2SolomonH8010 spokeH559 to allH3605 IsraelH3478, 3to the commandersH8269 of thousandsH505 and of hundredsH3967 and to the judgesH8199 and to everyH3605 leaderH5387 in allH3605 IsraelH3478, the headsH7218 of the fathers’H1 households. 3Then SolomonH8010 and allH3605 the assemblyH6951 with him wentH1980 to 4the highH1116 placeH1116 whichH834 was at GibeonH1391, 5for God’sH430 tentH168 of meetingH4150 was thereH8033, whichH834 MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of the LordH3068 had madeH6213 in the wildernessH4057. 4HoweverH61, DavidH1732 had broughtH5927 up 6the arkH727 of GodH430 from Kiriath-jearimH7157 7to 8the place he had preparedH3559 for it, for he had pitchedH5186 a tentH168 for it in JerusalemH3389. 5Now 9the bronzeH5178 altarH4196, whichH834 BezalelH1212 the sonH1121 of UriH221, the sonH1121 of HurH2354, had madeH6213, 10was thereH8033 beforeH6440 the tabernacleH4908 of the LordH3068, and SolomonH8010 and the assemblyH6951 soughtH1875 it out. 6SolomonH8010 wentH5927 up thereH8033 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 to the bronzeH5178 altarH4196 whichH834 was at the tentH168 of meetingH4150, and 11offeredH5927 a thousandH505 burntH5930 offeringsH5930 on it.
712In that nightH3915 GodH430 appearedH7200 to SolomonH8010 and saidH559 to him, “AskH7592 whatH4100 I shall giveH5414 you.”

8SolomonH8010 saidH559 to GodH430, “You have dealtH6213 with my fatherH1 DavidH1732 with greatH1419 lovingkindnessH2617, and 13have madeH4427 me kingH4427 in his placeH8478. 9NowH6258, O LordH3068 GodH430, 14Your 15promiseH1697 to my fatherH1 DavidH1732 is fulfilledH539, for You have madeH4427 me kingH4427 overH5921 16a peopleH5971 as numerousH7227 as the dustH6083 of the earthH776. 1017GiveH5414 me nowH6258 wisdomH2451 and knowledgeH4093, 18that I may goH3318 out and comeH935 in beforeH6440 thisH2088 peopleH5971, for whoH4310 can ruleH8199 thisH2088 greatH1419 peopleH5971 of Yours?” 1119GodH430 saidH559 to SolomonH8010, “BecauseH3282H834 20you hadH1961 thisH2088 in mindH3824, and did not askH7592 for richesH6239, wealthH5233 or honorH3519, or the lifeH5315 of those who hateH8130 you, norH3808 have you evenH1571 askedH7592 for longH7227 lifeH3117, but you have askedH7592 for yourself wisdomH2451 and knowledgeH4093 that you may ruleH8199 My peopleH5971 overH5921 whomH834 I have madeH4427 you kingH4427, 12wisdomH2451 and knowledgeH4093 have been grantedH5414 to you. And 21I will giveH5414 you richesH6239 and wealthH5233 and honorH3519, 22suchH834H3651 as noneH3808 of the kingsH4428 whoH834 were beforeH6440 you has possessedH1961H3651 norH3808 those who will 23come afterH310 you.” 1324So SolomonH8010 wentH935 25from the highH1116 placeH1116 whichH834 was at GibeonH1391, from the tentH168 of meetingH4150, to JerusalemH3389, and he reignedH4427 overH5921 IsraelH3478.
