Mark 11
The Triumphal Entry
11As they approachedG1448 JerusalemG2414, at BethphageG967 and 2BethanyG963, nearG4314 3the MountG3735 of OlivesG1636, He sentG649 twoG1417 of His disciplesG3101, 2and saidG3004 to them, “GoG5217 into the villageG2968 oppositeG2713 you, and immediatelyG2117 as you enterG1531 it, you will findG2147 a coltG4454 tiedG1210 there, on whichG3739 noG3762 oneG444G3762 yetG3768 has everG3768 satG2523; untieG3089 it and bringG5342 it here. 3IfG1437 anyoneG5100 saysG3004 to you, ‘WhyG5101 are you doingG4160 thisG3778?’ you sayG3004, ‘The LordG2962 hasG2192 needG5532 of it’; and immediatelyG2117 he 4will sendG649 it backG3825 hereG5602.” 4They wentG565 awayG565 and foundG2147 a coltG4454 tiedG1210 at the doorG2374, outsideG1854 in the streetG296; and they untiedG3089 it. 5SomeG5100 of the bystandersG1563G2476 were sayingG3004 to them, “WhatG5101 are you doingG4160, untyingG3089 the coltG4454?” 6They spokeG3004 to them justG2531 as JesusG2424 had toldG3004 them, and they gaveG863 them permissionG863. 75They broughtG5342 the coltG4454 to JesusG2424 and putG1911 their coatsG2440 on it; and He satG2523 on it. 8And manyG4183 spreadG4766 their coatsG2440 in the roadG3598, and othersG243 spread leafyG4742 branchesG4742 which they had cutG2875 from the fieldsG68. 9ThoseG3588 who wentG4254 in frontG4254 and thoseG3588 who followedG190 were shoutingG2896: “HosannaG5614! 6BlessedG2127 is He who comesG2064 in the nameG3686 of the LordG2962;10BlessedG2127 is the comingG2064 kingdomG932 of our fatherG3962 DavidG1160; HosannaG5614 7in the highestG5310!”
118Jesus enteredG1525 JerusalemG2414 and came into the templeG2413; and after lookingG4017 aroundG4017 at everythingG3956, 9He leftG1831 for BethanyG963 with the twelveG1427, since it was alreadyG2235 lateG3796.
1210On the nextG1887 dayG1887, when they had leftG1831 BethanyG963, He became hungryG3983. 13SeeingG3708 at a distanceG3113 a figG4808 treeG4808 in leafG5444, He wentG2064 to see ifG1487 perhapsG686 He would findG2147 anythingG5100 on it; and when He cameG2064 to it, He foundG2147 nothingG3762 but leavesG5444, for it was not the seasonG2540 for figsG4810. 14He saidG3004 to it, “May noG3367 oneG3367 everG1519G165 eatG2068 fruitG2590 from you againG3371!” And His disciplesG3101 were listeningG191.
Jesus Drives Money Changers from the Temple
1511ThenG2532 they cameG2064 to JerusalemG2414. And He enteredG1525 the templeG2413 and beganG757 to driveG1544 out thoseG3588 who were buyingG59 and sellingG4453 in the templeG2413, and overturnedG2690 the tablesG5132 of the moneyG2855 changersG2855 and the seatsG2515 of thoseG3588 who were sellingG4453 12dovesG4058; 16and He would not permitG863 anyoneG5100 to carryG1308 13merchandiseG4632 throughG1223 the templeG2413. 17And He began to teachG1321 and sayG3004 to them, “Is it not writtenG1125, ‘14My houseG3624 shall be calledG2564 a houseG3624 of prayerG4335 for allG3956 the nationsG1484’? 15But you have madeG4160 it a robbers’G3027 16denG4693.” 18The chiefG749 priestsG749 and the scribesG1122 heardG191 this, and 17began seekingG2212 howG4459 to destroyG622 Him; for they were afraidG5399 of Him, for 18the wholeG3956 crowdG3793 was astonishedG1605 at His teachingG1322.
1919WhenG3752 eveningG3796 cameG1096, 20they would goG1607 out of the cityG4172.
2021As they were passingG3899 by in the morningG4404, they sawG3708 the figG4808 treeG4808 witheredG3583 from the rootsG4491 up. 21Being remindedG363, PeterG4074 saidG3004 to Him, “22RabbiG4461, lookG2396, the figG4808 treeG4808 whichG3739 You cursedG2672 has witheredG3583.” 22And JesusG2424 answeredG611 sayingG3004 to them, “23HaveG2192 faithG4102 in GodG2316. 2324TrulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, whoeverG3739G302 saysG3004 to thisG3778 mountainG3735, ‘Be takenG142 up and castG906 into the seaG2281,’ and does not doubtG1252 in his heartG2588, but believesG4100 that whatG3739 he saysG2980 is going to happenG1096, it will be granted him. 24ThereforeG1223G3778 I sayG3004 to you, 25allG3956 thingsG3956 for whichG3745 you prayG4336 and askG154, believeG4100 that you have receivedG2983 them, and they will be granted you. 25WheneverG3752 you 26standG4739 prayingG4336, 27forgiveG863, ifG1487 you haveG2192 anythingG5100 againstG2596 anyoneG5100, soG2443 that your FatherG3962 whoG3588 is in heavenG3772 will alsoG2532 forgiveG863 you your transgressionsG3900. 26[2829But ifG1487 you do not forgiveG863, neitherG3761 will your FatherG3962 whoG3588 is in heavenG3772 forgiveG863 your transgressionsG3900.”]
Jesus’ Authority Questioned
27They cameG2064 againG3825 to JerusalemG2414. 30And as He was walkingG4043 in the templeG2413, the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the scribesG1122 and the eldersG4245 cameG2064 to Him, 28and began sayingG3004 to Him, “By whatG4169 authorityG1849 are You doingG4160 theseG3778 thingsG3778, orG2228 whoG5101 gaveG1325 You thisG3778 authorityG1849 to doG4160 theseG3778 thingsG3778?” 29And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “I will askG1905 you oneG1520 questionG3056, and you answerG611 Me, and then I will tellG3004 you by whatG4169 authorityG1849 I doG4160 theseG3778 thingsG3778. 30Was the baptismG908 of JohnG2491 from heavenG3772, orG2228 from menG444? AnswerG611 Me.” 31They began reasoningG1260 amongG4314 themselvesG1438, sayingG3004, “IfG1437 we sayG3004, ‘From heavenG3772,’ He will sayG3004, ‘ThenG3767 whyG1223G5101 did you not believeG4100 him?’ 32But 31shall we sayG3004, ‘From menG444’?”--they were afraidG5399 of the peopleG3793, for everyoneG537 consideredG2192 JohnG2491 to have beenG1510 a realG3689 prophetG4396. 33AnsweringG611 JesusG2424, they saidG3004, “We do not knowG3609.” And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “NorG3761 32will I tellG3004 you by whatG4169 authorityG1849 I doG4160 theseG3778 thingsG3778.”
