Acts 9
Darby Bible
1But SaulG4569, stillG2089 breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciplesG3101 of the LordG2962, cameG4334 to the highG749 priestG749 2and askedG154 of him lettersG1992 to DamascusG1154, to the synagoguesG4864, so that if he foundG2147 any who wereG1510 of the wayG3598, both menG435 and womenG1135, he might bringG71 [them] boundG1210 to JerusalemG2419. 3But as he was journeyingG4198, it cameG1096 to passG1096 that he drew near to DamascusG1154; and suddenlyG1810 there shone round about him a lightG5457 out of heavenG3772, 4and fallingG4098 on the earthG1093 he heardG191 a voiceG5456 sayingG3004 to him, SaulG4549, SaulG4549, whyG5101 dost thou persecuteG1377 me? 5And he saidG3004, Who art thou, LordG2962? And he [saidG3004], I amG1510 JesusG2424, whom thou persecutest. 6But riseG450 up and enterG1525 into the cityG4172, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. 7But the menG435 who were travelling with him stoodG2476 speechless, hearingG191 the voiceG5456 but beholding no oneG3367. 8And SaulG4569 roseG1453 up from the earthG1093, and his eyesG3788 being openedG455 he sawG991 no oneG3762. But leading [him] by the hand they broughtG1521 him into DamascusG1154. 9And he wasG1510 threeG5140 daysG2250 without seeingG991, and neither ateG2068 nor drankG4095. 10And there wasG1510 a certainG5100 discipleG3101 in DamascusG1154 by nameG3686 AnaniasG367. And the LordG2962 saidG3004 to him in a visionG3705, AnaniasG367. And he saidG3004, BeholdG2400, [here amG1510] I, LordG2962. 11And the LordG2962 [said] to him, RiseG450 up and goG4198 into the streetG4505 which is calledG2564 StraightG2117, and seekG2212 in the houseG3614 of JudasG2455 oneG3588 by nameG3686 SaulG4569, [he is] of TarsusG5018: for, beholdG2400, he is prayingG4336, 12and has seenG3708 [in a visionG3705] a manG435 by nameG3686 AnaniasG367 comingG1525 in and putting his handG5495 on him, so that he should seeG3708. 13And AnaniasG367 answeredG611, LordG2962, I have heardG191 from manyG4183 concerningG4012 this manG435 howG3745 muchG4183 evilG2556 he has done to thy saintsG40 at JerusalemG2419; 14and hereG5602 he has authorityG1849 from the chiefG749 priestsG749 to bindG1210 all who callG1941 upon thy nameG3686. 15And the LordG2962 saidG3004 to him, GoG4198, for this [manG3778] isG1510 an elect vesselG4632 to me, to bearG941 my nameG3686 before both nationsG1484 and kingsG935 and [the] sonsG5207 of IsraelG2474: 16for I will shew to him howG3745 muchG3745 he must sufferG3958 for my nameG3686. 17And AnaniasG367 wentG565 and enteredG1525 into the houseG3614; and layingG2007 his handsG5495 upon him he saidG3004, SaulG4549, brotherG80, the LordG2962 has sentG649 me, JesusG2424 that appeared to thee in the wayG3598 in which thou camest, that thou mightest seeG3708, and be filledG4130 with [the] HolyG40 SpiritG4151. 18And straightway there fell from his eyesG3788 as it were scales, and he saw, and risingG450 up was baptised; 19and, having receivedG2983 foodG5160, got strength. And he was with the disciplesG3101 who [were] in DamascusG1154 certainG5100 daysG2250. 20And straightway in the synagoguesG4864 he preachedG2784 JesusG2424 that he isG1510 the SonG5207 of 1GodG2316. 21And all who heardG191 wereG1510 astonished and saidG3004, IsG1510 not this he who destroyedG4199 in JerusalemG2419 those who called on this nameG3686, and hereG5602 wasG1510 comeG2064 for this purpose, that he might bringG71 them boundG1210 to the chiefG749 priestsG749? 22But SaulG4569 increased the moreG3123 in power, and confounded the JewsG2453 who dwelt in DamascusG1154, proving that this isG1510 the ChristG5547. 23NowG1161 whenG5613 manyG2425 daysG2250 were fulfilled, the JewsG2453 consulted togetherG4823 to kill him. 24But their plotG1917 became knownG1097 to SaulG4569. And they watchedG3906 alsoG2532 the gatesG4439 both dayG2250 and nightG3571, that they might kill him; 25but the disciplesG3101 tookG2983 him by nightG3571 and let him downG5465 through the wallG5038, lowering him in a basketG4711. 26And having arrived at JerusalemG2419 he essayed to joinG2853 himself to the disciplesG3101, and all wereG1510 afraidG5399 of him, not believingG4100 that he wasG1510 a discipleG3101. 27But BarnabasG921 took him and broughtG71 him to the apostlesG652, and related to them howG4459 he had seenG3708 the LordG2962 in the wayG3598, and that he had spokenG2980 to him, and howG4459 in DamascusG1154 he had spokenG2980 boldlyG3955 in the nameG3686 of JesusG2424. 28And he wasG1510 with them comingG1607 in and goingG1607 out at JerusalemG2419, 29and speakingG2980 boldly in the name of the Lord. And he spokeG2980 and discussed with the Hellenists; but they sought to kill him. 30And the brethren knowing it, broughtG2609 him downG2609 to CaesareaG2542 and sent him awayG1821 to TarsusG5019. 31The assemblies then throughout the wholeG3650 of Judaea and GalileeG1056 and SamariaG4540 had peaceG1515, being edifiedG3618 and walkingG4198 in the fearG5401 of the LordG2962, and were increased through the comfortG3874 of the HolyG40 SpiritG4151. 32NowG1161 it cameG1096 to passG1330 that PeterG4074, passingG1330 through all [quarters], descended alsoG2532 to the saintsG40 who inhabited LyddaG3069. 33And he foundG2147 there a certainG5100 manG444, AeneasG132 by nameG3686, who had beenG1510 lying for eightG3638 yearsG2094 upon a couch, who wasG1510 paralysed. 34And PeterG4074 saidG3004 to him, AeneasG132, JesusG2424, the ChristG5547, healsG2390 thee: riseG450 up, and make thy couch for thyself. And straightway he roseG450 up. 35And all who inhabited LyddaG3069 and the Saron sawG3708 him, who turnedG1994 to the LordG2962. 36And in JoppaG2445 there wasG1510 a certainG5100 female disciple, by nameG3686 TabithaG5000, which beingG1510 interpreted means DorcasG1393. She wasG1510 fullG4134 of goodG18 worksG2041 and alms-deeds which she did. 37And it cameG1096 to passG1096 in those daysG2250 that she grew sickG770 and diedG599; and, having washedG3068 her, they putG5087 her in [the] upperG5253 roomG5253. 38But LyddaG3069 beingG1510 near to JoppaG2445, the disciplesG3101 having heardG191 that PeterG4074 wasG1510 there, sentG649 twoG1417 menG435 to him, beseechingG3870 him, Thou must not delay coming to us. 39And PeterG4074 risingG450 up went with them, whom, when arrived, they broughtG321 up into the upperG5253 chamber; and all the widowsG5503 stoodG450 by him weepingG2799 and shewing him the body-coats and garmentsG2440 which DorcasG1393 had madeG4160 while she wasG1510 with them. 40But PeterG4074, puttingG5087 them all out, and kneeling downG5087, prayedG4336. And, turningG1994 to the bodyG4983, he saidG3004, TabithaG5000, ariseG450. And she openedG455 her eyesG3788, and, seeingG3708 PeterG4074, sat up. 41And having givenG1325 her [his] handG5495, he raisedG450 her up, and having calledG5455 the saintsG40 and the widowsG5503, presentedG3936 her livingG2198. 42And it becameG1096 known throughout the wholeG3650 of JoppaG2445, and manyG4183 believedG4100 on the LordG2962. 43And it cameG1096 to passG1096 that he remainedG3306 manyG2425 daysG2250 in JoppaG2445 with a certainG5100 SimonG4613, a tannerG1038.
