New American Standard Bible 1995

The Young Shulammite Bride and Jerusalem’s Daughters

1The 1SongH7892 of 2SongsH7892, whichH834 is Solomon’sH8010.

2“3May he kissH5401 me with the kissesH5390 of his mouthH6310! For your 4loveH1730 is betterH2896 thanH4480 wineH3196.3Your 5oilsH8081 have a pleasingH2896 fragranceH7381, Your 6nameH8034 is like 7purifiedH7385 oilH8081; ThereforeH5921H3651 the 89maidensH5959 loveH157 you.4DrawH4900 me afterH310 you and let us runH7323 together! The 10kingH4428 has broughtH935 me into his chambersH2315.” “11We will rejoiceH1523 in you and be gladH8055; We will 12extolH2142 your 13loveH1730 moreH4480 thanH4480 wineH3196. RightlyH4339 do they loveH157 you.”

5“14I am blackH7838 but 15lovelyH5000, O 16daughtersH1323 of JerusalemH3389, Like the 17tentsH168 of 18KedarH6938, Like the curtainsH3407 of SolomonH8010.6Do not stareH7200 at me because I am 19swarthyH7840, For the sunH8121 has burnedH7805 me. My 20mother’sH517 sonsH1121 were angryH2734 with me; They madeH7760 me 21caretakerH5201 of the vineyardsH3754, But I have not takenH5201 careH5201 of my own vineyardH3754.7TellH5046 me, O you 22whomH7945 my soulH5315 lovesH157, WhereH351 do you 23pastureH7462 your flock, WhereH351 do you make it 24lieH7257 downH7257 at noonH6672? For whyH4100 should I be like one who 25veilsH5844 herself BesideH5921 the flocksH5739 of your 26companionsH2270?”

Solomon, the Lover, Speaks

8“27IfH518 you yourself do not knowH3045, 28Most beautifulH3303 among womenH802, GoH3318 forthH3318 on the trailH6119 of the flockH6629 And pastureH7462 your youngH1429 goatsH1429 By the tentsH4908 of the shepherdsH7462.

9“29To me, 30my darlingH7474, you are likeH1819 My 31mareH5484 among the chariotsH7393 of PharaohH6547.10Your 32cheeksH3895 are lovelyH4998 with ornamentsH8447, Your neckH6677 with stringsH2737 of 33beadsH2737.”

11“34We will makeH6213 for you ornamentsH8447 of goldH2091 With beadsH5351 of silverH3701.”

12“35WhileH5704 the kingH4428 was at his 36tableH4524, My 3738perfumeH5373 gaveH5414 forth its fragranceH7381.13My belovedH1730 is to me a pouchH6872 of 39myrrhH4753 Which liesH3885 all nightH3885 betweenH996 my breastsH7699.14My belovedH1730 is to me a clusterH811 of 40hennaH3724 blossoms In the vineyardsH3754 of 41EngediH5872.”

15“424344HowH2009 beautifulH3303 you are, my darlingH7474, 45HowH2009 beautifulH3303 you are! Your 46eyesH5869 are like dovesH3123.”

16“4748HowH2009 handsomeH3303 you are, 49my belovedH1730, And soH637 pleasantH5273! IndeedH637, our couchH6210 is luxuriantH7488!17The beamsH6982 of our housesH1004 are 50cedarsH730, Our raftersH7351, 5152cypressesH1266.
