Acts 18
Darby Bible
1And after these thingsG3778, having left AthensG116, he cameG2064 to CorinthG2882; 2and findingG2147 a certainG5100 JewG2453 by nameG3686 AquilaG207, of Pontus by raceG1085, just comeG2064 from ItalyG2482, and PriscillaG4252 his wifeG1135, (because ClaudiusG2804 had ordered all the JewsG2453 to leave RomeG4516,) cameG2064 to them, 3and because they wereG1510 of the sameG846 trade abode with them, and wrought. For they wereG1510 tent-makers by trade. 4And he reasonedG1256 in the synagogueG4864 every sabbathG4521, and persuadedG3982 JewsG2453 and GreeksG1672. 5And whenG5613 both SilasG4609 and Timotheus cameG2718 downG2718 from MacedoniaG3109, PaulG3972 wasG1510 pressed in respect of the wordG3056, testifyingG1263 to the JewsG2453 that JesusG2424 wasG1510 the ChristG5547. 6But as they opposed and spokeG3004 injuriously, he shookG1621 his clothesG2440, and saidG3004 to them, Your bloodG129 be upon your ownG1438 headG2776: I [am] pureG2513; from henceforth I will goG4198 to the nationsG1484. 7And departingG3327 thence he cameG1525 to the houseG3614 of a certainG5100 [man], by nameG3686 JustusG2459, who worshipped 1GodG2316, whose houseG3614 adjoined the synagogueG4864. 8But CrispusG2921 the ruler of the synagogueG752 believedG4100 in the LordG2962 with all his houseG3624; and manyG4183 of the CorinthiansG2881 hearingG191, believedG4100, and were baptised. 9And the LordG2962 saidG3004 by visionG3705 in [the] nightG3571 to PaulG3972, FearG5399 not, but speakG2980 and be not silentG4623; 10because I amG1510 with thee, and no oneG3762 shall set upon thee to injure thee; because I have muchG4183 peopleG2992 in this cityG4172. 11And he remained [there] a yearG1763 and sixG1803 monthsG3376, teachingG1321 among them the wordG3056 of 2GodG2316. 12But when GallioG1058 wasG1510 proconsulG446 of AchaiaG882, the JewsG2453 with oneG3661 consent rose against PaulG3972 and ledG71 him to the judgment-seat, 13sayingG3004, This [manG444] persuades menG444 to worshipG4576 3GodG2316 contraryG3844 to the lawG3551. 14But as PaulG3972 wasG1510 going to openG455 his mouthG4750, GallioG1058 saidG3004 to the JewsG2453, If indeedG3303 it wasG1510 some wrong or wickedG4190 criminality, O JewsG2453, of reason I should have borne with you; 15but if it beG1510 questionsG2213 about wordsG3056, and namesG3686, and the lawG3551 that ye have, seeG3708 to it yourselves; [for] I do not intendG1014 to beG1510 judgeG2923 of these thingsG3778. 16And he drove them from the judgment-seat. 17And having all laid holdG1949 on SosthenesG4988 the ruler of the synagogueG752, they beatG5180 him before the judgment-seat. And GallioG1058 troubled himself about noneG3762 of these thingsG3778. 18And PaulG3972, having yet stayed [there] manyG2425 daysG2250, took leaveG657 of the brethren and sailedG1602 thence to SyriaG4947, and with him PriscillaG4252 and AquilaG207, having shorn his headG2776 in CenchreaG2747, for he had a vowG2171; 19and he arrived at EphesusG2181, and leftG2641 them there. But enteringG1525 himself into the synagogueG4864 he reasonedG1256 with the JewsG2453. 20And when they askedG2065 him that he would remainG3306 for a longer timeG5550 [with them] he did not accede, 21but bade them farewell, sayingG3004, [I must by all means keep the coming feast at Jerusalem]; I will returnG344 to you againG3825, if 4GodG2316 will: and he sailed awayG575 from EphesusG2181. 22And landing at CaesareaG2542, and having goneG305 up and saluted the assemblyG1577, he wentG305 downG2597 to AntiochG490. 23And having stayed [there] some timeG5550, he wentG1831 forthG1831, passingG1330 in order through the countryG5561 of Galatia and PhrygiaG5435, establishing all the disciplesG3101. 24But a certainG5100 JewG2453, ApollosG625 by nameG3686, an Alexandrian by raceG1085, an eloquent manG435, who wasG1510 mightyG1415 in the scripturesG1124, arrived at EphesusG2181. 25He wasG1510 instructed in the wayG3598 of the LordG2962, and beingG1510 ferventG2204 in his spiritG4151, he spokeG2980 and taughtG1321 exactly the thingsG3778 concerningG4012 JesusG2424, knowingG1987 onlyG3440 the baptismG908 of JohnG2491. 26And he beganG757 to speakG3955 boldlyG3955 in the synagogueG4864. And AquilaG207 and PriscillaG4252, having heardG191 him, took him to [them] and unfolded to him the wayG3598 of 5GodG2316 more exactly. 27And when he purposed to goG1330 into AchaiaG882, the brethren wroteG1125 to the disciplesG3101 engaging them to receive him, who, being comeG3854, contributed muchG4183 to those who believedG4100 through graceG5485. 28For he with great force convinced the JewsG2453 publiclyG1219, shewing by the scripturesG1124 that JesusG2424 wasG1510 the ChristG5547.
