Darby Bible

1And when the dayG2250 of PentecostG4005 wasG1510 now accomplishing, they wereG1510 all togetherG3674 in oneG3588 place. 2And there cameG1096 suddenlyG869 a sound out of heavenG3772 as of a violent impetuous blowing, and filledG4137 all the houseG3624 whereG3757 they wereG1510 sittingG2521. 3And there appeared to them parted tonguesG1100, as of fireG4442, and it satG2523 upon each oneG1520 of them. 4And they were all filledG4130 with [the] HolyG40 SpiritG4151, and beganG757 to speakG2980 with otherG2087 tonguesG1100 as the SpiritG4151 gaveG1325 to them to speakG2980 forth. 5NowG1161 there wereG1510 dwellingG2730 at JerusalemG2419 JewsG2453, pious menG435, from every nationG1484 of those under heavenG3772. 6But the rumour of this having spread, the multitudeG4128 cameG1096 togetherG4905 and were confounded, because each oneG1520 heardG191 them speakingG2980 in his ownG2398 dialect. 7And all wereG1510 amazedG2296 and wonderedG2296, sayingG3004, BeholdG2400, areG1510 not all these who areG1510 speakingG2980 Galilaeans? 8and howG4459 do we hearG191 [them] each in our ownG2398 dialect in which we have been bornG1080, 9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those who inhabit MesopotamiaG3318, and Judaea, and CappadociaG2587, PontusG4195 and AsiaG773, 10both PhrygiaG5435 and PamphyliaG3828, EgyptG125, and the partsG3313 of Libya which adjoin Cyrene, and the RomansG4514 sojourning [here], both JewsG2453 and proselytes, 11CretansG2912 and Arabians, we hearG191 them speakingG2980 in our own tonguesG1100 the great things of 1GodG2316? 12And they wereG1510 all amazed and in perplexity, sayingG3004 oneG3778 to another, What wouldG2309 this mean? 13But othersG2087 mocking saidG3004, They areG1510 full of new wine. 14But PeterG4074, standingG2476 up with the elevenG1733, liftedG1869 up his voiceG5456 and spoke forth to them, MenG435 of Judaea, and all ye inhabitants of JerusalemG2419, let this beG1510 known to you, and give heed to my words: 15for these areG1510 not full of wine, as ye suppose, for it isG1510 the thirdG5154 hourG5610 of the dayG2250; 16but this isG1510 that which wasG1510 spoken through the prophetG4396 Joel, 17And it shall beG1510 in the lastG2078 daysG2250, saith 2GodG2316, [that] I will pour out of my SpiritG4151 upon all fleshG4561; and your sonsG5207 and your daughtersG2364 shall prophesyG4395, and your youngG3495 men shall seeG3708 visions, and your eldersG4245 shall dream with dreams; 18yea, evenG2532 upon my bondmen and upon my bondwomen in those daysG2250 will I pour out of my SpiritG4151, and they shall prophesyG4395. 19And I will giveG1325 wondersG5059 in the heavenG3772 above and signsG4592 on the earthG1093 below, bloodG129, and fireG4442, and vapour of smokeG2586: 20the sunG2246 shall be changed to darknessG4655 and the moonG4582 to bloodG129, before the greatG3173 and gloriously appearing dayG2250 of [the] LordG2962 comeG2064. 21And it shall beG1510 that whosoever shall callG1941 upon the nameG3686 of [the] LordG2962 shall beG1510 savedG4982. 22MenG435 of Israel, hearG191 these wordsG3056: JesusG2424 the Nazaraean, a manG435 borne witness to by 3GodG2316 to you by works of powerG1411 and wondersG5059 and signsG4592, which 4GodG2316 wrought by him in your midstG3319, as yourselves know 23— him, given up by the determinate counselG1012 and foreknowledgeG4268 of 5GodG2316, ye, by [the] handG5495 of lawlessG459 [menG3778], have crucified and slain. 24Whom 6GodG2316 has raisedG450 up, having loosedG3089 the painsG5604 of deathG2288, inasmuch as it wasG1510 not possibleG1415 that he should beG1510 heldG2902 by its powerG1415; 25for DavidG1138 saysG3004 as to him, I foresaw the LordG2962 continually before me, because he isG1510 at my rightG1188 handG1188 that I may not beG1510 moved. 26Therefore has my heartG2588 rejoicedG21 and my tongueG1100 exultedG21; yea moreG2089, my fleshG4561 alsoG2532 shall dwell in hopeG1680, 27for thou wilt not leave my soulG5590 in hadesG86, nor wilt thou giveG1325 thy gracious oneG3588 to seeG3708 corruption. 28Thou hast madeG1107 known to me [the] pathsG3598 of lifeG2222, thou wilt fillG4137 me with joy with thy countenance. 29Brethren, let it beG1510 allowed to speakG3004 with freedom to you concerningG4012 the patriarchG3966 DavidG1138, that he has both died and beenG1510 buriedG2290, and his monument isG1510 amongst us unto this dayG2250. 30Being thereforeG3767 a prophetG4396, and knowing that 7GodG2316 had swornG3660 to him with an oathG3727, of the fruitG2590 of his loinsG3751 to set upon his throneG2362; 31he, seeingG3708 [it] before, spokeG2980 concerningG4012 the resurrectionG386 of the ChristG5547, that neither has he been left in hadesG86 nor his fleshG4561 seenG3708 corruption. 32This JesusG2424 has 8GodG2316 raisedG450 up, whereof all we areG1510 witnessesG3144. 33Having thereforeG3767 been exaltedG5312 by the rightG1188 handG1188 of 9GodG2316, and having receivedG2983 of the FatherG3962 the promiseG1860 of the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, he has poured out this which ye behold and hearG191. 34For DavidG1138 has not ascendedG305 into the heavensG3772, but he saysG3004 himself, The LordG2962 saidG3004 unto my LordG2962, SitG2521 at my rightG1188 handG1188 35until I have putG5087 thine enemiesG2190 [to be] the footstoolG5286 of thy feetG4228. 36Let the whole houseG3624 of IsraelG2474 thereforeG3767 knowG1097 assuredly that 10GodG2316 has madeG4160 him, this JesusG2424 whom ye have crucifiedG4717, both LordG2962 and ChristG5547. 37And having heardG191 [it] they were pricked in heartG2588, and saidG3004 to PeterG4074 and the otherG3062 apostlesG652, What shall we do, brethren? 38And PeterG4074 saidG5346 to them, RepentG3340, and be baptised, each oneG1538 of you, in the nameG3686 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547, for remission of sinsG266, and ye will receiveG2983 the giftG1431 of the HolyG40 SpiritG4151. 39For to you isG1510 the promiseG1860 and to your childrenG5043, and to all who [areG1510] afar off, as manyG3745 as [the] LordG2962 our 11GodG2316 may callG4341. 40And with manyG4183 otherG2087 wordsG3056 he testifiedG1263 and exhortedG3870 them, sayingG3004, Be savedG4982 from this perverse generationG1074. 41Those then who had accepted his wordG3056 were baptised; and there were addedG4369 in that dayG2250 about three thousand soulsG5590. 42And they persevered in the teachingG1322 and fellowshipG2842 of the apostlesG652, in breakingG2800 of breadG740 and prayersG4335. 43And fearG5401 wasG1510 upon every soulG5590, and manyG4183 wondersG5059 and signsG4592 took placeG1096 through the apostles' means. 44And all that believedG4100 wereG1510 together, and had all thingsG3956 commonG2839, 45and sold their possessions and substance, and distributed them to all, according as any oneG5100 might have needG5532. 46And every dayG2250, being constantly in the temple with oneG3661 accordG3661, and breakingG2806 breadG740 in [the] houseG3624, they received their foodG5160 with gladnessG20 and simplicity of heartG2588, 47praisingG134 12GodG2316, and having favour with all the peopleG2992; and the LordG2962 addedG4369 [to the assembly] daily those that were to be savedG4982.
