Acts 6
Darby Bible
1But in those daysG2250, the disciplesG3101 multiplyingG4129 in number, there aroseG1096 a murmuring of the Hellenists against the HebrewsG1445 because their widowsG5503 were overlooked in the daily ministration. 2And the twelveG1427, having called the multitudeG4128 of the disciplesG3101 to [them], saidG3004, It isG1510 not right that we, leavingG2641 the wordG3056 of 1GodG2316, should serveG1247 tablesG5132. 3Look out therefore, brethren, from among yourselvesG4771 sevenG2033 menG435, well reported of, fullG4134 of [the] [Holy] SpiritG4151 and wisdomG4678, whom we will establish over this business: 4but we will give ourselves up to prayerG4335 and the ministryG1248 of the wordG3056. 5And the sayingG3056 pleasedG700 the whole multitudeG4128: and they chose StephenG4736, a manG435 fullG4134 of faithG4102 and [the] HolyG40 SpiritG4151, and PhilipG5376, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte of Antioch, 6whom they setG2476 before the apostlesG652; and, having prayedG4336, they laidG2007 their handsG5495 on them. 7And the wordG3056 of 2GodG2316 increasedG837; and the numberG706 of the disciplesG3101 in JerusalemG2419 was very greatly multipliedG4129, and a greatG4183 crowdG3793 of the priestsG2409 obeyedG5219 the faithG4102. 8And StephenG4736, fullG4134 of graceG5485 and powerG1411, wrought wondersG5059 and greatG3173 signsG4592 among the peopleG2992. 9And there aroseG450 up certainG5100 of those of the synagogueG4864 called of freedmen, and of Cyrenians, and of Alexandrians, and of those of CiliciaG2791 and AsiaG773, disputing with StephenG4736. 10And they were not ableG2480 to resistG436 the wisdomG4678 and the SpiritG4151 with which he spokeG2980. 11Then they suborned menG435, sayingG3004, We have heardG191 him speakingG2980 blasphemous words against MosesG3475 and 3GodG2316. 12And they roused the peopleG2992, and the eldersG4245, and the scribesG1122. And coming upon [him] they seized him and broughtG71 [him] to the councilG4892. 13And they setG2476 falseG5571 witnessesG3144, sayingG3004, This manG444 does not ceaseG3973 speakingG2980 words against the holyG40 placeG5117 and the lawG3551; 14for we have heardG191 him sayingG3004, This JesusG2424 the Nazaraean shall destroyG2647 this placeG5117, and changeG236 the customsG1485 which MosesG3475 taught us. 15And all who sat in the councilG4892, lookingG816 fixedly on him, sawG3708 his faceG4383 as [the] faceG4383 of an angelG32.
