Acts 24
Darby Bible
1And after fiveG4002 daysG2250 cameG2597 down the highG749 priestG749 AnaniasG367, with the eldersG4245, and a certainG5100 orator called TertullusG5061, and laid their informations against PaulG3972 before the governorG2232. 2And he having been calledG2564, TertullusG5061 beganG757 to accuseG2723, sayingG3004, Seeing we enjoy greatG4183 peaceG1515 through thee, and that excellent measures are executed for this nationG1484 by thy forethought, 3we receive [it] always and everywhereG3837, most excellentG2903 FelixG5344, with all thankfulness. 4But that I may not too muchG4183 intrude on thy time, I beseech thee to hearG191 us briefly in thy kindness. 5For findingG2147 this manG435 a pest, and moving sedition among all the JewsG2453 throughout the worldG3625, and a leader of the sectG139 of the Nazaraeans; 6who alsoG2532 attempted to profane the templeG2411; whom we alsoG2532 had seizedG2902, [and would have judged according to our law; 7but Lysias, the chiliarch, coming up, took [him] away with great force out of our hands, 8having commanded his accusers to come to thee;] of whom thou canst thyself, in examining [him], knowG1921 the certainty of all these thingsG3778 of which we accuseG2723 him. 9And the JewsG2453 alsoG2532 joined in pressing the matter against [Paul], saying that these thingsG3778 were so. 10But PaulG3972, the governorG2232 having beckoned to him to speakG3004, answeredG611, KnowingG1987 that for manyG4183 yearsG2094 thou hast beenG1510 judgeG2923 to this nationG1484, I answerG611 readily as to the thingsG3778 which concern myself. 11As thou mayest knowG1921 that there areG1510 not moreG4183 than twelveG1427 daysG2250 since I wentG305 up to worshipG4352 at JerusalemG2419, 12and neither in the temple did they findG2147 me discoursing to any oneG5100, or makingG4160 any tumultuous gathering together of the crowdG3793, nor in the synagoguesG4864, nor in the cityG4172; 13neither can they make good the thingsG3739 of which they nowG3570 accuseG2723 me. 14But this I avow to thee, that in the wayG3598 which they call sectG139, so I serveG3000 my fathers' 1GodG2316, believingG4100 all thingsG3778 which are writtenG1125 throughout the lawG3551, and in the prophetsG4396; 15having hopeG1680 towards 2GodG2316, which they themselves alsoG2532 receiveG4327, that there isG1510 to beG1510 a resurrectionG386 both of justG1342 and unjustG94. 16For this cause I alsoG2532 exercise [myself] to have in everythingG3956 a conscienceG4893 without offence towards 3GodG2316 and menG444. 17And after a lapse of manyG4183 yearsG2094 I arrived, bringing almsG1654 to my nationG1484, and offeringsG4376. 18Whereupon they foundG2147 me purifiedG48 in the temple, with neither crowdG3793 nor tumult. But it was certainG5100 JewsG2453 from AsiaG773, 19who oughtG1163 to appear before thee and accuseG2723, if they have anythingG5100 against me; 20or let these themselves sayG3004 what wrong they foundG2147 in me when I stoodG2476 before the councilG4892, 21[other] than concerningG4012 this oneG1520 voiceG5456 which I criedG2896 standingG2476 amongst them: I am judgedG2919 this dayG4594 by you touching [the] resurrectionG386 of [the] deadG3498. 22And FelixG5344, knowing accurately the things concerningG4012 the wayG3598, adjourned them, sayingG3004, WhenG3752 LysiasG3079 the chiliarch is comeG2597 down I will determine your affair; 23ordering the centurionG1543 to keepG5083 him, and that he should have freedom, and to hinderG2967 none of his friends to minister to him. 24And after certainG5100 daysG2250, FelixG5344 having arrived with Drusilla his wifeG1135, who wasG1510 a Jewess, he sentG3343 for PaulG3972 and heardG191 him concerningG4012 the faithG4102 in ChristG5547. 25And as he reasonedG1256 concerningG4012 righteousnessG1343, and temperance, and the judgmentG2917 about to comeG1096, FelixG5344, being filled with fear, answeredG611, GoG4198 for the presentG3568, and when I get an opportunityG2540 I will send for thee; 26hopingG1679 at the sameG846 timeG260 that moneyG5536 would be givenG1325 him by PaulG3972: wherefore alsoG2532 he sentG3343 for him the oftener and communed with him. 27But when twoG1333 yearsG1333 were completed, FelixG5344 was relieved by Porcius FestusG5347 as his successor; and FelixG5344, desirous to oblige the JewsG2453, to acquire their favour, leftG2641 PaulG3972 boundG1210.
