1223 the wholeG3650 regionG5561. 50But 131the JewsG2453 incitedG3951 the 132133devoutG4576 womenG1135 134of prominenceG2158 and the leadingG4413 menG4413 of the cityG4172, and instigatedG1892 a persecutionG1375 againstG1909 PaulG3972 and BarnabasG921, and droveG1544 them outG1544 of their 135regionG3725. 51But 136they shookG1621 offG1621 the dustG2868 from their feetG4228 in protest againstG1909 them and wentG2064 to 137IconiumG2430. 52And the disciplesG3101 were continually 138filledG4137 with joyG5479 and with the HolyG40 SpiritG4151.
