1And AgrippaG67 saidG3004 to PaulG3972, It is permittedG2010 thee to speakG3004 for thyself. ThenG5119 PaulG3972 stretchingG1614 out his handG5495 answered in his defence: 2I count myself happy, kingG935 AgrippaG67, in having to answer to-day before thee concerningG4012 all of which I am accused by the JewsG2453, 3especiallyG3122 because thou art acquainted with all the customsG1485 and questionsG2213 which areG1510 among the JewsG2453; wherefore I beseech thee to hearG191 me patiently. 4My manner of life thenG3767 from my youthG3503, which from its commencement was passed among my nationG1484 in JerusalemG2414, know all the JewsG2453, 5who knew me before from the outset [of my life], if they wouldG2309 bearG3140 witnessG3140, that accordingG2596 to the strictest sectG139 of our religionG2356 I livedG2198 a PhariseeG5330. 6And nowG3568 I standG2476 to be judgedG2919 because of the hopeG1680 of the promiseG1860 made by 1GodG2316 to our fathersG3962, 7to which our whole twelve tribes servingG3000 incessantly dayG2250 and nightG3571 hopeG1680 to arrive; about which hopeG1680, O kingG935, I am accused of [the] JewsG2453. 8WhyG5101 should it be judgedG2919 a thing incredible in your sight if 2GodG2316 raisesG1453 the deadG3498? 9I indeedG3303 myself thoughtG1380 that I oughtG1163 to do muchG4183 against the nameG3686 of JesusG2424 the Nazaraean. 10Which alsoG2532 I did in JerusalemG2414, and myself shut up in prisonsG5438 manyG4183 of the saintsG40, having receivedG2983 the authorityG1849 from the chiefG749 priestsG749; and when they were put to death I gave my vote. 11And oftenG4178 punishing them in all the synagoguesG4864, I compelledG315 them to blasphemeG987. And, being exceedingly furious against them, I persecutedG1377 them evenG2532 to citiesG4172 out [of our ownG1438 land]. 12And when, [engaged] in this, I was journeyingG4198 to DamascusG1154, with authorityG1849 and powerG1849 from the chiefG749 priestsG749, 13at mid-day, on the wayG3598, I sawG3708, O kingG935, a lightG5457 above the brightness of the sunG2246, shining from heavenG3771 round about me and those who were journeyingG4198 with me. 14And, when we were all fallen to the groundG1093, I heardG191 a voiceG5456 sayingG3004 to me in the HebrewG1446 tongue, SaulG4549, SaulG4549, whyG5101 persecutest thou me? [it is] hardG4642 for thee to kick against goads. 15And I saidG3004, Who art thou, LordG2962? And the LordG2962 saidG3004, I amG1510 JesusG2424 whom thou persecutest: 16but riseG450 up and standG2476 on thy feetG4228; for, for this purpose have I appeared to thee, to appointG4400 thee to be a servant and a witnessG3144 both of what thou hast seenG3708, and of what I shall appear to thee in, 17taking thee out from among the peopleG2992, and the nationsG1484, to whom I sendG649 thee, 18to openG455 their eyesG3788, that they may turnG1994 from darknessG4655 to lightG5457, and from the powerG1849 of SatanG4567 to 3GodG2316, that they may receiveG2983 remission of sinsG266 and inheritanceG2819 among them that are sanctifiedG37 by faithG4102 in me. 19Whereupon, kingG935 AgrippaG67, I was not disobedientG545 to the heavenlyG3770 visionG3701; 20but have, firstG4413 to those both in DamascusG1154 and JerusalemG2414, and to all the regionG5561 of Judaea, and to the nationsG1484, announced that they should repentG3340 and turnG1994 to 4GodG2316, doing worksG2041 worthyG514 of repentanceG3341. 21On account of these thingsG3778 the JewsG2453, having seized me in the temple, attempted to lay hands on and destroy me. 22Having thereforeG3767 met with [the] help which is from 5GodG2316, I have stoodG2476 firmG2476 unto this dayG2250, witnessing both to smallG3398 and greatG3173, sayingG3004 nothing else than those thingsG3778 which both the prophetsG4396 and MosesG3475 have saidG3004 should happenG1096, 23[namely,] whether ChristG5547 should suffer; whether he firstG4413, through resurrectionG386 of [the] deadG3498, should announce lightG5457 both to the peopleG2992 and to the nationsG1484. 24And as he answered for his defence with these thingsG3778, FestusG5347 saysG5346 with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, Thou art mad, PaulG3972; muchG4183 learning turns thee to madness. 25But PaulG3972 saidG5346, I am not mad, mostG2903 excellentG2903 FestusG5347, but utterG669 words of truthG225 and soberness; 26for the kingG935 isG1510 informed about these thingsG3778, to whom alsoG2532 I speakG2980 with all freedom. For I amG1510 persuadedG3982 that of these thingsG3778 nothing isG1510 hidden from him; for this wasG1510 not done in a cornerG1137. 27KingG935 AgrippaG67, believest thou the prophetsG4396? I know that thou believest. 28And AgrippaG67 [said] to PaulG3972, In a littleG3641 thou persuadest me to become a ChristianG5546. 29And PaulG3972 [said], I would to 6GodG2316, both in littleG3641 and in much, that not onlyG3440 thou, but all who have heardG191 me this dayG4594, should becomeG1096 suchG5108 as I alsoG2532 amG1510, except these bonds. 30And the kingG935 stoodG450 up, and the governorG2232 and BerniceG959, and those who sat with them, 31and having gone apart, they spokeG2980 to oneG3762 another sayingG3004, This manG444 does nothing worthyG514 of deathG2288 or of bonds. 32And AgrippaG67 saidG5346 to FestusG5347, This manG444 might have been let goG630 if he had not appealedG1941 to CaesarG2541.
