Luke 13
American Standard Version
1NowG1161 there were some presentG3918 at that very seasonG2540 who toldG518 him of the Galilæans, whose bloodG129 PilateG4091 had mingled with their sacrificesG2378. 2And he answeredG611 and saidG3004 unto them, ThinkG1380 ye that these Galilæans were sinnersG268 above all the Galilæans, because they have sufferedG3958 these thingsG3778? 3I tellG3004 you, Nay: but, except ye repentG3340, ye shall all in like manner perishG622. 4Or those eighteen, upon whom the towerG4444 in SiloamG4611 fellG4098, and killedG615 them, thinkG1380 ye that they were offenders above all the menG444 that dwellG2730 in JerusalemG2419? 5I tellG3004 you, Nay: but, except ye repentG3340, ye shall all likewiseG5615 perishG622.
6And he spake this parableG3850; A certainG5100 manG3778 had a figG4808 treeG4808 plantedG5452 in his vineyardG290; and he cameG2064 seekingG2212 fruitG2590 thereon, and foundG2147 none. 7And he saidG3004 unto the vinedresser, BeholdG2400, these threeG5140 yearsG2094 I comeG2064 seekingG2212 fruitG2590 on this figG4808 treeG4808, and findG2147 none: cutG1581 it downG1581; why doth it alsoG2532 cumber the groundG1093? 8And he answeringG611 saith unto him, LordG2962, let it aloneG863 this yearG2094 alsoG2532, till I shall digG4626 about it, and dung it: 9and if it bear fruitG2590 thenceforth, well; but if not, thou shalt cutG1581 it downG1581.
10And he wasG1510 teachingG1321 in oneG1520 of the synagoguesG4864 on the sabbathG4521 day. 11And beholdG2400, a womanG1135 that had a spiritG4151 of infirmityG769 eighteen yearsG2094; and she wasG1510 bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up. 12And when JesusG2424 sawG3708 her, he called her, and saidG3004 to her, WomanG1135, thou art loosed from thine infirmityG769. 13And he laidG2007 his handsG5495 upon her: and immediatelyG3916 she was made straight, and glorifiedG1392 GodG2316. 14And the ruler of the synagogueG752, beingG1510 moved with indignation because JesusG2424 had healedG2323 on the sabbathG4521, answeredG611 and saidG3004 to the multitudeG3793, There areG1510 sixG1803 daysG2250 in which men oughtG1163 to workG2038: in them thereforeG3767 comeG2064 and beG1510 healedG2323, and not on the dayG2250 of the sabbathG4521. 15But the LordG2962 answeredG611 him, and saidG3004, Ye hypocritesG5273, doth not each oneG1538 of you on the sabbathG4521 looseG3089 his oxG1016 or his ass from the stall, and leadG520 him awayG520 to watering? 16And oughtG1163 not this woman, beingG1510 a daughterG2364 of AbrahamG11, whom SatanG4567 had boundG1210, lo, these eighteen yearsG2094, to have beenG1510 loosedG3089 from this bond on the dayG2250 of the sabbathG4521? 17And as he saidG3004 these thingsG3778, all his adversaries were put to shameG2617: and all the multitudeG3793 rejoicedG5463 for all the glorious thingsG3778 that were done by him.
18He saidG3004 thereforeG3767, Unto what isG1510 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 like? and whereunto shall I liken it? 19It isG1510 like unto a grainG2848 of mustardG4615 seed, which a manG444 tookG2983, and castG906 into his ownG1438 gardenG2779; and it grewG837, and becameG1096 a treeG1186; and the birdsG4071 of the heavenG3772 lodged in the branchesG2798 thereof.
20And againG3825 he saidG3004, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdomG932 of GodG2316? 21It isG1510 like unto leavenG2219, which a womanG1135 tookG2983 and hidG2928 in threeG5140 measures of meal, till it wasG1510 all leavenedG2220.
22And he went on his way through citiesG4172 and villagesG2968, teachingG1321, and journeying on unto JerusalemG2414. 23And oneG5100 saidG3004 unto him, LordG2962, are they fewG3641 that are savedG4982? And he saidG3004 unto them, 24StriveG75 to enterG1525 in by the narrowG4728 doorG2374: for manyG4183, I sayG3004 unto you, shall seekG2212 to enterG1525 in, and shall not be ableG2480. 25When once the masterG2962 of the houseG3617 isG1510 risenG1453 up, and hath shut to the doorG2374, and ye beginG757 to standG2476 without, and to knockG2925 at the doorG2374, sayingG3004, LordG2962, openG455 to us; and he shall answerG611 and sayG3004 to you, I know you not whence ye areG1510; 26then shall ye beginG757 to sayG3004, We did eatG2068 and drinkG4095 in thy presenceG1799, and thou didst teachG1321 in our streetsG4116; 27and he shall sayG3004, I tellG3004 you, I know not whence ye areG1510; departG868 from me, all ye workersG2040 of iniquityG93. 28There shall beG1510 the weepingG2805 and the gnashingG1030 of teethG3599, whenG3752 ye shall seeG3708 AbrahamG11, and IsaacG2464, and JacobG2384, and all the prophetsG4396, in the kingdomG932 of GodG2316, and yourselvesG4771 castG1544 forth without. 29And they shall comeG2240 from the eastG395 and westG1424, and from the northG1005 and southG3558, and shall sit down in the kingdomG932 of GodG2316. 30And beholdG2400, there areG1510 lastG2078 who shall beG1510 firstG4413, and there areG1510 firstG4413 who shall beG1510 lastG2078.
31In that very hourG5610 there cameG4334 certainG5100 PhariseesG5330, sayingG3004 to him, Get thee out, and goG4198 hence: for HerodG2264 would fain killG615 thee. 32And he saidG3004 unto them, GoG4198 and sayG3004 to that foxG258, BeholdG2400, I castG1544 out demonsG1140 and perform cures to-day and to-morrow, and the thirdG5154 dayG4594 I am perfectedG5048. 33NeverthelessG4133 I must goG4198 on my way to-day and to-morrow and the dayG4594 followingG4198: for it cannot be that a prophetG4396 perishG622 out of JerusalemG2419. 34O JerusalemG2419, JerusalemG2419, that killeth the prophetsG4396, and stoneth them that are sentG649 unto her! howG4212 oftenG4212 would I have gatheredG1996 thy childrenG5043 togetherG1996, evenG2532 as a henG3733 gathereth her ownG1438 brood under her wingsG4420, and ye would not! 35BeholdG2400, your houseG3624 is leftG863 unto you desolate: and I sayG3004 unto you, Ye shall not seeG3708 me, until ye shall sayG3004, BlessedG2127 is he that cometh in the nameG3686 of the LordG2962.
