Acts 13:2-52
2And as they ministered to the LordG2962, and fastedG3522, the HolyG40 SpiritG4151 saidG3004, SeparateG873 me BarnabasG921 and SaulG4569 for the workG2041 whereunto I have called them. 3Then, when they had fastedG3522 and prayedG4336 and laidG2007 their handsG5495 on them, they sentG630 them awayG630.
4So they, being sent forth by the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, went downG2718 to Seleucia; and from thence they sailedG636 to CyprusG2954. 5And when they were at Salamis, they proclaimedG2605 the wordG3056 of GodG2316 in the synagoguesG4864 of the JewsG2453: and they had alsoG2532 JohnG2491 as their attendant. 6And when they had goneG1330 through the wholeG3650 islandG3520 unto PaphosG3974, they foundG2147 a certainG5100 sorcerer, a falseG5578 prophetG5578, a JewG2453, whose nameG3686 was Bar-Jesus; 7who wasG1510 with the proconsulG446, Sergius Paulus, a manG435 of understanding. The same calledG4341 unto him BarnabasG921 and SaulG4569, and soughtG1934 to hearG191 the wordG3056 of GodG2316. 8But Elymas the sorcerer (for soG3779 is his nameG3686 by interpretation) withstood them, seekingG2212 to turn aside the proconsulG446 from the faithG4102. 9But SaulG4569, who is alsoG2532 called PaulG3972, filledG4130 with the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, fastened his eyes on him, 10and saidG3004, O fullG4134 of all guile and all villany, thou sonG5207 of the devilG1228, thou enemyG2190 of all righteousnessG1343, wilt thou not ceaseG3973 to pervert the right waysG3598 of the LordG2962? 11And nowG1161, beholdG2400, the handG5495 of the LordG2962 isG1510 upon thee, and thou shalt beG1510 blindG5185, not seeingG3708 the sunG2246 for a seasonG2540. And immediatelyG3916 there fellG4098 on him a mist and a darknessG4655; and he went about seekingG2212 some to lead him by the handG5495. 12ThenG5119 the proconsulG446, whenG1096 he sawG3708 what was done, believedG4100, being astonishedG1605 at the teachingG1322 of the LordG2962.
13NowG1161 PaulG3972 and his company setG321 sailG321 from PaphosG3974, and cameG2064 to PergaG4011 in PamphyliaG3828: and JohnG2491 departed from them and returnedG5290 to JerusalemG2414. 14But they, passingG1330 through from PergaG4011, cameG2064 to AntiochG490 of PisidiaG4099; and they went into the synagogueG4864 on the sabbathG4521 dayG2250, and satG2523 downG2523. 15And after the readingG320 of the lawG3551 and the prophetsG4396 the rulers of the synagogueG752 sentG649 unto them, sayingG3004, Brethren, if ye have any wordG3056 of exhortationG3874 for the peopleG2992, sayG3004 on. 16And PaulG3972 stoodG450 up, and beckoning with the handG5495 saidG3004,
MenG435 of Israel, and ye that fearG5399 GodG2316, hearken: 17The GodG2316 of this peopleG2992 IsraelG2474 chose our fathersG3962, and exaltedG5312 the peopleG2992 when they sojourned in the landG1093 of EgyptG125, and with a highG5308 armG1023 led he them forth out of it. 18And for about the timeG5550 of fortyG5063 years as a nursing-father bare he them in the wildernessG2048. 19And when he had destroyed sevenG2033 nationsG1484 in the landG1093 of CanaanG5477, he gave them their landG1093 for an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years: 20and after these thingsG3778 he gaveG1325 them judgesG2923 until SamuelG4545 the prophetG4396. 21And afterward they askedG154 for a kingG935: and GodG2316 gaveG1325 unto them SaulG4549 the sonG5207 of Kish, a manG435 of the tribeG5443 of BenjaminG958, for the space of fortyG5062 yearsG2094. 22And when he had removed him, he raisedG1453 up DavidG1138 to be their kingG935; to whom alsoG2532 he bare witnessG3140 and saidG3004, I have foundG2147 DavidG1138 the son of JesseG2421, a manG435 after my heartG2588, who shall do all my will. 23Of this man’sG3778 seedG4690 hath GodG2316 accordingG2596 to promiseG1860 broughtG71 unto IsraelG2474 a Saviour, JesusG2424; 24when JohnG2491 had first preached before his coming the baptismG908 of repentanceG3341 to all the peopleG2992 of IsraelG2474. 25And as JohnG2491 wasG1510 fulfilling his courseG1408, he saidG3004, What suppose ye that I amG1510? I amG1510 not he. But beholdG2400, there cometh oneG3739 after me the shoes of whose feetG4228 I amG1510 not worthyG514 to unloose. 26Brethren, children of the stock of AbrahamG11, and those among you that fearG5399 GodG2316, to us is the wordG3056 of this salvationG4991 sent forthG1821. 27For they that dwellG2730 in JerusalemG2419, and their rulersG758, because they knew him not, nor the voicesG5456 of the prophetsG4396 which are readG314 every sabbathG4521, fulfilled them by condemning him. 28And though they foundG2147 no causeG156 of deathG2288 in him, yet askedG154 they of PilateG4091 that he should be slain. 29And whenG5613 they had fulfilled all thingsG3956 that were writtenG1125 of him, they took him downG5087 from the treeG3586, and laidG5087 him in a tombG3419. 30But GodG2316 raisedG1453 him from the deadG3498: 31and he wasG1510 seenG3708 for manyG4183 daysG2250 of them that cameG4872 up with him from GalileeG1056 to JerusalemG2419, who areG1510 nowG3568 his witnessesG3144 unto the peopleG2992. 32And we bringG2097 you good tidings of the promiseG1860 made unto the fathersG3962, 33that GodG2316 hath fulfilled the same unto our childrenG5043, in that he raisedG450 up JesusG2424; as alsoG2532 it isG1510 writtenG1125 in the secondG1208 psalmG5568, Thou art my SonG5207, this dayG4594 have I begotten thee. 34And as concerning that he raisedG450 him up from the deadG3498, nowG1161 no moreG3371 to returnG5290 to corruption, he hath spoken on this wise, I will giveG1325 you the holyG3741 and sure blessings of DavidG1138. 35Because he saith alsoG2532 in another psalm, Thou wilt not giveG1325 thy HolyG3741 OneG3588 to seeG3708 corruption. 36For DavidG1138, after he had in his ownG2398 generationG1074 served the counselG1012 of GodG2316, fell asleepG2837, and was laid unto his fathersG3962, and sawG3708 corruption: 37but he whom GodG2316 raisedG1453 up sawG3708 no corruption. 38BeG1510 it known unto you thereforeG3767, brethren, that through this manG435 isG1510 proclaimedG2605 unto you remission of sinsG266: 39and by him every oneG3739 that believeth is justifiedG1344 from all thingsG3778, from which ye could not be justifiedG1344 by the lawG3551 of MosesG3475. 40BewareG991 thereforeG3767, lestG3361 that comeG1904 upon you which is spoken in the prophetsG4396:
42And as they went out, they besought that these words might be spokenG2980 to them the next sabbathG4521. 43NowG1161 when the synagogueG4864 brokeG3089 up, manyG4183 of the JewsG2453 and of the devout proselytes followedG190 PaulG3972 and BarnabasG921; who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the graceG5485 of GodG2316.
44And the next sabbathG4521 almostG4975 the whole cityG4172 was gatheredG4863 togetherG4863 to hearG191 the wordG3056 of God. 45But when the JewsG2453 sawG3708 the multitudesG3793, they were filledG4130 with jealousyG2205, and contradicted the things which were spokenG2980 by PaulG3972, and blasphemedG987. 46And PaulG3972 and BarnabasG921 spake out boldlyG3955, and saidG3004, It wasG1510 necessaryG316 that the wordG3056 of GodG2316 should firstG4413 beG1510 spokenG2980 to you. SeeingG3708 ye thrust it from you, and judgeG2919 yourselves unworthy of eternalG166 lifeG2222, lo, we turnG4762 to the GentilesG1484. 47For soG3779 hath the LordG2962 commandedG1781 us, saying,
48And as the GentilesG1484 heardG191 this, they wereG1510 gladG5463, and glorifiedG1392 the wordG3056 of God: and as manyG3745 as wereG1510 ordained to eternalG166 lifeG2222 believedG4100. 49And the wordG3056 of the LordG2962 was spread abroad throughout all the regionG5561. 50But the JewsG2453 urged on the devout womenG1135 of honorable estate, and the chief men of the cityG4172, and stirred up a persecutionG1375 against PaulG3972 and BarnabasG921, and castG1544 them out of their borders. 51But they shookG1621 off the dustG2868 of their feetG4228 against them, and cameG2064 unto IconiumG2430. 52And the disciplesG3101 were filledG4137 with joyG5479 and with the HolyG40 SpiritG4151.
