Mark 5
The Gerasene Demoniac
11They cameG2064 to the otherG4008 sideG4008 of the seaG2281, into the countryG5561 of the GerasenesG1086. 2When He gotG1831 out of 2the boatG4143, immediatelyG2117 a manG444 from the tombsG3419 3with an uncleanG169 spiritG4151 metG5221 Him, 3and he hadG2192 his dwellingG2731 amongG1722 the tombsG3418. And noG3761G3762 oneG3762 was ableG1410 to bindG1210 him anymoreG3765, evenG3761 with a chainG254; 4becauseG1223 he had oftenG4178 been boundG1210 with shacklesG3976 and chainsG254, and the chainsG254 had been tornG1288 apartG1288 by him and the shacklesG3976 brokenG4937 in piecesG4937, and noG3762 oneG3762 was strongG2480 enoughG2480 to subdueG1150 him. 5ConstantlyG1223, nightG3571 and dayG2250, he was screamingG2896 amongG1722 the tombsG3418 and in the mountainsG3735, and gashingG2629 himselfG1438 with stonesG3037. 6SeeingG3708 JesusG2424 from a distanceG3113, he ranG5143 up and bowedG4352 downG4352 beforeG4352 Him; 7and shoutingG2896 with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, he saidG3004, “45WhatG5101 business do we have with each other, JesusG2424, 6SonG5207 of 7the MostG5310 HighG5310 GodG2316? I imploreG3726 You by GodG2316, do not tormentG928 me!” 8For He had been sayingG3004 to him, “ComeG1831 out of the manG444, you uncleanG169 spiritG4151!” 9And He was askingG1905 him, “WhatG5101 is your nameG3686?” And he saidG3004 to Him, “My nameG3686 is 8LegionG3003; for we are manyG4183.” 10And he began to imploreG3870 Him earnestlyG4183 not to sendG649 them out of the countryG5561. 11NowG1161 there was a largeG3173 herdG34 of swineG5519 feedingG1006 9nearbyG1563 on the mountainG3735. 12The demons imploredG3870 Him, sayingG3004, “SendG3992 us into the swineG5519 soG2443 that we may enterG1525 them.” 13Jesus gaveG2010 them permissionG2010. And comingG1831 out, the uncleanG169 spiritsG4151 enteredG1525 the swineG5519; and the herdG34 rushedG3729 downG2596 the steepG2911 bankG2911 into the seaG2281, aboutG5613 twoG1367 thousandG1367 of them; and they were drownedG4155 in the seaG2281.
14Their herdsmenG1006 ranG5343 awayG5343 and reportedG518 it in the cityG4172 and in the countryG68. And the people cameG2064 to seeG3708 whatG5101 it was that had happenedG1096. 15They cameG2064 to JesusG2424 and observedG2334 the man who had been 10demon-possessedG1139 sittingG2521 downG2521, 11clothedG2439 and 12in his rightG4993 mindG4993, the very man who had hadG2192 the “13legionG3003”; and they became frightenedG5399. 16ThoseG3588 who had seenG3708 it describedG1334 to them howG4459 it had happenedG1096 to the 14demon-possessedG1139 man, and all aboutG4012 the swineG5519. 17And they beganG757 to 15imploreG3870 Him to leaveG565 their regionG3725. 1816As He was gettingG1684 into the boatG4143, the man who had been 17demon-possessedG1139 was imploringG3870 Him that he might 18accompanyG3326G1510 Him. 19And He did not letG863 him, but He saidG3004 to him, “19GoG5217 homeG3624 to your peopleG4674 and reportG518 to them 20whatG3745 greatG3745 thingsG3745 the LordG2962 has doneG4160 for you, and how He hadG1653 mercyG1653 on you.” 20And he wentG565 awayG565 and beganG757 to 21proclaimG2784 in 22DecapolisG1179 23whatG3745 greatG3745 thingsG3745 JesusG2424 had doneG4160 for him; and everyoneG3956 was amazedG2296.
Miracles and Healing
2124When JesusG2424 had crossedG1276 overG1276 againG3825 in 25the boatG4143 to the otherG4008 sideG4008, a largeG4183 crowdG3793 gatheredG4863 aroundG1909 Him; and so He 26stayedG1510 27by the seashoreG2281. 2228OneG1520 of 29the synagogueG752 30officialsG752 namedG3686 JairusG2383 cameG2064 up, and on seeingG3708 Him, fellG4098 at His feetG4228 23and imploredG3870 Him earnestlyG4183, sayingG3004, “My littleG2365 daughterG2365 is at the pointG2079 of deathG2079; please comeG2064 and 31layG2007 Your handsG5495 on her, soG2443 that she will 32getG4982 wellG4982 and liveG2198.” 24And He wentG565 offG565 with him; and a largeG4183 crowdG3793 was followingG190 Him and pressingG4918 in on Him.
25A womanG1135 who had hadG1510 a hemorrhageG4511G129 for twelveG1427 yearsG2094, 26and had enduredG3958 muchG4183 at the handsG5259 of manyG4183 physiciansG2395, and had spentG1159 allG3956 that she hadG3844 and was not helpedG5623 at allG3367, but ratherG3123 had grownG2064 worseG5501-- 27after hearingG191 aboutG4012 JesusG2424, she cameG2064 up in the crowdG3793 behindG3693 Him and touchedG681 His 33cloakG2440. 28For she 34thoughtG3004, “IfG1437 I justG2579 touchG681 His garmentsG2440, I will 35getG4982 well.” 29ImmediatelyG2117 the flowG4077 of her bloodG129 was driedG3583 up; and she feltG1097 in her bodyG4983 that she was healedG2390 of her 36afflictionG3148. 30ImmediatelyG2117 JesusG2424, perceivingG1921 in HimselfG1438 that 37the powerG1411 proceeding from Him had goneG1831 forthG1831, turnedG1994 aroundG1994 in the crowdG3793 and saidG3004, “WhoG5101 touchedG681 My garmentsG2440?” 31And His disciplesG3101 saidG3004 to Him, “You seeG991 the crowdG3793 pressingG4918 in on You, and You sayG3004, ‘WhoG5101 touchedG681 Me?’” 32And He lookedG4017 aroundG4017 to seeG3708 the woman who had doneG4160 thisG3778. 33But the womanG1135 fearingG5399 and tremblingG5141, awareG3609 of whatG3739 had happenedG1096 to her, cameG2064 and fellG4363 downG4363 beforeG4363 Him and toldG3004 Him the wholeG3956 truthG225. 34And He saidG3004 to her, “DaughterG2364, 38your faithG4102 has 39madeG4982 you wellG4982; 40goG5217 in peaceG1515 and be healedG5199 of your 41afflictionG3148.”
35While He was stillG2089 speakingG2980, they cameG2064 from the house of the 42synagogueG752 officialG752, sayingG3004, “Your daughterG2364 has diedG599; whyG5101 troubleG4660 the TeacherG1320 anymoreG2089?” 36But JesusG2424, overhearingG3878 whatG3588G3056 was being spokenG2980, saidG3004 to the 43synagogueG752 officialG752, “44Do not be afraidG5399 any longer, onlyG3440 45believeG4100.” 37And He allowedG863 noG3756G3762 oneG3762 to accompanyG4870 Him, exceptG1508 46PeterG4074 and 47JamesG2385 and JohnG2491 the brotherG80 of 48JamesG2385. 38They cameG2064 to the houseG3624 of the 49synagogueG752 officialG752; and He sawG2335 a commotionG2351, and people loudlyG4183 weepingG2799 and wailingG214. 39And enteringG1525 in, He saidG3004 to them, “WhyG5101 makeG2350 a commotionG2350 and weepG2799? The childG3813 has not diedG599, but is asleepG2518.” 40They began laughingG2606 at Him. But puttingG1544 them allG3956 out, He tookG3880 alongG3880 the child’sG3813 fatherG3962 and motherG3384 and His own companionsG3588G3326, and enteredG1531 the room whereG3699 the childG3813 was. 41TakingG2902 the childG3813 by the handG5495, He saidG3004 to her, “TalithaG5008 kumG2891!” (whichG3739 translatedG3177 meansG1510, “LittleG2877 girlG2877, 50I sayG3004 to you, getG1453 up!”). 42ImmediatelyG2117 the girlG2877 gotG450 up and began to walkG4043, for she was twelveG1427 yearsG2094 old. And immediatelyG2117 they were completelyG1611G3173 astoundedG1839. 43And He 51gaveG1291 them strictG4183 ordersG1291 that noG3367 oneG3367 should knowG1097 about thisG3778, and He saidG3004 that something should be givenG1325 her to eatG2068.
