Romans 8
Deliverance from Bondage
1Therefore there is now no 1condemnation at all for those who are 2in 3Christ Jesus. 2For 4the law of the Spirit of life 5in 6Christ Jesus 7has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3For 8what the Law could not do, 910weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in 11the likeness of 12sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4so that the 13requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who 14do not walk 15according to the flesh but 16according to the Spirit. 5For those who are in accord with the flesh set their minds on 17the things of the flesh, but those who are in accord with the Spirit, 18the things of the Spirit. 619For the mind 20set on the flesh is 21death, but the mind 22set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7because the mind 23set on the flesh is 24hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8and those who are 25in the flesh cannot please God.
9However, you are not 26in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God 27dwells in you. But 28if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 1029If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is 30alive because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of Him who 31raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, 32He who raised 33Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies 34through His Spirit who dwells in you.
12So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-- 13for 35if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are 36putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14For all who are 37being led by the Spirit of God, these are 38sons and daughters of God. 15For you 39have not received a spirit of slavery 40leading to fear again, but you 41have received 42a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “43Abba! 44Father!” 16The Spirit Himself 45testifies with our spirit that we are 46children of God, 17and if children, 47heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, 48if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time 49are not worthy to be compared with the 50glory that is to be revealed to us. 19For the 51eagerly awaiting creation waits for 52the revealing of the 53sons and daughters of God. 20For the creation 54was subjected to 55futility, not willingly, but 56because of Him who subjected it, 57in hope 21that 58the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22For we know that the whole creation 59groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. 2360And not only that, but also we ourselves, having 61the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves 62groan within ourselves, 63waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons and daughters, 64the redemption of our body. 24For 65in hope we have been saved, but 66hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25But 67if we hope for what we do not see, through perseverance we wait eagerly for it.
Our Victory in Christ
26Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for 68we do not know what to pray for as we should, but 69the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with 70groanings too deep for words; 27and 71He who searches the hearts knows what 72the mind of the Spirit is, because He 73intercedes for the 74saints according to the will of God.
28And we know that 75God 76causes 77all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are 78called according to His purpose. 29For those whom He 79foreknew, He also 80predestined to become 81conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the 82firstborn among many brothers and sisters; 30and these whom He 83predestined, He also 84called; and these whom He called, He also 85justified; and these whom He justified, He also 86glorified.
3187What then shall we say to these things? 88If God is for us, who is against us? 32He who 89did not spare His own Son, but 90delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33Who will bring charges against 91God’s elect? 92God is the one who justifies; 34who is the one who 93condemns? Christ Jesus is He who 94died, but rather, was 9596raised, who is 97at the right hand of God, who also 98intercedes for us. 35Who will separate us from 99the love of 100Christ? Will 101tribulation, or trouble, or 102persecution, or 103famine, or 104nakedness, or 105danger, or sword? 36Just as it is written: “106For Your sake we are killed all day long; We were regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37But in all these things we overwhelmingly 107conquer through 108Him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither 109death, nor life, nor 110angels, nor principalities, nor 111things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from 112the love of God that is 113in Christ Jesus our Lord.
