John 11:23-57
23JesusG2424 saidG3004 to her, “Your brotherG80 will riseG450 againG450.” 24MarthaG3136 saidG3004 to Him, “1I knowG3609 that he will riseG450 againG450 in the resurrectionG386 on the lastG2078 dayG2250.” 25JesusG2424 saidG3004 to her, “2I amG1510 the resurrectionG386 and the lifeG2222; he who believesG4100 in Me will liveG2198 evenG2579 ifG2579 he diesG599, 26and everyoneG3956 who livesG2198 and believesG4100 in Me 3will neverG3756G3361 dieG599. Do you believeG4100 thisG3778?” 27She saidG3004 to Him, “YesG3483, LordG2962; I have believedG4100 that You are 45the ChristG5547, the SonG5207 of GodG2316, even 67He who comesG2064 into the worldG2889.”
28When she had saidG3004 thisG3778, she 8wentG565 awayG565 and calledG5455 MaryG3137 her sisterG79, sayingG3004 secretlyG2977, “9The TeacherG1320 is hereG3918 and is callingG5455 for you.” 29And whenG5613 she heardG191 it, she gotG1453 up quicklyG5035 and was comingG2064 to Him.
30NowG1161 JesusG2424 had not yetG3768 comeG2064 into the villageG2968, but 10was stillG2089 in the placeG5117 whereG3699 MarthaG3136 metG5221 Him. 3111ThenG3767 the JewsG2453 who were with her in the houseG3614, and 12consolingG3888 her, when they sawG3708 that MaryG3137 gotG450 up quicklyG5030 and wentG1831 out, they followedG190 her, supposingG1380 that she was goingG5217 to the tombG3419 to weepG2799 thereG1563. 32ThereforeG3767, whenG5613 MaryG3137 cameG2064 whereG3699 JesusG2424 was, she sawG3708 Him, and fellG4098 at His feetG4228, sayingG3004 to Him, “13LordG2962, 14ifG1487 You had beenG1510 hereG5602, my brotherG80 would not have diedG599.” 33WhenG5613 JesusG2424 thereforeG3767 sawG3708 her weepingG2799, and 15the JewsG2453 who cameG4905 with her also weepingG2799, He 16was deeplyG1690 movedG1690 in spiritG4151 and 1718was troubledG5015, 34and saidG3004, “WhereG4226 have you laidG5087 him?” They saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, comeG2064 and seeG3708.” 35JesusG2424 19weptG1145. 36SoG3767 20the JewsG2453 were sayingG3004, “SeeG2396 howG4459 He 21lovedG5368 him!” 37But someG5100 of them saidG3004, “CouldG1410 not thisG3778 manG3778, who 22openedG455 the eyesG3788 of the blindG5185 manG3778, 23haveG4160 keptG4160 thisG3778 manG3778 alsoG2532 from dyingG599?”
38SoG3767 JesusG2424, againG3825 being deeplyG1690 movedG1690 withinG1722G1438, cameG2064 to the tombG3419. NowG1161 it was a 24caveG4693, and a stoneG3037 was lyingG1945 againstG1909 it. 39JesusG2424 saidG3004, “RemoveG142 the stoneG3037.” MarthaG3136, the sisterG79 of the deceasedG5053, saidG3004 to Him, “LordG2962, by thisG2235 timeG2235 25there will be a stenchG3605, for he has beenG1510 dead 26fourG5066 daysG5066.” 40JesusG2424 saidG3004 to her, “27Did I not sayG3004 to you that ifG1437 you believeG4100, you will seeG3708 the gloryG1391 of GodG2316?” 41SoG3767 they removedG142 the 28stoneG3037. ThenG1161 JesusG2424 29raisedG142 His eyesG3788, and saidG3004, “30FatherG3962, I thankG2168 You that You have heardG191 Me. 42I knewG3609 that You alwaysG3842 hearG191 Me; but 31becauseG1223 of the 32peopleG3793 standingG4026 aroundG4026 I saidG3004 it, soG2443 that they may believeG4100 that 33You sentG649 Me.” 43When He had saidG3004 theseG3778 thingsG3778, He criedG2905 out with a loudG3173 voiceG5456, “LazarusG2976, comeG1204 forthG1854.” 44The man who had diedG2348 cameG1831 forthG1831, 34boundG1210 handG5495 and footG4228 with wrappingsG2750, and 35his faceG3799 was wrappedG4019 aroundG4019 with a clothG4676. JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “UnbindG3089 him, and letG863 him goG5217.”
4536ThereforeG3767 manyG4183 of the JewsG2453 37who cameG2064 to MaryG3137, and 38sawG2300 whatG3739 He had doneG4160, believedG4100 in Him. 46But someG5100 of them wentG565 to the 39PhariseesG5330 and toldG3004 them the things whichG3739 JesusG2424 had doneG4160.
47ThereforeG3767 40the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the PhariseesG5330 41convenedG4863 a 42councilG4892, and were sayingG3004, “WhatG5101 are we doingG4160? For thisG3778 manG444 is performingG4160 manyG4183 4344signsG4592. 48IfG1437 we letG863 Him go on likeG3779 thisG3779, allG3956 menG3956 will believeG4100 in Him, and the RomansG4514 will comeG2064 and takeG142 awayG142 bothG2532 our 45placeG5117 and our nationG1484.” 49But oneG1520 of them, 46CaiaphasG2533, 47who was highG749 priestG749 that yearG1763, saidG3004 to them, “You knowG3609 nothingG3762 at allG3762, 50norG3761 do you takeG3049 into accountG3049 that 48it is expedientG4851 for you that oneG1520 manG444 dieG599 for the peopleG2992, and that the wholeG3650 nationG1484 not perishG622.” 51NowG1161 he did not sayG3004 thisG3778 49on his ownG1438 initiativeG1438, but 50beingG1510 highG749 priestG749 that yearG1763, he prophesiedG4395 that JesusG2424 was goingG3195 to dieG599 for the nationG1484, 52and not for the nationG1484 onlyG3440, but in orderG2443 that He might alsoG2532 51gatherG4863 togetherG4863 into oneG1520 the childrenG5043 of GodG2316 who are scatteredG1287 abroadG1287. 53SoG3767 from that dayG2250 on they 52plannedG1011 togetherG1011 to killG615 Him.
54ThereforeG3767 JesusG2424 53noG3765 longerG3765 continued to walkG4043 publiclyG3954 amongG1722 the JewsG2453, but wentG565 awayG565 from thereG1564 to the countryG5561 nearG1451 the wildernessG2048, into a cityG4172 calledG3004 54EphraimG2187; and thereG2546 He stayedG3306 with the disciplesG3101.
55NowG1161 55the PassoverG3957 of the JewsG2453 was nearG1451, and manyG4183 wentG305 up to JerusalemG2414 out of the countryG5561 beforeG4253 the PassoverG3957 56to purifyG48 themselvesG1438. 56SoG3767 they 57were seekingG2212 for JesusG2424, and were sayingG3004 to oneG240 anotherG240 as they stoodG2476 in the templeG2413, “WhatG5101 do you thinkG1380; that He will not comeG2064 to the feastG1859 at allG3756G3361?” 57NowG1161 58the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the PhariseesG5330 had givenG1325 ordersG1785 that ifG1437 anyoneG5100 knewG1097 whereG4226 He was, he was to reportG3377 it, soG3704 that they might seizeG4084 Him.
